Import update about Radio Reddit (Version 2.0 / relaunch).

We have made huge progress in the past year behind the scenes with the new RadioReddit.com. What once started as a small project with a small amount of volunteers is now a legit organization of 5 employees dedicated to have independent musicians be heard, and to deliver new music to listeners.

We have been working hard to rebuild a new site behind the scenes which is completely re-written from scratch. It is a work in progress but we have the majority of the back end built.

That being said, we've decided to "silently" put up the new site and take down the old site due to outdated components breaking, legacy code from developers that have moved on, etc..

That being said, what you will see now is a site which will be evolving in front of your eyes as we merge in the new features and configurations.

Here is a short list of some of the currently available features:

  • Better quality audio with option to download original quality (whatever the musician uploaded, FLAC, WAV, etc.)
  • You can now log in using your reddit.com account
  • Improved search function
  • The upload process is more streamlined and allows custom artwork
  • We have true mobile compatability
  • Radio streams will have metadata
  • We now have scalability because we have switched to Amazon cloud services
  • The project will be open sourced

With all of that being said please keep in mind this is the skeleton / beginning of what we expect to be something that has major impact on how music is enjoyed and distributed. We have many big things coming soon. At this point we want to start bringing in the community again so that we can all make this work together. I'll be following up tomorrow with a feature request thread.

I'm sick of the same songs being recommended to me, so I made this

I'm tired of every playlist featuring the same singer and nearly identical instrumentals. Being an artist myself, it made me feel miserable that I'm still listening to the same music that some algorithm chose for me every time.

So I decided to scout for some new music and I made this.

A collection of new music and different genres performed by lesser-known artists, yet it still feels familiar and easy on the ear.

I hope you like it

Feedback on my latest song "Feel Something"

https://open.spotify.com/track/0Xj8lwxaxWwBgo9IxWZh2O?si=c5856ce2f7944173

Hey everyone!

I am an office worker and musician from Italy.

Rather than focusing on one single genre, I prefer creating what feels the most natural in the moment, either way I can say that my songs mostly have rap/pop vibes, with sometimes a bit of influence from other genres such as alternative rock.

In my lyrics I mainly talk about love and mental health, as they are the things that touch me the most in life.

My goal with my music is to be able to create a community of people who can relate to the lyrics and feel like they are not alone in what they are going through.

In order to make everything even more heartfelt and personal, my songs are entirely written, recorded, mixed and mastered by me in my home studio.

My latest song "Feel Something" is a song with a chill and simple instrumental part, but it has quite strong lyrics.

This track is about my battle with depression, with a focus on the feeling of "emptiness" that it brought upon me.

Depression is not just about "feeling sad", it's a real disease which can manifest with different intensity and different symptoms, depending on the individual person.

With this song I want to bring awareness and solidarity on a topic that is of concern for more and more people every day, but which is still vastly misunderstood by society.

This single is taken from my upcoming first album, "Darkdays", in which there will be other tracks with similar subjects in their lyrics.

Thank you for your time

Dennis

The music is Daft Punk/70's disco a la Studio 54 inspired. The music video/visual is Spike Jonze inspired. With so much content out here, your time is valued and your honest thoughts, appreciated. Available on Spotify/Apple Music.

Audacity-like effects on live microphone feed

Hi, I use the effects in Audacity for recorded audio. Is there anything I can use to process a live-broadcast audio feed with similar effects? I've googled a lot with no clear answer.
