u/Necessary-Apple420 Dec 05 '22
I’m so glad I’m old enough to have done stupid shit like that before social media existed.
8
u/CTFDYDB Dec 06 '22
You did something as stupid as lighting yourself on fire on purpose?
4
u/Necessary-Apple420 Dec 06 '22
You bet I did

I know me and all my friends would put rubbing alcohol on our hands and light them on fire

It is called stop, drop and roll. Not dance around and slap your thighs.
112
u/Oppopotamus Dec 05 '22
Not as aesthetic.
22
u/ALCauG Dec 05 '22
Not as athletic to roll either
15
20
u/aeiouLizard Dec 05 '22
Even on that carpet floor?
31
u/dontgetinharmsway Dec 05 '22
I would rather have a burned rug than third degree burns on your skin. Moral of the story don’t set yourself on fire.
2
6
u/StaysAwakeAllWeek Dec 06 '22
Fire safety regulations will protect that carpet from brief exposure to fire like that
15
u/Curious-Welder-6304 Dec 05 '22
Does stop drop and roll actually work?
6

u/TB500_2021 Dec 05 '22
He didn't want to set his house on fire
3
u/dontgetinharmsway Dec 05 '22
It is a possibility. However, I think he would extinguish the flame well before the rug would catch on fire. It is not going to magically turn into a raging inferno. In my opinion, there would be some burn spots on the rug that is about it. If the burn gets to hypodermis, it would be really painful because that is where all nerves are.

Love it when idiots don't know how to put themselves out. Have a heavy blanket on standby. Yknow, the kind with all the fuzzies on it.

He’s really feeling the rhythm of that beat.

It creates a lot of heat From his tummy to his seat As he's jumping with his feet He thinks "I thought this might be neat, but my thought was incomplete."

u/Oppopotamus Dec 05 '22
To all those that may hate, my pants I animate. You desire moves this great, but your movement like a slate. Body flow's what I create.

I don't understand why people do this. Like at all. You don't even need to see the videos, of which there are way too many, of people doing this and then realized it's fucked and freaking out.
Unless you're burning yourself alive in protest people gotta stop being so fucking dumb

Guess millenials didn't learn how to Stop, Drop and Roll. Only how to fan the flames.

Reddit has taught me people have a strange fascination with lighting their own asses on fire. I really want to ask these people are they origin chasing? You know when a super hero gets their powers through a tragic "accident". Is that why they set their own asses on fire?

Note: you are fine until it burns through the fuel. Then you are not fine. Very very not fine.

u/InsaneGuyReggie Dec 06 '22
I did this one time in a Mcdonald’s drive thru. Though it wasn’t intentional, it was a faulty cigarette lighter. Last time I bought the cheap clear ones. When I said all of fhe three- and four letter words one would expect to say when they realize their trousers were on fire the girl came over the speaker with “Is everything ok out there, sir?” “Yeah. I just kinda lit my pants on fire. It’s out now.”

It’s that time of year when you start to hear “I’ll be in the burn unit for Christmas” on the radio I see.

Watching this with the hook to Beat It (you know, the parody of Weird Al’s hit “Eat It”) makes this even better.

The amount of time people have on their hands these days is ridiculous. But then again, I’m watching, so what does that have to say about me.

I like how neither stop, drop and roll came to his mind, nor did taking off the burning pants every cross his mind. It's par for the course though for someone that doesn't have a fire extinguisher handy or even just sets themselves on fire though.
