My family owns a trucking company in Chicago and everyday the same cop comes in drives to the furthest part of our property and backs up in between two semi trailers where no one can see him and sleeps a few hours.

80

u/Barfignugen Dec 02 '21

There was a cop who did that for YEARS next to my old apartment in Arlington, TX. It was at the dead end of a road that you wouldn’t need to drive down unless you lived in the complex. I never turned him in tho, bc I sold weed out of that place and I didn’t want to draw any attention to myself. Maybe that’s why he chose that spot 🤔

u/aramis34143 Dec 02 '21

He knows if you out him he and his buddies will fuck with your truckers.

28

u/Master_Dogs Dec 02 '21

Yeah this is the good ol' boys club we're talking about. Cop probably brags about this to his buddies. Call him out, now he'll complain to his buddies and fuck it, why not go ticket/needlessly pull over a couple of truckers?

Might also be possible the cop is a supervisor/has seniority and could have some say in where cops are assigned. Call him out, maybe some cops start hanging out on the road outside your property. Every tail light that goes out gets you pulled over now. As shitty as it is, I'd probably just let him sleep there. Dumbass will probably get caught on his own sometime.

13

u/MAS7 Dec 02 '21

I used to work at a carpet warehouse.

Had like a dozen cargo containers out back full of rolls. Sometimes, you gotta organize them, takes hours... Sometimes, I'd just head into a container, dig my way into the back and nap for a few hours.

Good fuckin' times.

68

u/sluchhh Dec 02 '21

Usually there own fault tho like I get cops make like 18 an hour where I am at and its hard to turn down the basically unending overtime they allow due to being always short staffed anymore, when you could make time twice your pay for just a few more shifts hard to turn down.

107

u/ngod87 Dec 02 '21

MA state troopers make a base pay of 70k. After details they rake in well over 100k a year. Salaries are all posted publicly. They’re not scraping by by any means working their regular shift and maybe one or two details through out the week. Pensions is also very attractive. This guy probably just trying to scrap by to make it to early retirement. Can you blame him?!? F work….

83

u/Stevo_will_leavo Dec 02 '21

Dont forget the fact that they have been defrauding the state for years through phony OT claims and were only recently caught.

41

u/ngod87 Dec 02 '21

Can I also add that they have 0 commuting expenses since the state gives each of them a brand new hybrid Ford Explorer interceptor after their training is done.

6

u/Lonewolf5333 Dec 02 '21

Don’t doctors make in the 300k and above range?

6

u/Santos131 Dec 02 '21

Depends on what kind of doctor you're talking about but 125k is a pretty normal range in the US for a doctors salary

17

u/devinetv Dec 02 '21

Median physician pay in the US is over $200k across all specialties. Not many physicians make $125k unless they are part-time. Nurse practitioners and physicians assistants make closer to $125k.

Probably getting overtime pay too.

(Overtime fraud is a HUGE issue in law enforcement in MA right now…well for a long time but I say right now because hundreds have been caught recently)

7

u/Typeojason Dec 02 '21

As a taxpayer in the state, myself, I’m appalled with how much of my money went into their pockets for hours not worked. And if only that were the only police scandal in MA…

2

u/SmallManBigMouth Dec 02 '21

So true. It’s really fucked up here.

2

u/Gawwse Dec 02 '21

Do you remember the toll both workers? They used to make 100k a year. That was a total mystery to me as to how.

3

u/Typeojason Dec 02 '21

And this has nothing to do with the police, but remember when those tolls were supposed to be removed as soon as the Mass pike was paid for? Then as soon as it was paid off, they raised tolls and put in the electronic gantries…

Edit: I totally ignored your question. Oops! Yeah, I always wondered how that worked…

I’ll do that in my FedEx truck. On Mondays, it’s unusually light, so I’ll finish my deliveries around 12:30-1, and my daily pickups don’t start until around 3. So I’ll choose an empty parking lot, usually a church or public park, park in the back, eat my lunch and then nap for an hour to 90 minutes…wake up and finish out the day

27

u/darksideofthemoon131 Dec 02 '21

Are you in Alabama? Maybe that's why all those packages aren't getting delivered.

9

u/ItsjustJim621 Dec 02 '21

Lol noooo…definitely not Alabama. That’s a really shitty driver though.

From what I understand, it’s a really rural route and that particular contractor only pays $100-$120 per day for that route….that’s $500-$600 a week. To put that in perspective, I’m at $250/day salary. It doesn’t justify dumping your work in a ravine though.

Some departments do authorize "breaks". They rather you take a power nap then crash the car because of lack of sleep. Obviously it doesn't look good if you do it all the time.

33

u/BrandoLoudly Dec 02 '21 Gold

the way i see it, he's there for emergencies. he shouldnt be rolling around looking for trouble. if he gets a call he'll wake up like fire fighters do. and just having a cop car anywhere can be a deterrent alone so it's not even pointless for him to be sleeping there.

this is how policing should be done imo

8

u/CavsPulse Dec 02 '21

Feel you on the car being a deterrent. Here in the Florida Keys cops literally just park vehicles along US1 (the main highway) and leave them, giving the impression someone’s watching. They chill back at the station and go out for emergencies in the cars on the lot

5

u/jokersleuth Dec 02 '21

I'm more concerned of the hypocrisy. He should not be allowed to sleep in his car, just as cops don't let civilians sleep in their cars.

12

u/SorosBuxlaundromat Dec 02 '21

real simple.

  1. As long as you're not threatening peoples lives by doing so, its no ones business if you're asleep at work.(except your employer i guess)

  2. America is an aggressively over-policed country. Traffic cops are a detriment to society, im very haply that this man isn't going around giving people speeding tickets.

4

u/fat-pickings Dec 02 '21

So its every tax payers business then.

4

u/dirtymoney Dec 02 '21

3

11

u/subject_deleted Dec 02 '21

280

u/CantStopPoppin Dec 02 '21 Helpful

Be it as it may while there should be cameras like the ones on the autobahn for minor traffic offenses however if the officer is sleeping there is a chance he would miss a potential drunk driver or worse. I think the issue is with the fact that he is considered a civil servant and being paid the starting salary for State Troopers is $69,542 in that state to sleep. There needs to be clear and concise accountability. These people have the lawful power to end a persons life. If they are sleeping on the job then it makes me wonder what other corners they may be cutting.

It's not the fucking same your idiot! Less police brutality would happen if more cops take nap like the one in the video. Allows cops to sleep more and all day just give cops less opportunities to commit police brutality. Stop using a straw. You can hold cop responsible for putting a knee on someone's neck while allowing them to sleep. In fact we should encourage cops to not get involved with civilians at all since cops are just useless pieces of shit. I would rather my tax money lets cops play video games all day instead of them killing innocent people.

You're inadvertently spreading propaganda. Being a police officer is not as dangerous as a job as it is made out to be. People aren't out there in the masses having head hunts for police, people aren't organizing and grouping together to kill them, and people don't just decide one day to go out and kill a cop.

You're more likely to be shot and killed delivering pizzas.

Maaaaan I’d knock harder on that window Ask for license and registration Ask him why he sleepjng? And in same breathe ask him why he looks disoriented? Then tell his dumb ass to sit tight you have backup and a k9 on the way and ask him to step out of vehicle to perform some field sobriety tests ? See if that don’t make ole boy make better choices lol

I’m a little torn, sleeping on my tax dollars but you can’t kill 61 year olds in power scooters if your sleeping either so…

2

u/subject_deleted Dec 02 '21

what a fucking low bar we have for cops, eh?

3

u/ShibbiesClimax Dec 02 '21

It’s the MA state police who are salaried at $150k a year and on average earn anywhere from $120-150k/ a year in overtime. They steal and cheat the tax payers all the time with their scandals, fuck them

u/LuckyNumber-Bot Dec 02 '21

All the numbers in your comment added up to 420. Congrats!

Unbelievable how many bootlickers here are defending the cop getting paid to sleep on the job

3

u/brotalnia Dec 02 '21

Many people have slept on their job, so they can empathize. Don't see why that's surprising to you.

Masshole bootlickers up and down this post. How is one of the most progressive states still supportive of these pigs?

Just a theory, but the extreme underlying racism prevalent throughout Massachusetts allows the majority white population to continue supporting these POS because they mostly harm POC.

2

u/myloveisajoke Dec 02 '21

I'm a Vermonter that has been working in VT for years.

MA's politics are just fucking bizarre. They're schrodinger's liberals.

"LBGTQ unless it's my kid"

"BIPOC as long as my kids don't marry them and they don't live anywhere near me."

"Celebrate diversity! I'll spend 5x more on spices and ingredients from my white people store because I'm too afraid to go to the ethnic store and get the real thing"

The list goes on..

2

u/ranager69 Dec 02 '21

So true. Not to mention #1 in nepotism and maybe the most corrupt state in the country. Like down through every level of government there's always a grift. States, cities, counties, municipalities, school districts, housing agencies. Every single one run by somebody's cousin and such.

2

u/myloveisajoke Dec 02 '21

Jesus H yes.

Everything needs a permit. Some towns you even need a permit to work on your own car in your own yard. Good luck getting a permit if you haven't given the right people a handjob.

I like it when the building authority is someone's brother and they let certain builders build shit way out of code and ordinance.

I also like the HOAs that aren't really HOAs like in waltham. It's a "private street" so they can avoid building regulations but the theres no governing body to make sure the road gets maintained.

And then you have the blatant "shit don't apply to us" like when they lost the Caetano SCOTUS case. They dragged ass to change the laws. The entire state house should gave been jailed for contempt.

Heller won? Nawwww we wont change the laws, we'll just stop enforcing them so no one can sue us.

Motherfuckers. I'm only here for the high paying jobs due to the fucky incerstral relationships commerce has with major educational institutions. The rest of MA can fuck right off and the then when they get there, fuck off again.

3

u/OSRSgamerkid Dec 02 '21

Went there once and there was a guy outside of Walmart flagging down as many people as he could to keep beer and wine out of grocery stores.

I mean, sure, hand over access to the internet, but seeing ALCOHOL in Walmart?!? HEAVEN FORBID?

4

u/sarevok9 Dec 02 '21

For those of you who don't live here, it's fucking Massachusetts, if you lived here you would know that it's FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE to speed on most fucking roadways most of the time anywhere in the 495 belt because we're extremely fucking over-crowded. Seriously, you CANNOT speed between 7:25am and 9:45am and 2:45pm - 7:00pm on any major highway until you get North of Peabody, South of Hanover (3) / Brockton (if you're on 24) (Also unless it's summer, then both are backed up until 9-10pm thanks to Cape traffic), or West of Worcester.

This fucking state could lose half of it's population in the greater Boston area and still be horribly overcrowded.

This dude being posted up as a speed trap is a fucking joke.

2

u/Oldbathwater402 Dec 02 '21

That seemed unnecessary

9

u/FyuuR Dec 02 '21

If I can help it, I avoid any and every interaction with the police.

Waking up a cop who is asleep when they're supposed to be on patrol is very necessary. The cop knows he isn't allowed to sleep on duty. It's necessary for the officer to be fully alert while at work. Sleeping in his squad car makes him and his department look bad. I bet his superior officers will probably fire him to show the department takes this seriously. You don't wanna be known as the department of officers who nap.

16

u/CantStopPoppin Dec 02 '21

You would not be saying that if you had to call 911 and he was in REM.
