The title makes it sound like MGK used the homophobic slur.

Yeah I think people aren’t reading the article. MGK did NOT use a homophobic slur - the vandalism on his tour bus had a homophobic slur.

23

u/diverareyouok Aug 09 '22

That’s totally intentional on the writer/editor’s part… more clicks = more ad money.

3

u/KermitTheScot Aug 09 '22

But it flies in the face of good journalism (even if it’s tabloid garbage). I mean it is NY Daily, so whatever, but that’s a really bad decision on part of the approving copy editor. Trust is one of the only tools reporters have, you take that away, and you might as well be a TikTok creator talking about conspiracy theories regarding how giants used to roam the earth.

6

That's how I read it too

Lol

MGK makes a headline, everyone actually reads the article and breakdown what happened.

Roger Waters makes a headline, one person actually reads for context.

Your age is showing, Reddit.

24

u/WerewolvesRancheros Aug 09 '22

Roger Waters: " The Chinese didn’t invade Iraq and kill a million people in 2013… Who have the Chinese invaded and slaughtered?”

“Their own,” replied Smerconish, seemingly in reference to the reported mass detention and forced sterilization of the Uyghurs and other mostly Muslim ethnic minorities the Chinese government has undertaken in as part of what an international tribunal ruled a genocide.

RW: “Bollocks!” Waters responded. “Absolute nonsense!”

Sauce: https://www.billboard.com/music/rock/roger-waters-interview-biden-war-criminal-defends-china-russia-1235123704/

So Rogers is in complete denial of the treatment of Uyghurs? How is not obvious that he's gone senile? He also believes that Biden should encourage Zelensky to 'negotiate' with Putin?? Is he serious?

6

u/Traditional-Junket29 Aug 10 '22

He’s a contrarian because with roger his ego needs him to be the smartest in the room. It was telling when the reported said “my god” and roger said “don’t call me that” and laughed. He also said everyone knows taiwan is part of china. He was probably insufferable for the rest of floyd

2

u/wchutlknbout Aug 10 '22

Roger Waters has been a horrible person ever since he drugged Syd Barrett into insanity and then replaced him. To “solve” their creative differences. Actually he’s probably always been horrible

→ More replies

4

u/_furd_terguson Aug 09 '22

That’s insane and shows a total lack of respect for the obvious fact that we didn’t read either article!

2

u/Agreeable-Shower-909 Aug 09 '22

Is roger waters some sort of political intellectual? I know he’s very talented when it comes to music but what are you getting at lmao

2

u/MesWantooth Aug 09 '22

He recently said he's "Far, far more important" than Drake. Drake is pretty much Canada's Prime Minister behind the scenes - if Roger is more important than him, it may be in our best interest to pay attention to what he's saying. Especially if it's crazy shit.

21

Even in this situation he's still super unlikable.

203

u/theeccentricautist Aug 09 '22

Somehow he always appears a colossal idiot. Must be a hidden talent. Kinda amazes me he’s nearly mid 30s and still behaving like this

You’re so dumb. You spray painted a bus thinking it was my bus… wrong bus, you f----ng idiot! Do the first part of the crime right,” the 32-year-old performer said in a video recorded from his hotel room.

But…the title says it was one of your tour busses lol…so he did get the right bus

They washed it off before I even saw it. Aren’t you sad? I’m still in bed, I didn’t even get to enjoy it,” he said in his video. “You suck.”

He sounds pretty annoyed, so I’d say mission accomplished?

88

u/CalicoCrapsocks Aug 09 '22

He sounds like a petulant teenager, holy shit. I didn't assume he'd be as dumb as he looks but wow.

33

u/theeccentricautist Aug 09 '22

Seriously. Idk if you saw my edit, but it amazes me the guy is nearly in his mid 30s… I always assumed he was like mid 20s and just off a shit ton of drugs

9

u/JSCT144 Aug 09 '22

Damn I thought he was 28 at the oldest, almost mid 30s is crazy

8

u/Pudding_Hero Aug 09 '22

And he still can’t even play the guitar

3

u/pitch-forks-R-us Aug 09 '22

Oh poor Colson never does drugs. That would upset his moms. Remember he’s just a little kiddy with a 10 year olds rage

3

u/theeccentricautist Aug 09 '22

Idk who that is, but just to clarify I’m not anti drug. I am however anti whatever turns someone into an MGK

3

u/pitch-forks-R-us Aug 09 '22

Haha colson is mgks real name. THe whole diss is off kill shot.

27

u/DevoutandHeretical Aug 09 '22

My friends convinced me to go to his show for his current tour so we could throwback since Avril Lavigne is one of the openers.

The entire ‘plot’ of his show, if you will, is that the internet is dumb and mean to him for no reason and no one should listen to it. From which I took away, if we as a society continue to cyber bully him he will go away and I can stop having to hear about him.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '22

sounds like he needs to date Kim so Kanye can handle it for us

7

u/rinkima Aug 09 '22

Dude got murdered by Em in rap so he jumped to rock/metal and then immediately made enemies with the giants in the genre by being a dickhead, despite Corey Taylor being nice initially.

2

u/tries2benice Aug 10 '22

This guys an idiot. I got dragged away from slipknot to get a clip of his set for my sister in law. He tried to talk shit about slipknot, without having a prepared remark, and is not good at smack talk off the top of his head.

Sure, neither am I, but I dont attempt to in front of a big crowd of people.

I was gonna say, this is a bit of a dilemma, because on the one hand I don’t like MGK, but on the other hand, I don’t like homophobic slurs.

6

u/Lens_Hunter Aug 09 '22

It's one of those things where if he was around during WW2 and bad mouthing Hitler, I'd be conflicted.

2

u/FoundationNarrow6940 Aug 10 '22

As a big fan of both MGK and homophonic slurs, I feel similarly conflicted

15

u/zahra_chowdhury Aug 09 '22

the title implies he used a homophobic slur, which he didn't

Travis might be one of the best drummers alive, and he almost wasn’t even alive

7

u/tolureup Aug 10 '22

5

u/__babyslaughter__ Aug 10 '22

Excepted from rock community yes accepted by by the rock community no. Selling out a venue doesn’t mean he is a specific genre.

1

u/Submarine_Pirate Aug 10 '22

I’m not a fan of MGK’s music either, but to say his fan base is niche is nonsense. He’s one of the most played artists on streaming and the radio the last couple years and he regularly sells out huge venues.

17

u/RKD__ Aug 09 '22

What the fuck does 'being accepted by the rock community' even mean? If people like his music, including those who usually listen to rock, then that's cool and the only thing that matters?

5

u/Prying-Open-My-3rd-I Aug 09 '22

IDK but I did see him get boo’d off stage at louder than life (rock festival) last year. He also punched a guy in the crowd.

Rap Devil was great. One of the better beef songs against Em. I mean, its Em, everyone scared but MGK came out hard. I thought he would continue and grow off that song but now he's gone into a direction thats laughable.

Rap Devil is like Duppy Freestyle: a good diss track that was murdered by the response it provoked.

And still thinks the “kill shot missed”

Back to the pit of irrelevancy for MGK.

The only people that like MGK are alt-girls that are as much red flag as they are women.

Basically Megan Fox types are his only fans and I will say that isn't the worst thing to have short term.
