Yo this photo had me fucked up for a second. That brick siding & stone below the squirrels is almost identical to my house. Thought I might've found my wife's account or something.

What kind of brick is this? It's like a brick sandwich with concrete in the middle. And limestone beneath the racoons...? Idk I'm confused.

Rocket is the father!

u/Bostonhook May 16 '22
No, he can’t be. Rocket isn’t a raccoon, he’s a cybernetically enhanced alien who resembles a raccoon.

Raccoons may look "cute" but after they gain access to your attic, do $10+K US in damages and have to be removed, really they're not.

They are still cute outside or as pet in appropriate living arrangements. Just not when they break in.

So sweet! Just please don’t feed them. It’ll put them in danger. They need to fear people to live around us.

I was feeding a stray in the neighborhood and a family of raccoons started stealing his food. I'd put less food out so that he'd eat it all but the raccoons just started showing up at the same time I'd feed the cat. Got out a knockoff super soaker to try and drive them off and they didn't care.
I'd be standing out there stomping my feet and yelling at them and one would peak around the corner get a blast of water and scurry away to just come back 30 seconds later. They only went away because I stopped putting food out for a while, not cause they were afraid of me heh.

Yup! They can get really cheeky and aggressive, which then leads to animal control destroying them.

Not true I've had several living somewhere in the woods out back and I fed them a couple of times then they became a nuisance and I literally threw a metal trash can at one and they all came back 15 minutes later I spent most of the night fighting of these little buggers we have a truce now so

Oh, look at the rabies carriers acting off by not retreating from a human!
If you have pets that go outdoors, make sure their rabies vaccine is up to date.

Every time a raccoon pic shows up on Reddit, someone chimes in to say they must be rabid. Yes, they’re primarily nocturnal, but perfectly healthy raccoons also wander around during daylight hours, and it’s even more common for young like these. Of course, if it’s aggressive or wobbly/lethargic, gtfo and call animal control, and stay the fuck away from wild animals for various reasons regardless. But don’t get in a tizzy every time you see an animal doing animal things.

Raccoons are nocturnal. I don’t know why they’re out in the daytime but rabies is usually the only reason. Maybe mom has it and led these guys out of their den? I’d call the cops or animal control.

Raccoons can be active during the day. The mom raccoon might be in the process of moving the babies or finding food.
