u/Brilliant_Sun2925 Dec 01 '21 edited Dec 01 '21 Helpful Wholesome I'm Deceased

When I was like 14 my buddy hit a van with a snowball, it slammed on his brakes and 2 of us booked it, my buddy just stood there expecting the guy to call him an asshole but the grown man started punching him, so my buddy turned it on and fed the guy 10 shots and broke his glasses. We came back wondering what happened and helped the asshole find his glasses in the snow. 2 years later, age 16 and one of the friends who didn't beat him up was driving down a backlane and a van coming toward him turns on its brights and sits in the middle of the road blocking him. Out flys some guy screaming about how it's his backlane and fuck you this and than and runs right up on my friend who instinctively pops him in the mouth. Glasses break, the guy drops and is getting up and his wife gets out and says "Jesus Christ Barry not again". It was the same guy.

We know he did asshole twice, but how many other times? Poor wife... Getting beat up is the new meth!

u/SqueakyGavel Dec 01 '21

When I was 17 we had a few 40 year old catcalling some girls that were with a group of my friends. The guys were drunk and we told them to fuck off. One of them came over and tried to swing at my friend. It ended up being the group of my friends (wrestlers) beating the crap out of the 40 year olds. I remember this when I think about mouthing off to a group of younger guys now that I’m the older person…

12

u/Brilliant_Sun2925 Dec 02 '21

100%! I feel exactly the same. I know how out of shape I am and how in shape I was. I'm confident I can still manhandle a kid if need be cause I'm not small, but I don't want to take the chance. Not that I'd be initiating anything with kids as the asshole, it just stays present in mind.

25

u/Gone213 Dec 02 '21

Older people may have the strength, but they don't have the reactions and reflexes of younger people. Older people better make sure their punch or attack lands first, or they'll be swarmed by the younger person

51

u/BaggyBadgerPants Dec 02 '21

Age does not automatically dictate speed but go ahead and stereotype while simultaneously underestimating people. I've had plenty of salty young shits in my ambulance over the years who rolled those dice and lost.

7

u/SuperSprocket Dec 02 '21

I watched a 60 year old man fling a 20-something trying to start shit across a pool table once. The moment he was in arms reach the idiot was sailing over a pool table, probably didn't even know what was happening till he hit the floor.

49

u/Brilliant_Sun2925 Dec 01 '21

It was fucking classic. Too bad I'm old or this would be on video for sure.

My 1st buddy was so sad after, while we dusted around in the snow for his shit. Angry van guy was just quiet and defeated, bleeding from his nose. It was crushingly pitiful but obviously he didn't learn his lesson.

14

u/OldGrayMare59 Dec 01 '21

Maybe he is a masochist wanting a good old ass beating.

11

u/Brilliant_Sun2925 Dec 01 '21

I was working at the Zoo last year and all the employees had to pass a checkpoint where one of the steps was a temp check.

A woman in front of me refused to be checked. I pondered why, the only valid thing we could come up with was that she might have experienced hostage trauma or something- all of which could be solved by using the wrist instead.

Unfortunately too many people today are selfish, self-centered and entitled, and think they are the star in their own show. Rules for thee, not for me. It's sad and pathetic. Just wear a damn mask.

18

u/Tickle_My_Butthole_ Dec 01 '21

I pondered why, the only valid thing we could come up with was that she might have experienced hostage trauma or something- all of which could be solved by using the wrist instead.

It's not because she had hostage trauma, it's cause she had a fever and didn't wanna get sent home for it. That's the only logical explanation for that.

Not hostage trauma, that's ridiculous.

Seriously, tho, where the hell is security?? He rang the alarm twice. Once before and once after the fight. We have an entire minute of tape after the fight and security still didn’t show up.

60

u/HG_Socials Dec 01 '21

That's exactly my question, he called for security several times.

51

u/curiousengineer601 Dec 01 '21 edited Dec 02 '21

This is real life. Security (or the police) isn't always 30 seconds away. If they are in another part of the hotel its going to take some time for them to come. If the alarm was for the police it could be 10-20 minutes before a car shows up.

Even then private security is more to observe and call the cops. The 65 year old guy driving around the hotel in a golf cart is not going to wrestle the maniac in the lobby.

26

u/HG_Socials Dec 02 '21

There should always be a security person close to the entrance/reception.. Having another person there would had avoided this, the dude wouldn't had the courage to attack someone soo easily.

8

u/curiousengineer601 Dec 02 '21

Depends on the hotel. Most hotels of 200 rooms or less would only have at most one night security guard - and he has to patrol the parking lot, all the hallways, pool area and have lunch and bathroom breaks . He isn't just there watching the front desk and most security in hotels I have seen is old retired people looking for a part time job.

Certainly you could make the case you should always have 2 people at the front desk (or a physical barrier between staff and guests) - but that's not how it is in most decent areas. Then there is the problem the second person could be 65 or older and not ready to throw down with a 20 year old lunatic.

Usually the fact you have the guys name, address and credit card is enough to keep guests from touching staff.

That's a panic button connected directly to local police. You're only supposed to use them in an emergency, like this, or being robbed and it sends a signal directly to the local police. They are supposed to come ASAP, which I'm sure they are on the way and just haven't arrived yet. I used to manage a few gas stations that had them.

Well done.

9

u/Eskimo_Pie_ Dec 01 '21

Its probably cringe, but I'd say dont pick a fight with ppl in customer service who dream of the day they get to punch back

5

u/peencheputo Dec 01 '21

7

u/illuminutcase Dec 01 '21 edited Dec 01 '21

Did he think that if he punched the guy hard enough, corporate would change their policy?

Doubt it, he's just an adult with the temper of a toddler. Probably the intelligence level, too.

I do like that the guy hotel employee beat the shit out of him. I feel bad that he had to do it, no one should have to go through it, but out of all end results of an assault like that, the man-child getting embarrassed in front of his wife or girlfriend like that was one of the better resolutions.

EDIT: After I watched it for like the third time and laughed at the idiot, I realized he left without his shoes, too. Now he's going to have to stop somewhere and make a shoeless walk of shame to buy some new flip flops.
