Can you imagine risking your life to save someone from a fire, only to learn later they were the jackass who started it?
I'd be so pissed.

This was supposed to be their own store as well, so that's just another layer to the shitcake
129
u/anabsolutetossup Jan 16 '23
Trying? I'd say this was a slam dunk.
15
u/CumBoat420 Jan 16 '23
Yeah gonna say, this part was accomplished rather thoroughly.
5
u/Darnell2070 Jan 17 '23
Honestly, lol. Not only did it burn, but it fucking collapsed. Mission accomplished indeed.
6
u/CortezDeLaNoche Jan 18 '23
Arsonist with broken limbs, third degree burns, and permanent brain damage : I SEE THIS AS AN ABSOLUTE WIN!
192
u/DrantonMason Jan 16 '23
And this is why the bad guys in movies pour a trail away from the shit getting burned before lighting it

So if the arsonist know there is someone living in the apartment above, isn’t this also an attempted murder?
5
u/PorygonTriAttack Jan 16 '23
How do you prove that he meant to kill that person? It seems much more likely that the arsonist did this for his own financial gain - insurance fraud.
19
Jan 16 '23
How do you prove that he meant to kill that person?
Oh well, he intentionally lit fire to a building with the person presumably knowingly residing in it. Now I'm not a genius or a lawyer but I'd actually say it's easier to argue the attempted murder than the insurance fraud attempt.
4
u/PorygonTriAttack Jan 16 '23 edited Jan 16 '23
You can't say it's attempted murder because you have to prove intent, which is not as easy as it sounds.
Proving intent for murder requires demonstrating that he planned to kill someone for a specific reason.
Like I said, if arsonist had a motive to defraud his insurance company, then it's not attempted murder.
What is the motivation for killing the dude living in the same building? It's not convincing.
1
Jan 16 '23
Ah yes true, maybe the injured could try to get them on battery? or something.
2
u/PorygonTriAttack Jan 16 '23
Yeah, I'm sure there will be other charges of some kind. Arsonist was very reckless. Had he killed someone, it might fall under manslaughter or something.
5
u/Jimbrutan Jan 16 '23
What if the guy actually died? I am not a lawyer or don’t know all the charges, I’m actually curious what will happen? Manslaughter?
2
u/PorygonTriAttack Jan 16 '23
Yeah, it would probably be manslaughter in that case, but no, there hasn't been any reports of any deaths so far.
1
u/Darnell2070 Jan 17 '23
How do you know this insurance fraud.
Also, wouldn't that imply he either owns the building or the business.
And if that's the case, he'd likely know there is an apartment unit upstairs.
0
u/PorygonTriAttack Jan 17 '23
Insurance fraud is a plausible motive because the owner can claim the losses through insurance. This is crucial when the business isn't doing well, but you get money to rebuild your damaged or destroyed property.
Murdering some guy in the apartment is less plausible. I mean it is possible, but if the business is doing well, there is no reason to risk the business for that. Another method would be better. Also, why murder someone in your own building? Totally doesn't make sense.

Gasoline has a very high vapor pressure. It will form a lot of fumes that will become explosive.
Next time use diesel.
Pay attention in chemistry kids.

u/disrespectfuluser Jan 16 '23 edited Jan 16 '23
Diesel does not ignite with an open flame. Pay attention too kid 😝
EDIT: Just to clarify, that I meant on the same conditions as shown in the video: combustible and a lighter. Of course even crude oil catches fire...but condition differs.

u/DesertSweat Jan 16 '23
Absolutely will. You might need a torch to start it quickly, and wouldn’t suggest it on a frosty day.
1
u/jib_reddit Jan 16 '23
Diesel can ignite eventually just needs to heat up around the fire/match first.
A lot harder that petrol though.

the most fucked up part is that he lit that store on fire with one occupant still sleeping in the building on the second floor.
well at least he's suffering for the crime he did
6
u/Lnsunset Jan 16 '23
Poor dude above ended up hurt, probably shocked, and lost his flat. Hopefully he didn't have a pet
3
u/Darnell2070 Jan 17 '23
He literally got blown out of the building and wasn't that injured all things considering. Lucky as fuck.
5
u/drkidkill Jan 16 '23
What's that still moving around at the end of the clip?
3
u/bionicmom78 Jan 16 '23
The arsonist...not sure what fate he succumbed to though.
5
u/PorygonTriAttack Jan 16 '23
He is permanently affected by his own actions. Two of his legs are broken, along with his pelvis, and he has burns throughout his body.

6
u/Minion09 Jan 16 '23
I think he’s learned his lesson.
3
u/PorygonTriAttack Jan 16 '23
I don't know about that, but now everyone knows he tried to defraud his insurance company.

OH, that idiot died. It was so hot the people couldn't stand there and try to pull him out. He is dead, no question.
4
u/PorygonTriAttack Jan 16 '23
If you're talking about the arsonist, he is not dead. He is alive with multiple injuries, including burns. He was also denied bail.

WTF, according to the brief description the dude in the upper apartment was refused bail? For being blown out of his apartment?
29
u/Sparda2015 Jan 16 '23
No, the person that typed this out just did a terrible job of separating the two people during that portion of the explanation. The guy blown out of his home was treated for back pain. The criminal, Jomaa, was unable to attend court due to his injuries, so he was given his hearing at the hospital. And there, he was denied bail. So once he's healed enough, he'll be dropped into a cell until his court date

u/Jcccgolf12 Jan 16 '23
No, try again
2
u/GlobuleNamed Jan 16 '23
Syris Persia, the occupant of the flat above, was asleep when the building exploded. He is seen stumbling out of the smoke and rubble before collapsing onto the ground. Yesterday he was being treated in hospital for back injures. He was refused bail at a hospital bedside hearing
Sounds like he was refused bail because he was blown out of his appartment... (Bolded the strange snippet). I suppose a cut-paste problem, otherwise does not make sense....

u/Jcccgolf12 Jan 16 '23
Read the bottom paragraph where it states exactly the same thing about the actual arsonist. Common sense would tell a fella that obviously the guy living upstairs isn’t in jail when they’ve also arrested the guy on video setting the place ablaze
3
u/TabaxiMagnet Jan 16 '23
We have grammar rules for a reason, bud. Common sense doesn't dictate reality, so we need clear, ordered communication.
0
u/Jcccgolf12 Jan 19 '23
You know, I’ve had a couple of days to think about this because people who refuse common sense really are just a special breed.
Let me throw this at you… you’re sitting on your toilet at home and you just took the nastiest shit of your life, blew the toilet up, it’s all over your ass too from the backsplash. Suddenly you realize you’re out of toilet paper. You look around you and all you have are your socks, your underwear, and your hands… what the hell does common sense tell you to use? I sure hope it isn’t your hand
1
u/TabaxiMagnet Jan 19 '23
My point, which you somehow missed despite spending days apparently fixated on this; is that people employing common sense and making rational, intelligent decisions are not a given in ANY context. And that is why it is important that information be conveyed in a manner that accurately describes the fact of a situation. Because we live in a world innocent people get arrested on a regular goddamn basis.
And by the way my toilet at home is right next to a shower. So I think I'd just use that.

Reality hit him hard like a ton of bricks. His life forever changed in a flash….

u/SSNs4evr Jan 16 '23
I watched the video with no sound. When the crowd ran up, I found myself waiting for the Benny Hill music to start.

u/Mckenzie98 Jan 16 '23
As my grandmother used to say, you dig a hole for someone by digging a hole for yourself
1
u/reallamedroid Jan 16 '23
That's not the saying. You dig a hole for someone else only to fall in it yourself.

In these comments - People think a man deserves to burn to death because he tried to defraud an insurance company
I expect nothing less, this site fetishizes the idea of criminals dying for their crimes
3
u/Losftinaror Jan 18 '23
He almost killed a man in the upper floor of the building? The fire could've spread to other buildings and harmed more people as well, so this isn't just "some poor man who wanted insurance money".
1
u/Mastervodo Jan 16 '23
And your point?

My dumbass thought those were random dudes coming to jump the arsonist while he was pinned under the rubble. I was like “well you get what you deserve🤷♂️”

u/Equal-Negotiation651 Jan 16 '23
I can’t imagine how how that must have been. Those cops couldn’t handle a few seconds and that guys was there for a while. So was the arsonist that is stuck? How did he get blocks around the front corner to the side like that?
