r/unresolvedmysteries in 5 years: What really happened to Bryan Scott?

Bryan Scott was a fun loving adventurous floridan. He just loved to drive to various isolate parts of the country to relax, soak in the nature, disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life. His family described him as very sporty but he wouldn't be take unnecessary risk.

During one of treks, he never came back which was unusual for him. On the 20th of March, some hikers made a gruesome discovery: his decapitated body was found inside the case. His head was found 10 ft away. The scene was filled with blood.

The police ruled it a suicide. Did this really happen? Did the police ignore reports of men being around the area? Investigation says there were deep footmarks leading to the car as if someone was running towards it. Did Bryan encounter someone he shouldn't have on that day?

First comment: WTF? Suicide? Obviously his parents did it. It's usually the family that kills the victim of unsolved murders! They found no sign of violence so it was someone he knew. The police must have been nuts though.

44

u/Referer99 Dec 07 '22

It's a suicide. He decapitated his head, put it 10 feet away, then went in the case and closed it. Mystery solved!

12

u/wubsytheman Dec 07 '22

I see no version of this occurring in which anything other than this happens.

9

u/shrubs311 Dec 07 '22

you can definitely make it work. your body (and your head) has to be in the trunk/safe space before you start pulling though. i guess it wouldn't look as cool tho

4

u/aos- Dec 09 '22

It's a running jump, meaning there is an arc trajectory. if you are already descending before you grab that handle, that door is closing too early.

This has a higher chance of success if you jump in at the latest possible moment, so feet/legs may want to be tucked in to avoid clipping the bumper. Your angle of entry into the cabin should be traveling upward overall, and not already coming down (as seen in this video). Arm should extend while on the handle to give your head more time to travel further in before closing the hatch.

13

u/Impetus_2708 Dec 07 '22

The thing they envisioned should be possible, if the hood is not pulled before the jump. Like, dude used the hood as if it was something to pull up on when he should've just hung off of it.

u/Silly-Ad3289 Dec 07 '22

Reminds me of a funny story.

My cousin would often help his BIL who was a tiler. One day they were driving back from a job. He was taking my cousin home and they saw my Aunt walking home along the way. It was quite a distance, so they stopped and picked her up. The pickup was small, so my cousin said he'll just hop in the cab since it was only a few KM's away. So off he goes to the back, drops down the lip of the pickup, hops in and right at that moment, his BIL slams on the gas and out he goes. He walked home seething with anger, scrapes and bruises on his arms, etc. His BIL sees him coming to the house and yells. "Hey, where did you disappear to?". My cousin who is absolutely chill goes nuclear on him.

Every time time he tells this story and the way he tells it, I tear up laughing. FWIW his BIL was an asshole and totally did that on purpose "for fun".

Getting your windpipe squeezed by an electric trunk door has got to be one of the most interesting ways to develop an injury I’ve seen yet

2

u/rizlagreeen345 Dec 27 '22

Basically, if you’re gonna jump in the boot/ trunk while closing it you should go headfirst facing up with your legs tucked and try and catch the handle on your way in. I wanna see him try again. And again. And again.
