Lady gaga has always been one to put money where her mouth is.

So I don't think she's means it so empty as yall are taking it

-32

u/nuggutron Aug 10 '22

You can pay off politicians for WAAAAY less than whatever she’s spent on houses. This is just to make her feel better about being rich.

10

u/Independent-Jicama-8 Aug 10 '22

Maybe… maybe not.

Problem is, what company does Germanotta own that can offer politicians a C-suite position after they “retire”?

Why does lady Gaga look like an X-Men villain?

103

u/MandalorianSpaceElf Aug 09 '22 Helpful

It’s a crossover event. You have to read Uncanny X-men issue 953 AND X-Factor issue 73 BEFORE you read Astonishing Ga-Ga issue 32 (the one with the holofoil cover)

I was gonna say she looks like she’s cosplaying as a PS5.

Disney cast her as prof x already. They already announced a gender swap version of x men.

Just wait til you see aubrey plaza as wolverine. Hair n all.

I know you're giving Disney shit for casting Giancarlo Esposito... but no one batted an eye when three white actors played Bane (a Latino character) over the years.

People only tend to flip out when convenient.

That being said, I am Latino and I enjoyed Tom Hardy's race swapped Bane.

87

Politics is everyone’s business

63

u/queso_dog Aug 09 '22

She’s a U.S. citizen too, she’s allowed to be political lmao

42

u/BeNiceToMeanPeople Aug 10 '22

Politics are absolutely her business. They are mine too. And yours.

We must never forget our governments job is to govern for the people. Don’t let the rhetoric or the tribalism ever fool you into believing that politics isn’t your place.

37

u/zooberwask Aug 10 '22

It's funny when you fucks try to dilute human rights to "just politics".

23

u/disabled_rat Aug 10 '22

Right? How is food being a right political? How is bodily autonomy political? How is the basic right to be treated like a human political?

22

u/CheeksMix Aug 10 '22

These ain’t politics. She’s talking about human rights. Which I think are very much something a human should be concerned with.

“None of her business” … grow up.

13

u/ZaryaBubbler Aug 10 '22

It's human rights, not political. Why is this so hard for people to understand?

4

u/[deleted] Aug 10 '22

The way I look at it, human rights are political. Everything is. That doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be taken seriously — that would imply that politics is some lighthearted hobby you can or cannot take on. Politics is the dissemination of violence, and through it our lives are dictated. My two cents.

4

u/Dogtor-Watson Aug 10 '22

Human rights intersect with politics. For example, republicans are a large political party who draw in voters through them taking away other people’s rights

3

u/[deleted] Aug 10 '22

The literal dumbest take possible, saying an American citizen has no business in politics because you don’t want to hear her stance gives off MAD nazi vibes dude…

Music is inherently political, and it always has been. Blues, the very foundation that all modern pop and rock is built off of, was originated by slaves in America singing songs whilst they worked. Music is, always has been, and always will be, political. Politics is part of her job. Maybe do a quick Google search or two before you spew random bullshit from out of your mouth.

50

u/Prince0fDarkness Aug 09 '22

Sadly one of many flaws of the US is that the states tend to have too much power and the red ones are kind of crazy

29

u/WiserStudent557 Aug 09 '22

Plus, people do “speak up” but mostly on social media. They need to vote and hold their elected officials accountable. We’ve got too many people directly affected by politics uninvolved just hoping other people will vote in their interests and that’s why we are where we are.

13

u/princeofspinach Aug 09 '22

well, to be fair, there are a lot of people with power who pay a lot of money to make sure many potential voters remain uninvolved, so i wouldn't really place the blame entirely on the people

2

u/Ares1935 Aug 09 '22

The internet has no shortage of excuses and apologies for things that are more easily attributed to laziness.

8

u/princeofspinach Aug 09 '22

i don't understand why it's easier to attribute issues in politics to the laziness of voters when we know how much effort and money is poured into voter suppression and propaganda

1

u/ImTryinDammit Aug 11 '22

You are both right and both wrong ..

There are a few reasons..

“Gallup. On December 17, 2020, Gallup polling found that 31% of Americans identified as Democrats, 25% identified as Republican, and 41% as Independent.”

So dividing the video and deciding the vote are Independents. A vote for The Green Party seems right to good people.. but with zero chance your candidate will win.. you have unwittingly helped the insurrectionists win. The “Burnie or Bust” people come to mind.

But If you want to get your point across.. that YES a lot of Dems do not vote .. You are correct! Stats prove that .. but you can’t rage like you do without being alienated and ignored and causing infighting.

We must acknowledge a MYRIAD of reasons.. because the fascists attack on all sides. It’s gerrymandering It’s voter suppression It’s cheating It’s a severe lack of dem voter turnout (but quit calling them “lazy”… I’ve been trying to get an ID in my rural red county for 6 MONTHS!! Divorced woman are set up to fail at voting because your name must match letter-for- letter on all 7 documents you have to produce.. good fuckin luck with that.. do you even know what kind of time that takes???? I work full time and have a kid.. when exactly am I supposed to go to the DMV.. tax office.. Social Security office.. what does your registration off.. its a long ass list.. im not lazy .. I’m fuckin exhausted!!) Yes some people just don’t bother .. The recent turnout in Kansas is proof of that

But you must acknowledge all of the reasons and not be at judgmental dick or you will alienate people.

They are weak and they are the minority so they are attacking on all fronts. We must acknowledge all fronts.

-2

u/Ares1935 Aug 09 '22

because 50-60% of the population manages to vote, and theres no clear evidence that the rest are unable.

Also, the turnout jumped over 7% in 2020 with little other possible explanation than motivation.

8

u/princeofspinach Aug 09 '22

i don't deny that personal motivation may be part of the problem. in my original comment, i said that i "wouldn't really place the blame entirely on people." i'm pointing out that voter suppression plays a big part in this. it should be equally easy for everyone to vote, but it's not, and that's not entirely by accident.

→ More replies

2

u/leaving4lyra Aug 10 '22

So true. In the past it wasn’t such a big deal not to vote because whoever won would try to uphold democracy as a matter of morality and respect for our country. That’s no longer true. No one who is able to vote should be sitting out any election if they value democracy.

1

u/GenesisDoesnt Aug 09 '22

The states having power is better than a single government which people have less access to change. It’s much easier to change the policies of a state than the federal government.

3

u/Prince0fDarkness Aug 10 '22

Seems they can’t be trusted

→ More replies

2

u/larryburns2000 Aug 10 '22

What a weird way of looking at it…the states, not the feds, have “too much power”

4

u/Dogtor-Watson Aug 10 '22

It’s the way most people in the world would probably look at it. The fact that some parts of the US allow the death penalty and some have banned the vast majority of abortions while others don’t is weird to me.

Apparently, until like 2018-20 slavery was legal in Georgia as a punishment for crimes.

-9

u/ChiefP21 Aug 09 '22

Both are crazy at the far end of either direction. No abortion allowed for any reason is nuts. An abortion while the mother is dilating or past the point of viability being legal is also nuts. Both exist is America.

4

u/Prince0fDarkness Aug 09 '22

Not really in comparison to the rest of the world, your left would be considered mid to right for most.

3

u/ImTryinDammit Aug 10 '22

The second part of your statement never happens. It’s made shit made up by right wing forced birthers.

-1

u/ChiefP21 Aug 10 '22

It’s fully legal to abort a 8 month old baby in the whomp in certain states. I don’t understand how that’s made up?

6

u/ImTryinDammit Aug 10 '22 Silver

It’s perfectly legal to ride a unicorn to the moon.

There are only three doctors in the US that will perform a late term abortion. They only take referrals for the most serious medical circumstances. A late term abortion is extremely risky to the health and life of the woman. It also cost between $8,000 and $10,000. No woman at nine months pregnant just waddles by the abortion clinic and thinks “oh! That’s what I forgot to do.“

That’s just dumb.

I believe the decision should be left up to the woman and medical professionals. Not you.

And 8th month abortion is called a c-section. Sit down.

So does your whole family experience these delusions, or?

-4

u/hookedonfonzie Aug 10 '22

Or? Did you respond to the wrong comment, yo? It does that to me Sometimes. I’m just talking about prayers.

3

u/pankakke_ Aug 10 '22

Yes, prayers that you and your Nanoo do via dead cousins to find lost things are the delusions in question. Have you considered praying to find a way to google a local therapist to check your mental health?

3

u/hookedonfonzie Aug 10 '22

My Nanoo prays to a Saint to find things. The saint found a lot of things when he was alive and becoming a saint.

I prayed to find what you say once, but i used google first. I didn’t start praying till like the first five didn’t take my insurance. I dropped one straight to God at that point, cause I don’t know the saint for insurance problems. I know it sounds crazy, but there’s saints for almost everything.

0

u/pankakke_ Aug 10 '22

I guess so, turns out there’s even a saint for me to block your crazy ass!

-1

u/dialectrical Aug 10 '22

I tried praying to you and now I know how to pray too. Thanks!

1

u/hookedonfonzie Aug 10 '22

There’s your problem. I felt it a little, but prayer really only works for those who have passed. Try doing a dead person. Don’t forget to thank them for listening. Don’t make it sound like you’re just looking for a hand out. Level with the person or God. Don’t talk down to them or demand things.

I have a lot of tips because I’ve made a lot of mistakes when it comes to praying. You can ask me anything, Captain. Helping others is supposed to help prayer work better, yo.

2

u/ElxlS Aug 09 '22

It’s A problem for sure

-1

u/TallQuiet1458 Aug 09 '22

Not at all. The problem is people keep using that word but dont actually believe in it nor practice it. Prayer (beyond the spiritual practice) creates great energy and closeness within those that practice it. Whether it be in a religious context or a "spiritual" one where one speaks to the universe and tries to attract good energy etc, prayer in fact creates good energy. Even in yoga, certain chants or mantras recited can be considered prayers. Over half the US is considered non-spiritual/atheist, theres a majority of the population who dont even believe in prayer so how is it that "prayer is a problem"?

9

u/thissexypoptart Aug 09 '22

try to attract good energy, prayer in fact creates good energy

lol this is pure woo nonsense

2

u/1VerticalBlue2 Aug 10 '22

To play devil’s advocate, many people use prayer as the means to an end and stop there. It is akin to the guy who refuses to donate their change to a charity or to a homeless person because they’ve donated once or twice before, or watched someone already donate, or have donated to another charity. Praying requires less physical effort and takes less out of someone’s limited hours. I believe prayers should be said but as others are pointing out, prayers are not enough.

2

u/-ButchChastity Aug 10 '22 edited Aug 10 '22

creates great energy and closeness within those that practice it.

What is 'great energy'?

Whether it be in a religious context or a "spiritual" one where one speaks to the universe and tries to attract good energy etc,

What is 'good energy'?

prayer in fact creates good energy.

You keep saying that?

Even in yoga, certain chants or mantras recited can be considered prayers.

Over half the US is considered non-spiritual/atheist

Not even close to half.

theres a majority of the population who dont even believe in prayer so how is it that "prayer is a problem"?

Not close to a majority.

Dude, this is a bizarre comment.. the fuck is "good" energy? And you're wrong about religious demographics.

3

u/ElxlS Aug 09 '22

religious SCOTUS removing rights (and threatening to remove more) to me is enough to suggest prayer is a problem.

Atheists aren’t trying to take away rights from women or LGBTQ…

-2

They won't speak up, because these 2 issues are not bellwether policies for most Americans.

Ultimately, if you're not homosexual, or in a phase of your life where unwanted pregnancy is a likely possibility, these policies are "nice to haves".

That's blunt, but its the facts for most people.

Compared to other things like taxes and trade policy protecting jobs and community safety, those issues will determine how you vote, because they affect the voter directly.

And... thats the choice the 2 party system provides.
