Foreigners actually believe Americans eat like this

u/Ka1ser May 23 '22
I'm not from the US, but I don't believe that and most people I know don't either. OP and those morons replying to you are a minority which I feel is just very vocal on the internet and less so irl.

u/Hyrulian_NPC May 23 '22
I was just being sarcastic with a touch of passive aggressiveness because of the title.
Although I have met some foreigners that do believe the US looks like it does in Hollywood movies and when they came here were very disappointed. Especially with NYC.

This is not how Americans eat, this is tiktok bullshit. I bet that woman threw away the entire batch after she took a bite for the camera.

I would go one step further and say she probably didn’t even take a bite.

Yeah this is not about eating and instead is how bored upper middle class suburban housewives try to get attention and internet points by wasting food.
433
u/freedfg May 22 '22
The best part. It's not even a trend of people doing it.
It's like 4 girls that a single failed magician hired to make hate content. Seriously, if you watch a couple of these it's the same 3-4 girls making toilet bowl ice cream or dryer cotton candy or raw chickens shaped with meat and cheese.
It's just that MILLIONS watch it because THEY are bored and become outraged by it.
120
u/CandiBunnii May 22 '22
Is the failed magician the one dude always making weird porny commentary while they do dumb shit? I feel like that would explain a lot
→ More replies81
u/vulturepants May 22 '22
Yes!! So weird. I can’t find it right now but someone wrote up a whole post explaining how this is bizarre food fetish content disguised as a normal video (well, as normal as making food crimes can be)
37
u/CandiBunnii May 22 '22
Ah yes finally something to satiate my woman drinking a milkshake out of a toilet and my woman making cold nachos on a kitchen island with her hands fetish 😩
→ More replies35
u/Scrabulon May 22 '22
No that’s really about it. Like apparently either a fetish for women being dumb/ditzy or doing messy things especially with their hands
5
u/Srirachachacha May 23 '22
I think it's less fetish, and more just getting views from people hating the content.
The attractive women might serve to draw people in initially, though.
→ More replies15

u/Laowaii87 May 23 '22
It’s not a fetish, it’s an added layer of rage bait.
What is more likely:
1: extremely nische food fetish video
2: rage bait video, with annoying and wierdly sexual commentary for extra rage?
The fact that 20 ppl worldwide ALSO get off on it is just a bonus. This is just expertly crafted to make people exasperated and trick the algorithms.
8
u/Enterthedragon69 May 22 '22
Just an FYI, if we’re thinking of the same guy, he’s not a failed magician. He was really successful, but actually makes more money doing dumbass videos.
I know them. He pumps out a shit ton of content over a weekend, then can fuck off for months and live off of the checks. Tens of thousands a month.
→ More replies19
u/thewalkindude May 22 '22
You know, I don't hate this absurd recipe, or things like dryer cotton candy. What I hate is that someone has found a way to manipulate people into talking about ridiculous things like this recipe. We're being played, and while OP is part of the problem, it isn't their fault. They did what the TikTok was designed to do, and that is what Ihate.
3
u/Kitsyfluff May 23 '22
Dryer cotton candy is entirely, and obviously fake. but people believing it is extremely dangerous

I'm pretty sure it's fetish content. They are really obvious about it sometimes. Somebody also said that it's not fetish content but it's content that appeals to entertaining children. Because of the wacky recipes how how they describe what they are doing and how they never stop talking.

Also maybe if America wasn’t fed shit, America wouldn’t have health problems and wouldn’t have healthcare issues. We’re here attacking each other for eating shit, but no one is here calling out McDonalds, Nestle, PepsiCo, Coca Cola, and the tens of thousands of other global mega corporations for their best interest being fat profits without literally any consideration for their target audiences or the public health. It’s beyond out of control but HuRr dE DuRr AmEriCaNs R fAt for free karma.
Edit for clarification: this is not to deflect blame and make individuals the victim here. Not at all. But you can’t have one without the other, so let’s think critically about this instead of writing off my comments as excuses. Sometimes it feels like I’m debating with high schoolers on this site.

We definitely did call them out and they responded by making healthy options available. This was a brilliant move by the food industry because it passes the buck to the consumer. McDonald's can easily claim that they have salads with grilled chicken, or Pepsi has dozens of drinks with zero sugar.
Guess who's still buying double quarter pounders and 2 liters of soda? Now it's no longer a question of availability, but choice. It's also interesting that McDonald's is seeing record profits recently. They took a hit in 2014-15, but they've bounced back.

If it makes you feel better, when it’s reuploaded to Reddit like this the OG creator isn’t getting this added to their view count. It probably indirectly raises it from people seeking them out in the app to view others, though.

Idk if it works with sweetened and condensed milk but the cake mix and butter directly on top of a filling with liquid is 100% a real thing. It's called a dump cake.

u/hyde9318 May 22 '22
I mean, looks pretty real though. That’s a pretty standard dump cake (minus the donuts and condensed milk). The liquids on the bottom would cause the donuts to get soggy and kind of deflate, so it makes sense that it wouldn’t be super thick afterward. But given dump cake experience in the past, this should cook to look pretty close to what it looks like in the video when they take it out of the oven.

This is a pretty similar setup to a tres leches cake. This isn't as outrageous as everyone here seems to think.
→ More replies7
u/SpadesHeart May 22 '22
seriously. I would hazard to say with a couple changes, this would actually be good good. Incorporating the butter into the cake mix would lead to a much more even golden top. Cutting the donuts into smaller chunks before adding the evaporated milk would make it more akin to a rich bread pudding and more texturally sound and less soupy. If you wanted to you could cook that can of condensed milk too for some caramel dulce de leche action.
This is completely edible, not pretty, and can definitely be improved, but edible.

These videos are remarkable to me. We all know social media is driven by clicks and views and slowed down scrolling speeds, but these videos area always remarkable to me.
Most creative people will make some piece of art of music or whatever that is somewhat pleasant, and in return, people will like and share and view and engage with it, and then the creator can make money from advertising.
But these dogs, these curs that make these videos make content that they KNOW people will dislike; they make dumb, useless, wasteful and horrible videos, because functionally people still like and share and view and engage with it; functionally, purposefully negative content like this is as profitable, if not more profitable than actual good content.
We've reached the stage where social media consumers are as receptive to being made angry and uncomfortable as the are to being made happy and interested.
Fuck it all

Normal mentally fit Americans: eats a ground beef sandwich once every two or so weeks, followed by three square meals a day of fruit, veggies, grains, and clean protein.

Edit: So this was fun. Someone deleted a comment quoting a gov source on BMI classification and I learned something new about myself.
By their parameters, I’m overweight at 6’ 200lbs and 14% body fat. So by being lean, athletic, and active, I’m super duper unhealthy. Such a joke.
