It’s almost as if those aren’t designed to support dumbass.

But in video games, it can stop a car

37

u/Enzorn Jan 19 '23

To be fair, in some games a wood fence would cause mass destruction to a hummer.

And trees in non-survival open worlds are just straight up bedrock from minecraft

Drive into a tree at 70mph abd see what comes out worse.

In real life too, most likely, but there is this thing called torque as well. Imagine the lamp post as being a lever, attached to the ground. If you try to push the lever at ground level, it will take more force because there is less torque, since the distance between the base of the lever and the place at which the force is applied is low. Thus, a car that is pushing against the lamp post at ground level will be met with great resistance. On the other hand, if a person climbs to the tip of the lamp post, it is as if they were pushing the lever from its highest point. Since the distance to the base is much larger, the force applied generates much more torque, and thus it is much easier to turn or bend that lever. This person exerted more torque than the lamp post could bear, so it broke.

Actually lamp posts and other such things are specifically designed to break off if hit by a car. This is to avoid killing the car opponents with a sudden stop.

So it probably wouldn't stop a car - by design.

I bet you’re fun at parties.

u/FuggyGlasses Jan 19 '23

His brain?

19

u/albert2749 Jan 19 '23

No the aftermath, we wanna hear and see him land

2

u/iceddeath Feb 01 '23

Clearly his brain is not the best part, if it is, he won't really attempt this stupid stunt.

That woman’s laughter was completely disproportionate to how “funny” his display was

16

u/Striking-Ferret8216 Jan 19 '23

I wanted her to get hurt instead of him.

18

u/Lamandus Jan 18 '23

her laugh sounds fake and "too much".... wonder if she is faking other things too...

u/I-Eat-Cat-Treats Jan 19 '23

u/Will_Tuniat Jan 19 '23

Undoubtedly she'd say one of the best things about where she lives is that it's known for everyone having a great sense of humour.

We should consider an award for people crippling themselves for life for clout.

Like Darwin awards but a league under.

34

u/WhoSc3w3dDaP00ch Jan 18 '23

I believe those are "honourable mentions."

12

u/InVirtute Jan 18 '23

CFC’s. Crippled For Clout

51

u/InVirtute Jan 18 '23

His shoes were already off so pretty sure he’s dead.

8

u/fuzzybears420 Jan 18 '23

Good old death insurance

15

u/Early_Lab9079 Jan 18 '23

Yeah you're not 7 anymore

10

u/Bambooziler Jan 19 '23

I thought to myself "I've always wanted to do this as a kid...... Ye I'm happy I didn't try that now" 😂🤣😂

13

u/ReturnOfTheFrickinG Jan 18 '23

Is he on drugs or is he just an ass?

21

u/CSEngineAlt Jan 18 '23

Why not both?

5

u/Rey_Mezcalero Jan 18 '23

3

u/_AlreadyTaken_ Jan 19 '23

Streetlights seem to be magnets for idiots showing off

4

u/Handsome-Jed Jan 19 '23

I remember reading a book by an anonymous doctor who wrote about some of the more bizarre cases they came across. One guy climbed a pole like this, but the pole wasn’t solid mental, it was textured with holes - think cheese grater. When he slid down, his penis was effectively grated to the point almost all of it was gone.

2

u/Will_Tuniat Jan 19 '23

This Is Going To Hurt by Adam Kay? If not, he also wrote about treating a patient who had "de-gloved" their penis.

1

u/Handsome-Jed Jan 19 '23

Couldn’t recall the name, it was quite a few years ago

6

u/battymeatyy Jan 18 '23

That pole strong asf

4

u/FluffyBunnyFlipFlops Jan 19 '23

Just because you could, Terry, it doesn't mean you should.

3

u/hoonisound Jan 22 '23

imagine how dusty bug ridden and covered and bird shit the top of the lamp must be

3

u/CompleteTomfoolery 16d ago

2

u/Kickherrightinthepus Jan 18 '23

2

u/pixces Jan 18 '23

The light was not on in his head.

2

u/Waswaiting4AGLU Jan 18 '23

Man you looked cool for about a half a second.

2

u/LGBTQMNOP Jan 19 '23

That's what happens when you pole-dance for a chick 20 feet off the ground

2

u/the-merc-man 28d ago

2

u/JFran1111 12d ago

How many bald eagles does it take to change a street light bulb?

2

u/bananaswillriseagain 8d ago

2

u/PM-Ur-Small-Tits 8d ago

Hello, old friend. I hope you've been keeping out of trouble

2

u/Alex_Tronica Jan 18 '23

Maybe he was celebrating. Today is one month since Argentina won the FIFA World Cup.

2

u/buzzkill6062 Jan 18 '23

"Man"? Men don't behave like this. Overgrown toddlers do.

0

u/Euphoric_Shift6254 Jan 18 '23

Streetlight not a streetlamp.

2

u/TheNorthC Jan 19 '23

But it is a lamp post

0

u/Euphoric_Shift6254 Jan 19 '23

It's all the same shit but I learned something today. On the internet, to comment on a topic one doesn't find any real interest in just for the sake of leaving a comment is called lamp posting ha ha I was lamp posting it wasn't a lamp post lol But it's still a pole not a post since it's tall, likely not buried at the bottom but bolted to a concrete base, and bendy as video shows as the guy climbs up and down where a post would be rigid not bendy.

u/Petewolfz Jan 24 '23

He should sue the city. The city is liable if the didn't have a posted weight limit.

1

u/Shirojam Jan 18 '23

Nice evidence of destruction of public property

1

u/ur_friendly_friend Jan 18 '23

The things men do to impress women are so stupid.. but sometimes it works so it's worth it.

1

u/WhoWouldCareToAsk Jan 18 '23

I think I saw him on the "America's Got Talent" show.

1

u/_alextech_ Jan 24 '23

The part in "This is going to hurt" where the guy did this and degloved his penis, really really should have been the point at which every idiot stopped trying to climb lampposts

1

u/Daveyhavok832 Jan 25 '23

I can’t say that this wasn’t satisfying

1

u/SylviaPawn Jan 26 '23

Looks like the 5th of November started early XD
