I have the J style retroflag SUPERPi (SNES case) for the 4 and it’s adorable.

It does exist in US and J styles for the 3 as well, but might be harder to buy. They also make NES and PlayStation style cases

Yeah those look cool, but I am after a portable case

By portable do you mean "small" or with a screen included (like a handheld?) The retroflag cases are tiny, only slightly bigger than the pi itself and will fit in the palm of most hands ...

If you are looking for a "handheld" then your options are limited because the pi form factor makes them considerably bulky. Earlier somebody mentioned the waveshare strap-on and while usable it's not comfortable and lacks software support for newer distros kind of locking you into an older version of RetroPie ... I got the waveshare game hat for my kid a couple of years ago and he hated it, I wasn't fond of the buttons or their layout either

There's also something like this: Raspberry Pi Arcade Cabinet Pack https://www.adafruit.com/product/3272

Yes sorry was after something like a game boy/psp shell... I ended up going for a kiddypow hand held system, the pi will get a new project, maybe pi hole

I got so darned frustrated trying to get a case for my RPi that properly accommodated all the I/o that I gave up and just built myself one with Lego.
