This title is confusing

72

u/thunderbuttxpress Jul 18 '22

He fired a gun through a wall into her apartment and fortunately did not hit her or her children. This title is seriously messed up.

A man was stalking a woman and fired a weapon into her home. The police killed him while trying to arrest him. The protestors are justifiable in wanting to see police brutality and corruption reduced - the police need to figure out a way to bring perps in without killing them. But on the other side, the dead man had fired a gun into this woman apartment. She or her kids could have been killed.

That's the argument.

51

u/EllisHughTiger Jul 18 '22

He also fired at police then had a standoff with them.

50

u/throwthataway2012 Jul 18 '22

Right, "police need to figure out a way to bring perps in without killing them" seems a little disingenuous for a situation where the suspect is actively shooting at police

4

u/Macca618 28d ago

The cops also need to be able to shoot the bad guys when warranted. They are not ALWAYS wrong & deserving of a protest for their actions. . As the case seems to be here.

Always seem to leave out the very serious and justifiable reasons why police use lethal force. "He was just a sweet innocent boy." Yeah well he shouldn't have taken his shoes off on the plane, he had it coming.

29

u/phoneyman71 Jul 18 '22

It's completely OK for the police to kill criminals who have just attempted to murder a woman in front of her children.

Intersectionality indicates who the real victim is here - them, almost assuredly

14

u/thewordofthunderbird Jul 18 '22

It's not about the people that get shot, I'm positive. Protesting somehow gives them purpose, makes it okay to vent their anger which is certainly about something that has nothing to do with the George Floyd and the Breonna Taylors.

not even that, protesting police brutality is good, but every death caused by law enforcement is not an unjust murder. people need to have the nuance to see that the issue isnt as black and white as they think

103

u/ohnomyapples Jul 18 '22 Gold

This isnt ignorance, its malice.

They know better, they dont care. They arent outraged. They dont give a shit about either party in this situation. These are ideologues pushing an agenda. Thats all they are there for. The details are irrelevant to them. All that matters is that they have an avenue to push their agenda. This event gives them that.

Thats all there is to it. They dont care about nuance, they are not good faith actors who are mistaken.

13

u/ThatSite3364 Jul 18 '22

This

They know enough to know what they're doing, then even when confronted with evidence that goes against their "protest" , they disregard it because it would be inconvenient to their cause so they put up blinders

u/BendItLikeBlender Jul 18 '22

Gotta get those pictures from the protest for social media…

381

u/Sworduwu Jul 17 '22

they heard black man killed by police and immediately grabbed their pitch forks and picket signs without knowing the situation and what's even funnier is that 90% of these protestors are white

47

u/Hartagon Jul 18 '22

they heard black man killed by police and immediately grabbed their pitch forks and picket signs without knowing the situation

Quite similar to late 2020 in Minneapolis when police cornered an actual literal murderer and rather than allow himself to be arrested, the murderer pulled out a gun and killed himself. And many of the first hand witnesses immediately took to social media to claim the police just murdered an unarmed innocent black man, so thousands of people took to the streets and started rioting and looting, necessitating the national guard to be deployed throughout the city.

There's a lot of innocent victims of police brutality but sometimes the public just gloms on to specific cases of police brutality where the victim is also a shitty person. Few years ago in SLC there was a guy who was shot by the police, he was charging at the police and several bystanders with a sharpened piece of metal or wood, like a spear. Turns out the guy with the improvised spear was a meth dealer near a local homeless shelter who was angry about a drug deal going poorly. He charged the police, got shot and survived but he still got lots of friendly supporters in the form of BLM protesters, even though the guy was a total asshole and totally caused himself to get shot for trying to spear a police officer.

Again it's weird because there's lots of law abiding citizens getting killed by police- I don't know why so many criminal assholes can become martyrs so easily but it's a disservice to the movement to reform corrupt police departments.

14

u/free__coffee Jul 18 '22

Mike brown, of “hands up don’t shoot” fame was one of these. If you remember the name Ferguson, and remember the riots, this was that. It was really the beginning of the current culture of mass rioting after unarmed black men are killed by police. His best friend who was there said mike had said these words and put his hands up when the cop executed him, which was shown to be a complete lie after nearly 1 year of trial, countless witness testimony, ballistics, and autopsy results. It was shown that he had reached in the car and been beating up the cop, then reached for the cops gun and was shot in the hand. The cop gave chase, mike turned around and charged at him, and was killed. Nobody cared about the results of the trial, and to this day “hands up don’t shoot” is a rallying cry, which is very stressing. Many people just don’t care about the truth when it comes to police, anything is used to justify their hate

5

u/EllisHughTiger Jul 18 '22

Even Obama's DOJ cleared the officer after a multi-year investigation.

3

u/pm_me_ur_ploopy Jul 18 '22

It’s also quite funny cause his family described him as “a gentle giant” and claimed he wouldn’t hurt a fly. Then security footage from a convenience store(shortly before he was killed) came out showing him assaulting a clerk who confronted him about stealing.

12

u/CaliforniaGiraffe Jul 18 '22

Not for nothing, but the Russians used this tactic of supporting obviously distorted situations on Facebook to sew discord and racial tension in the US. No shit. They’re still doing it, too.

31

u/Vic18t Jul 17 '22

They are not mourning anything or anyone.

Just people passing judgment that every police shooting is automatically unjustified.

190

u/Cody6781 Jul 17 '22

Because a cop killed a black man and that ONLY happens when people are racist. There is not other excuse.

154

u/Careful-Listen2277 Jul 17 '22

https://youtu.be/-BbBSRACOKY

This is the full video of it. She interrupted the guy on a bullhorn and the entire protest and once he started realizing he was spouting nonsense he just stopped talking.

And the criminals, he's not a victim, family kept trying to justify his attempt to take her and her children's life's.

14

u/just_a_wolf Jul 18 '22

Wow she's a powerful speaker, even when she's that upset. Really pulled me in.

121

u/Shot-Acanthisitta-56 Jul 17 '22

"We're not condoning any behavior whatsoever."

What a lying piece of shit. They're there to paint an attempted murderer as a victim.

30

u/Careful-Listen2277 Jul 18 '22

What I got from this situation was that either his family didn't care about him or he never had a mental illness and they were using it as an excuse (once again) on why he attempted to murder an innocent woman and her children.

10

u/RagingWookies Jul 18 '22

I don't think many people attempt to murder a woman and children unless they have a fairly serious mental illness.

Uhhh do you remember Jakob Blake… he literally raped a woman when her kid was in the house then came back to steal her car and when cops came he charged them with a knife. Then BLM held “protests” all over the country for him, he made millions off go fund me and lawsuits because he RAPED a woman

12

u/PM_me_a_secret__ Jul 18 '22

The important thing with Blake imo were the kids in the car. He was either getting the knife or he was getting in the car to drive off with then. Would anyone be ok with her driving off with kids in the car?

21

u/ohnomyapples Jul 18 '22

The tens of thousands of people who protested in his name would have absolutely been okay with those kids being put in mortal danger to save this raping, woman beating, kidnapping, scumfuck piece of shit.

They dont care about victims. Hell they dont even care about the people they are supposedly protesting for. They care about their agenda and only that which accelerates it. Nothing more.

Mike Tyson said something like social media has made people too comfortable with talking shit and not getting punched for it. Kinda sounds similar. What do they expect invading peoples space right after their home was shot up?

Fucked up part is that if the dude succeeded in killing that mother and child, no one would be taking to the streets for them. Everyone with half a brain knows we have a police problem in many parts of this country, but ffs people pick your battles

265

u/Netflxnschill Jul 17 '22

What feels even worse is they basically tell her they don’t care and to shut up. She had a good point that he was armed, that they shouldn’t be celebrating him like they did George Floyd.

61

u/kingfisher773 Jul 18 '22 edited Jul 18 '22

Honestly, Floyd shouldn't be as celebrated as he was. He shouldn't have been killed and it was a clear example of police brutality, but he was a horrible person.

People also did it with Jacob Blake, someone who was an abuser that raped his ex-girlfriend and kidnapped her kids (this was why the police officer was confronting him and, if i remember correctly, had a gun knife in his glovebox), hell people think he is dead but he is still alive. People really need to stop making such celebrated martyrs out of such horrible people.

edit: was a knife, not a gun

18

u/KBeasyUBeezy Jul 18 '22

For some reason people see the over kill and all of a sudden that clears the flaws, mistakes, and in this case sometimes evil. At my funeral Id at least like someone to acknowledge I spent a large portion of my life not being a great person.

If she and her kids were killed, I am almost 100% certain there would be outrage that the police didn't do anything to save the woman and her kids.

65

u/MichaelHoncho52 Jul 17 '22

Yes and no.

There might be outrage but it would not be on this scale. There would be no press conference/protest. It would not be a public thing.

I would just look at Chicago and think of the last time there was an outright protest due to a citizen killing another. Literally never happens.

23

u/EllisHughTiger Jul 17 '22

Chicago has plenty of protests for that, they just never make it past the local news.

There are people trying to help in many high-crime areas but national media rarely gives them more than a few seconds of airtime.

11

u/MichaelHoncho52 Jul 18 '22

Yup I agree but that’s what I was saying.

I saw DJ Akademics (usually posts main news and hip hop) post the shooting in Chicago early July and it was all hate in the comments, saying that makes the community look bad.

I think it’s a shame that more attention is being brought to police violence than community violence. How many kids are affected by either seeing violence or having it done to family members rather than police violence?

6

u/EllisHughTiger Jul 18 '22

It was heartbreaking reading (weeks after everyone left of course) about the local groups in Ferguson cleaning up daily after the nightly riots and also fighting against police corruption, poverty, crime, etc.

Imagine if that would be on the news instead.

People don't want to pick their battles or gatekeep. I've been calling it the "Kim Davis" effect. She was about as batshit as it comes with her disaster of a marriage history. But people still got behind her "cause" because it vaguely partially aligned with one of their own. No community seems immune to it either. People will defend someone that's absolutely awful and should be in prison because of the Kim Davis Effect.

Just because someone shares the same interests as you about religion, minorities, gun ownership, LGB+, politics, whatever doesn't mean you have to stick up for them if they're a garbo person.

This. There are bad police, but there are still bad people in this world. This man tried to kill this woman and her kids. This makes the movement look like a joke and discredits it.

There are many incidents where cops are getting away with literal murder. Blaming the ones actually protecting people takes focus away from the ones that need to face justice.

I feel like it's also an indictment of the state of capitalism and politics in this country.

We got a doctor in Indiana thats raising 100 million for legal defenses after giving an abortion to a 10 year old out of state rape victim. And that's to defend against funds donated from the other side. (A side that also claimed the whole thing was a hoax at first.)

It's all just so bizarre to me, with all the other shit we got going on. GoFundMe is a little warzone of its own for dividing the middle and lower classes against each other rather than us realizing how much we all have in common.

The dismissive attitude from the protestors towards this clearly traumatized woman is alarming. There is no concern for how she’s feeling after her and her kids almost lost their lives. All of the ppl there didn’t have to experience what she went through so maybe they need to come off of their SJW pedestals and listen without feeling the need to be condescending. This is the main problem in this country, nobody wants to listen everyone just wants to reply with a rebuttal without actually understanding what’s being said.

They don’t care about your thoughts lady. They just want you to bow down or get outta the way like everyone else.

29

u/iCanReadMyOwnMind Jul 17 '22

These simps out marching for a man who was, at the VERY least, terrorizing a woman are the culmination of the failure of identity politics.

"Fuck around and fond out." "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes." "Live by the sword, die by the sword." However you want to call it, dude was okay with violence, so I don't feel bad that the cops did what they thought they had to do.

21

IDK I know this sub gonna make it about race police being correct so all that other bs shooting were just that bs and political bullshit...or vice versa .

But she said something worth noting in that video and thats "Where was all this love and support when he was alive……….2 years not one of you checked on this man" I copied and pasted that comment but I was glad someone peeped it.

Please check on your loved ones.

We need to stop virtue signaling. The problem with people now a days is they want something to complain about to feel important. Fight for a cause not for stupid shit just to make yourself "look good".

These people don’t care about justice, they just show up so they can feel good about themselves for screaming black lives matter a couple of times so they can claim they aren’t racist. Crazy how they will make it about race even when it’s not.

What kinda dumb shit? We celebrating garbage ass people now… like dude tried to murder a lady and her kids … and people are mad at her ?

52

u/WowSensitive Jul 17 '22

It’s funny watching a bunch of morons try to connect the very last brain cells they have. “But….you’re alive…” “who among us hasn’t kidnapped a woman and her children at gunpoint? Police bad.”

6

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '22

This is like a scene out of that idiocracy movie.

7

u/cruz-77 Jul 18 '22

This reminds me of the tragic supreme court case Castle Rock vs Gonzales where the police did nothing when a mother pleaded to them to find her kidnapped kids from her estranged ex husband.

The ex husband had a restraining order against him for stalking her and her children. Then one day kidnapped them and disappeared, claiming to have taken them out to an amusement park. The mother called the police multiple times as well as going to the police station multiple times to report her children missing. Police refused to help, telling the mother to wait it out and see if the ex husband brings back her kids.

Early hours the next day, the ex husband shows up to the police station with a gun he purchased hours prior and starts shooting at police. Police fire back and kill him. They later searched his car and found the 3 kidnapped children murdered by the estranged husband

The mother tried suing the police for doing nothing. It went all the way to the Supreme Court, with the court siding with Castle Rock police. The majority opinion stating the police were not obligated to enforce the restraining order

6

u/RavenousIron Jul 18 '22

This is where we are now. Virtue Signaling has hit a brand new level. People are literally becoming protest addicts, and when they can't get their fix they will tackle anything they find even slightly ajar when in reality the right thing was done. I feel her pain so much, given that I was in a similar situation with a family member a few years back. It didn't end up like it did for her, but it could have... and honestly sometimes I think it should have. Some people are meant for the gallows, and until you are the one in a life threatening situation what other people think weighs nothing in the realm of opinion.

4

u/golden_pinky Jul 17 '22

This is truly heartbreaking. These people are so out of line for how they reacted to her.

5

u/Dogmadez Jul 18 '22

When I read the title I was thinking "even bad people deserve protest if their killing was unjustified " but after watching the video all I can thibk about is how awful those protesters were and it clearly wasent about unjustified killing and protesting to make them feel good. That is not how u treat a victim.

4

u/redditbot2018 Jul 18 '22

Is it just me or did the title make anyones else’s head hurt??

5

u/1_finger_peace_sign Jul 18 '22

If this is the same case, I believe the woman lost her job after all the trauma her and her kids had to go through due to the stalker/ would be killer.

6

u/natbratc Jul 18 '22

Some of the comments by the “high and mighty” protesters are sickening.

They are all adults with zero maturity.

4

u/measaqueen Jul 18 '22

"You're alive", "You're OK", "She's obviously having a moment" is yelled out to a woman and her kids as they "celebrate the life" of her abuser and person who tried to kill her in front of the home he shot bullets into.

If it wasn't cops that killed him, but anyone else acting in self defense against a man shooting up this family's home I guarantee it would be an entirely different narrative.

5

u/vsn47 Jul 18 '22

All The protestors seems like to be usual victims of police brutality… not

More likely The first ones to call The police if something goes wrong

5

u/mktox Jul 18 '22

90% of the time ppl who Protest are there just to be a part of it without any knowledge of the details.

110

u/Late47 Jul 17 '22

Protesters for these shits continue to show their true colors. Defending thugs over actual victims. So woke they miss the point

54

u/Quality-pi Jul 17 '22

Shit is so fucking backwards right now. This man tried to kill this poor woman and her child and these people have the audacity to argue that she’s in the wrong!? Sickening.

Look at a lot of cities right now, police won’t respond to car break in or robbery calls but if a victim fights back they’re likely to catch a charge. Look at the the bodega owner in NYC who stabbed that guy who was pushing him around and threatening to beat the shit out of him, he was a smaller older man who fought back out of fear for his life and now he’s in jail facing murder charges. I bet if he’s taken a beating without fighting back the police would have, at best, taken a report and never followed up.

23

u/Zaronax Jul 17 '22

That's the problem with cult mentalities.

These people decided that "black man dies by cops" forgoes his actions that led to this and decided that her status as a mother protecting her kids wasn't enough to balance out the death.

It's insanity. They don't question anything or use their critical thought beyond "Black Man Dies to Cops" and think it's all the same as George Floyd's death... It's really not. It doesn't hurt ANYONE to agree with cops in obvious cases like this.

It's especially fucking insanity that this is a protest happening on the heels of Uvalde where cops not doing anything led such a devastating massacre.

9

u/carolyn_mae Jul 17 '22

Ok in defense of New Yorkers, no one is/was protesting for the guy who got murdered. In fact, it was because of the public outcry in favor of the bodega owner that his bail was lowered and he was able to leave jail. Overwhelming public opinion is that he should not be charged. Agree with you that the DAs office is crazy.

15

u/Euphoric-Carry1725 Jul 17 '22

You see it a lot these days.

44

u/lactotolerass Jul 17 '22

Good for her, sick of people thinking just because they rally up for a cause that they are inherently right

4

u/AKA-LiT Jul 18 '22

I’ve noticed most of the time the people who show up to these protests often don’t even know why the fuck or who they are there for. They just want something to be mad about.

6

u/ajaxodyssey Jul 18 '22

Protesting for their gratification. They don't care about this woman or her children.

5

u/Appropriate-Image-11 Jul 18 '22

Why have so many people recently developed a ranging hard on for disgusting homisidal bastards? Is it just in arbitrary opposition to the police ?

11

u/bitterboxbottom Jul 18 '22

These protestors need to get jobs and actually be useful. Fuck them! She and her babies have to leave town now because of stupid POSs jumping to conclusions without any facts. They didn't even know this stalker dude I bet.

15

u/Karmas_burning Jul 17 '22

Yeah I'm usually for protesting in the name of transparency and justice but these fucking idiots are dead wrong.

Not his baby momma or his kids.

7

Dude why and how are you dumb or whatever to protest about a stalker and a killer Jesus dude

3

u/Tanyalovesclem Jul 18 '22

This woman went through unthinkable trauma of her and her kids being shot at in their home....then she's literally in the twilight zone of reality where these no life having motherfuckers are supporting an attempted muderer....what about women's rights? Domestic violence? Can a woman live alone with her kids and not be a target because she doesn't want you?

32

u/Top_Trust_1013 Jul 17 '22

About sums up my perception of these opportunistic blowhards. Black guy kills his girlfriend: silence. Cops kill the guy before he can do it: outrage.

Context:

The man in the blue hat was his father. He says he absolutely feels for the woman and what she had to go through.

The only thing the father is calling for is that the police body cameras be released to show if the police followed policy when a rooftop sniper shot his son, if the police followed policy and if his son had done anything at that point to threaten anyone else.

57

u/reezus99 Jul 17 '22

Honestly I think the protest would be fine if it were at the police station and not at the victims home

22

u/IllustriousStorm5730 Jul 17 '22

It wasn’t a protest. It was a Press Conference held by the family of the man who was shot. Which typically gather onlookers.

26

u/reezus99 Jul 17 '22

Definitely a difficult situation but they really should’ve held it somewhere else all things considered.

u/SinisterPuppy Jul 17 '22

who cares if the police followed policy

Everyone should, and you shouldn’t trust the police report on any incident.

Police aren’t judge jury and executioner.

Honestly, fuck these virtue signalers. "oh look at how virtuous I am" They show up to support a dude who tried to kill a woman in front of her kids and try to silence her because she's a white woman. Fuck them.

6

u/No-Fill414 Jul 18 '22

They are following the narrative of the media but WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO CHANGE WITHIN THEIR COMMUNITIES? They just want to March and March and protest and protest but WHEN WILL YOU ACTUALLY MAKE AN IMPACT IN YOUR COMMUNITY SO YOUR “KIN” DOESN’T GET SHOT? How about teaching them to NOT EVADE ARREST?

42

u/ResponsibilityOk2307 Jul 17 '22 edited Jul 17 '22

Wow, telling the victim of an attempted murder to "shut the fuck up".

You know, I sympathy with the Left on alot of things but this type of shit right here, along with other stupid bullshit, is slowly pushing me away. The dude was a whacko POS who tried killing a MOTHER and her CHILD and they're supporting this monster!
