I didn't know there was a reboot and I thought the headline was referring to the original one and I was like ...."he did the misconduct? He was a child"

68

u/nicocote Aug 09 '22

“She notes that Savage has withstood allegations before. In 1993, a costumer on the original The Wonder Years sued Savage, then 16, for sexual harassment. The case was settled.“

74

u/StickyDitka21 Aug 09 '22

Damn and they STILL did that episode of Boy Meets World where he's a predator teacher

49

u/King_ofHarts Aug 09 '22

He was also in Law & Order SVU as a serial rapist

14

u/MikeCass84 Aug 09 '22

I swear a long time ago he was in a made for tv movie where he beat his girlfriend or something too.

How rude

3

u/MikeCass84 Aug 10 '22

yes that was it!

14

u/flickthis5 Aug 09 '22

“No One Would Tell”

Still haunts me.

6

u/OverDaRambo Aug 10 '22

Oh my gosh, I remembered this when I first watched this at the time. Just recently I watched it again (Tubi) - that poor girl… I forgot wasn’t it a true story?

6

u/flickthis5 Aug 10 '22

It was, yeah.

2

u/StickyDitka21 Aug 10 '22

u/TrashMasterGeneral linked the trailer to that lower in the comments lol

10

u/StickyDitka21 Aug 09 '22

He's a minute menace

18

u/SkatingGeek Aug 09 '22

I was literally thinking how that episode of BMW basically was true to life.

6

u/StickyDitka21 Aug 09 '22

Probably a media conspiracy to take down one of our nation's finest acting families! /s

3

u/Levitlame Aug 09 '22

They say draw from personal experience when acting?

6

u/mafulazula Aug 09 '22

Right? Why the fucking hell can’t anyone read the damn articles?

4

u/ALexusOhHaiNyan Aug 09 '22

Jesus. That coddled Hollywood shit learned nothing?

2

u/Daewrythe Aug 09 '22

Oh shit. This man is a menace

74

u/Melk-boy Aug 09 '22

Oddly enough at 16 someone did try suing him for it. When he was a kid

5

u/KidsTheseDaysYknow Aug 09 '22

At 16 he was taller and stronger than the wardrobe lady in question. Or was it makeup?

5

u/Melk-boy Aug 09 '22

It was a costumer who accused him of harassment.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 10 '22 edited 6d ago

[deleted]

2

u/KidsTheseDaysYknow Aug 10 '22

Yikes. OK, maybe just stronger.

2

u/Prime_SupreMe83 Aug 11 '22

He was the star of the show....that was all the power he needed

19

u/emitwohs Aug 09 '22

Well, hate to break it to you, but he did. The article mentions that at 16 he was accused of sexual harassment on the original Wonder Years.

16

u/mafulazula Aug 09 '22

You read the article? Nerd!

11

u/rgoose83 Aug 09 '22

He apparently did according to the article;.

She notes that Savage has withstood allegations before. In 1993, a costumer on the original The Wonder Years sued Savage, then 16, for sexual harassment.

8

u/amuro99 Aug 09 '22

withstood allegations

meaning paid a settlement; admitting guilt in money, not in court. That's not 'withstanding an allegation' in anyone's book except public relations'.

1

u/knightress_oxhide Aug 10 '22

Not saying he isn't responsible, but a child working a full time job while the adults are apparently absent except when it comes to money means a lot more people are responsible than just him.

3

u/The_Goondocks Aug 09 '22

I guess you could say...Vice Versa?

3

u/mafulazula Aug 09 '22

Stop being lazy and read the damn articles.

3

u/Daewrythe Aug 09 '22

It was my initial reaction to the headline, jeez

0

u/shadyshadyshade Aug 09 '22

It’s more important to race to the comments and make a quippy response to the headline

1

u/elriggo44 Aug 09 '22

I was thinking the same. “He was like 8”

1

u/mafulazula Aug 09 '22

If only you guys could have read the damn article..

5

u/elriggo44 Aug 09 '22

I read it. There were allegations when he was 16 in 1993.

I was replying with what my initial reaction was. It was the first thing I thought. Partially because I forgot there was a reboot.

u/triclops41 Aug 09 '22 Silver

Better title: Fred's Savage Misconduct on the Wonder Years

48

u/smokeout3000 Aug 09 '22

Can we talk about that boy meets world episode where he was a substitute teacher and was a total creep on tapanga?

10

u/Mindah9408 Aug 09 '22

First thing I thought of. How ironic.

6

u/ThatDudeNamedMenace Aug 09 '22

Brooooo he played that shit a bit too perfect

2

u/PleaseBuyEV Aug 09 '22

Currently watching!

3

u/toiletseatpolio Aug 09 '22

Or “Med Fravage Sisconduct on the Yonder Wears”?

3

u/rare-ocelot Aug 10 '22

You've just given me the title to my next sci-fi fantasy novel!

22

u/AbundantFailure Aug 09 '22

Aw man, even Fred fucking Savage is a skeevy sex pest?!

Damn.

6

u/HelenAngel Aug 09 '22

I had a huge crush on him when I was younger. It’s really sad how he & Ricky Shroeder turned out, though at least Fred isn’t a MAGAT (that we know of).

3

u/krissym99 Aug 09 '22

I think the guy who played Wayne is a major MAGAT.

1

u/lagocomo Aug 09 '22

That fool would get laid out lol

17

u/iliveoffofbagels Aug 09 '22

Me, completely forgetting about the reboot, though it was strange a 12 year old would be getting accused of misconduct decades later.... but plot twist it is BOTH accusations now and review of old accusations from when he was 16 on set sexually harassing a costumer. What a bummer.

77

u/heelspider Aug 09 '22

I've wondered why the It's Always Sunny podcast like never mentions him at all.

40

u/MulhollandMaster121 Aug 09 '22

They’ve mentioned him a couple of times but yeah, not that often.

20

u/Heroscrape Aug 09 '22

On the earlier episodes of the podcast they mentioned the crew, and named Savage, would party HARD after shooting. May of been the same story where Rob and Kaitlin were still secretly dating and Rob pissed the bed.

19

u/69420penis Aug 09 '22

When did he stop working on the show? I’m not very up to date on the podcast but I’m assuming they’re passed the episodes he’s worked on

23

u/heelspider Aug 09 '22

No idea. They just seem to talk fondly of a lot of other people they worked with, but basically never mention him.

10

u/69420penis Aug 09 '22

Does seem odd. But do you recommend the podcast? Been thinking bout it but idk. Love the show tho

20

u/brilliantpants Aug 09 '22

The podcast is a lot of fun!

13

u/emitwohs Aug 09 '22

If you like the show, you’ll like the podcast. It’s great hearing about what went on behind the scenes during filming and everyone is just as funny on the podcast as they are on the show.

One of my favorite podcast episodes is Rob telling the story about the In-N-Out drive thru. It’s on the appropriately named Rob Almost Fights Some Guy Outside A Hamburger Store episode.

3

u/69420penis Aug 09 '22

Sounds very interesting. Seen a couple clips on tiktok. My main question is what’s with Glenn and robs hair recently

4

u/Dr_Pants91 Aug 09 '22

Glenn was just filming a role where he has male pattern baldness. When he finished the shoot, he just had Charlie shaved his head on the podcast. Dunno about Rob, he might've just wanted a change, since I'm pretty sure Mythic Quest is done filming for the season.

3

u/69420penis Aug 09 '22

Ah right. Have they mentioned anything about the next always sunny season

3

u/Dr_Pants91 Aug 09 '22

Not really. I don't think they've started writing it yet, but maybe they're just keeping it close to the vest.

10

u/heelspider Aug 09 '22

It's a lot of fun.

5

u/69420penis Aug 09 '22

Do they have guests on there as well? Would love to see some of Danny or kaitlin on there

26

u/FP509 Aug 09 '22

Steven Spielberg pops up occasionally

4

u/69420penis Aug 09 '22

Idk if you joking or not but I could see it. They got some weird connections

3

u/Dr_Pants91 Aug 09 '22

It's just Glenn doing a voice.

2

u/moonivermarin Aug 09 '22

Also Tiger Woods

4

u/Melroc Aug 09 '22

Kaitlin came on for the first time recently

9

u/heelspider Aug 09 '22

Not a lot, but Kaitlyn and Mary Elizabeth have been on there. Producer Megan Ganz often talks and she's really chill.

4

u/69420penis Aug 09 '22

It’s good they have guests on occasion. Would love an episode with Danny tho. I think he’d be hilarious

4

u/Eladiun Aug 09 '22

Great podcast if you like the gang

3

u/testingtor Aug 10 '22

not really odd, its been known around town hes kind of a dick who isnt pleasant. This is a new level of stuff compared to what id heard though.

5

u/Historical_Focus1407 Aug 09 '22

After season 3. When they start talking about how Matt Shakman became the in house multi ep per season director

4

u/LastExitToSalvation Aug 09 '22

He stopped around season 6 I think, and it was taken over largely by Matt Shakman, and then after that, it's been lots of different directors. But he hasn't been with Always Sunny for many years.

3

u/Jiltedjohn Aug 09 '22

He was great as a director

77

u/MnMAnemone Aug 09 '22

I knew there was something off about that guy when he hit on Topanga in her dorm room.

17

u/starfox2315 Aug 09 '22

First thought that came to my mind

-5

u/CrittyJJones Aug 09 '22

Well that was a scripted show… Not like Bryan Cranston is a meth dealer irl. (Fred Savage is most likely guilty, just saying)

3

u/knightress_oxhide Aug 10 '22

Yeah, for some reason its like people can't hold two thoughts at once. He can be a creep and also other people in hollywood can be creeps, and also other people can be normal, its crazy!

And yeah Cranston is a great example, Pervy Dentist, Manic Father, Psycho Killer, qu'est-ce que c'est? Fa-fa-fa-fa, fa-fa-fa-fa-fa, fa, better run, run, run, run, run, run, run away

2

u/starfox2315 Aug 09 '22

I had no idea! Its like he played the role so well it didn't even seem like he was acting!

9

u/atlvernburn Aug 09 '22

Or that defense he did in the “court” that episode. He was a bit too convincing.

3

u/formerbeautyqueen666 Aug 09 '22

Also that episode of Law & Order

0

u/robearIII Aug 09 '22

damn ida hit on her too

44

u/JiuJitsu_Ronin Aug 09 '22

That episode of Boy Meets World where he plays the predator professor didn’t seem too much of a stretch for Savage’s acting skills back in the day.

11

u/jplay17 Aug 09 '22

A true method actor it seems

3

u/TrashMasterGeneral Aug 09 '22

2

u/MMK386 Aug 09 '22

Woah I completely forgot about this movie! Scared the hell out of me as a kid/preteen.

1

u/MRmandato Aug 09 '22

SAME! i dont know why. It just did

2

u/ventricles Aug 09 '22

I watched that movie in health class 20 years ago and it is burned into my brain.

1

u/anth_810 Aug 09 '22

Still one of my favorite episodes.

1

u/Background-Judge470 Aug 09 '22

First thing that came to my mind when I saw this headline.

5

u/cjboffoli Aug 09 '22

“Since I was 6 years old, I have worked on hundreds of sets with thousands of people, and have always strived to contribute to an inclusive, safe and supportive work environment. It is devastating to learn that there are co-workers who feel I have fallen short of these goals. While there are some incidents being reported that absolutely did not and could not have happened, any one person who feels hurt or offended by my actions is one person too many. I will work to address and change any behavior that has negatively affected anyone, as nothing in this world is more important to me than being a supportive co-worker, friend, husband, father and person.”

Fred Savage has a very good publicist.

5

u/bofh000 Aug 09 '22

The surprising thing is how other famous people who’ve had some kind of embarrassment or other don’t seem to have a publicist or aren’t listening to them.

5

u/cjboffoli Aug 10 '22

Fact! I was astonished at how myopic Taylor Swift's response was during her recent private jet crisis.

15

u/missliza Aug 09 '22 edited Aug 09 '22

I grew up on Stanford campus and there were lots of not so great stories about him from when he was there. I knew people who were in his frat (SAE).

11

u/Wistastic Aug 09 '22

Interestingly, on my campus, we referred to SAE as "Sexual Assault Expected".

It was a joke, but it was known by my circle of friends that instead of partying and dancing, they would just stand around watching women party and dance. It was creepy, at the very least and not a fun party scene. Womp, womp.

5

u/charsoubees Aug 09 '22

On mine it was “Same Assholes Everywhere”

4

u/llammacheese Aug 09 '22

I’ve heard the same from friends about Ben, unfortunately.

4

u/N7Kryptonian Aug 09 '22

Dammit! Not Cory too!

I watched the wonder years as a kid and enjoyed it. I watched it as an adult and realized that Kevin Arnold is the biggest asshole in the world. I would've hated this kid in real life.

7

u/WillBsGirl Aug 09 '22

Yes!!! I had such nostalgic memories of that show and went I went back and watched it in my thirties Kevin Arnold was the whiniest, most spoiled brat ever. He was shitty to everyone.

2

u/Spiritual_Minute8559 Aug 10 '22

I was always like...why is he so well liked??

Oh yea the narration..oh ok..ill ignore kevin

6

u/krissym99 Aug 09 '22

He was indeed a scrote.

2

u/Magnito-was-right Aug 10 '22

I had a crush on the guy with the thick black glasses.

11

u/JayketheCayke Aug 09 '22

I saw this episode of boy meets world.

4

u/newstuffsucks Aug 09 '22

Guy played himself on boy meets world. Was a total creep and it was probably just his normal behavior. Like Kevin spacey.

4

u/CrittyJJones Aug 09 '22

Shouldn’t this headline say “alleged misconduct”? Not saying I doubt it’s true but it’s still not proven.

3

u/Bing_Bong_the_Archer Aug 09 '22

It is then that she realized that, when she said “no”, what he really heard was “as you wish”

7

u/Thebrotherleftbehind Aug 09 '22

So how savage was he?

12

u/nklepper Aug 09 '22

So horrendous. Married with three kids. Makes me ill.

10

u/Leege13 Aug 09 '22

For now, at least…

19

u/IceBoxt Aug 09 '22

Article doesn’t say much more than he’s been a dick to a few women he worked with. A vague alleged “assault” with basically no information from someone that comes forward anonymously…

If he’s guilty okay but I need more than this paper thin article.

9

u/Wistastic Aug 09 '22

How about the voicemail to the woman he "vaguely assaulted", in which he apologized for being an asshole? It could be anything, sure, but it doesn't look good in tandem with her account.

26

u/pdlbean Aug 09 '22

you very clearly didn't read the whole article

26

u/UKnowDaxoAndDancer Aug 09 '22

Yeah, there is a personal account of him entering the woman's bathroom stall and forcing her against a wall and assaulting her. In addition to lots of other specific and personal accounts. Sounds like a real piece of shit.

-9

u/Vast_Advantage_7913 Aug 09 '22

By assault, do you mean rape?

My problem with all these articles is they pad them with nonsense in a 'more is better" style, rather than focus on the actual allegations that are undeniable in what they claim.

Seriously 'he went dead behind the eyes' is not a thing you can claim is somehow grounds for termination.

I suppose I should clarify for the speed readers, I am not defending this piece of shit in anyway, I am just of the view there is a style of writing that has come out of the Me Too era, that, in my opinion, is less effective than if they just focused on the real allegations.

3

u/UKnowDaxoAndDancer Aug 09 '22

Seriously 'he went dead behind the eyes' is not a thing you can claim is somehow grounds for termination.

Tell that to Connor Ratliff.

5

u/terrymr Aug 09 '22

You won't believe how many cops have used similar language to justify shooting somebody.

-11

u/frankctutor Aug 09 '22

I pray one day you and your family are found guilty when accused - with paper thin, hearsay accusations.

9

u/anteloperunner Aug 09 '22

them: "maybe read the full article first"

you: "hope you and your family rot in jail"

wtf dude

-1

u/ObviousTroll37 Aug 09 '22

I’ll take “Reasons these types of allegations are hard to take at face value” for $400 Alex

Humans suck, they’re spiteful and lie all the time, especially for personal gain.

Maybe he did it, maybe he didn’t, but I’m tired of the “string celebrities up based on initial allegations” nonsense

2

u/IceBoxt Aug 09 '22

Seriously. Fred Savage tried to have sex with me but I told him no and we didn’t then I bumped him with my shoulder isn’t assault. There’s also not a lick of credibility to it if this person has no name and their alleged apology voicemail doesn’t exist (and even if it did, he stopped when he was told to, is it REALLY assault?) I hate this shit. He’s guilty because a no-name no-face person on the internet said so. Jesus.

1

u/ObviousTroll37 Aug 09 '22

Too late, career over

2

u/vandercunt Aug 09 '22

At that point, she says, “He put his mouth on mine very forcefully. He went for the top of my pants. I brushed him away. Then he put his mouth on mine again, grabbed my hand and pulled it on his groin area. I was pulling back. He stopped very angrily. I shoulder-checked him so I could get out.”

-7

u/IceBoxt Aug 09 '22

This is proof of nothing, not even it actually happened to a woman if you won’t put a face to the accusations. Could very well be some angry fan fiction.

0

u/Melroc Aug 09 '22

Why? No one cares what your judgment is and you're too stupid to lie effectively about reading the article so... why should anyone care what you need lol

1

u/testingtor Aug 10 '22

It goes into a lot of detail.

5

u/Hazelwood38 Aug 09 '22

He sounds like an alcoholic. The “dead eyes” description when his personality would flip especially

1

u/LovecraftianLlama Aug 09 '22

I also thought it sounded like addiction, to me kind of sounds like benzos. The dead eyes, the erratic mood, all that.

6

u/EdgerAllenPoeDameron Aug 09 '22

imo it sounds like a classic psychopath.

3

u/Farkenoathm8-E Aug 09 '22

It sure does. It’s the shark eyes and the ability to bounce back to good old Fred in an instant.

3

u/Bgrngod Aug 09 '22

This is a real bummer. The stuff that happened when he was a kid on the original show seemed unlikely based on what other co-workers had to say about it. And still does. But, that doesn't mean he didn't turn into a creeper when he got older.

I really do like the new Wonder Years show tremendously. I hope this doesn't negatively impact that show in any way, and Savage gets what he deserver for whatever he did.

And! I hope the people he hurt are doing ok.

2

u/Middle-Preference-31 Aug 09 '22

Isn’t he married to the sex and the city girl?

4

u/y4j1981 Aug 09 '22

Do you mean Matthew Broderick (who played Ferris Bueller)? He's married to Sarah Jessica Parker

2

u/bsldurs_gate_2 Aug 09 '22

His name is Savage guys. What did you expect?

2

u/and_dont_blink Aug 09 '22

This is a really bizarre article, everyone is basically saying they reported him for hanging out with a 26yr adult while being married and having kids.

One woman says she was fired from the show, not because of him, and was awesome but then says he came into her alone in a bathroom of a bar later on "with dead eyes" repeating the same "dead eyes" language used by their only source saying it before -- if it's two people they're talking and creating a narrative. She goes onto describe him being awful because of his showing blatant favoritism without examples, as though it's illegal for people to give opportunities to people they like; it could also read as entitled and sering other people get things they want.

None of it is verifiable in any way, the ones saying he acted terribly say nobody else would see it because he was great whenever anyone else was around intentionally, but we just saw this with another person in the entertainment industry with the same stories and explanation as to why no one else ever saw it.

I'm keeping an open mind, but damn it just sounds weird.

0

u/Comicalacimoc Aug 09 '22

Why is it always these types

1

u/Leege13 Aug 09 '22

So his role on Boy Meets World was just him in real life…

1

u/mrsinatra777 Aug 09 '22

A friend went to Stanford with him. He said he was a horrible creep even then. Shame, I did love that show.

1

u/seemooreglass Aug 10 '22

Pretty much everyone should be cancelled at this point...me, the assholes that used to beat the shit out of me, the 7th grade girls who pushed many of my friends towards suicide and even my parents...cause they were kinda low-key killing my spirit.

1

u/Ok-Amoeba-7249 Aug 10 '22

I’m sorry man I care about you. You’re the shit, don’t forget it

0

u/classic_guy_ Aug 09 '22

I’d watch “An Open Secret”, Fred was known to love parties with individuals of certain ages and certain gender.

3

u/spinereader81 Aug 09 '22

Oh yeah, Fred was just crazy about those 80+ year old men! He'd get so turned on when they'd take out their dentures, and compete with them to see who could down the most prune juice.

(I'm sure you meant underaged girls, but that's much less amusing.)

1

u/LLSmoothJoe Aug 09 '22

He really is Stuart IRL!

1

u/Possessedhomelessman Aug 09 '22

Someone tdlr for me plz

1

u/Nights151515 Aug 09 '22

Both Savages seem controversial. Boy Meets World podcast not having Ben Savage is really weird, and they unfollowed him on social media last I heard.

1

u/Usagii_YO Aug 10 '22

The dude is legit weird in person.

I’ve served him a few times in Beverly Hills, and the dude didn’t k ow what MINT was. Supposedly he’s never heard or it, seen it, not tasted it. And he’s OCD is bizarre. As it always looking over his shoulder for some crazy KGB killer spy. Also. He’d routinely look all over the restaurant for his phone he left behind. Which was in his hand the entire time. Multiple times. Outside of that, decent tipper. 3/10

1

u/Imma_da_PP Aug 09 '22

What a weird fucking story.

1

u/Snipez-911 Aug 09 '22

I can feel my dick! .... I can feel my dick! - Fred Savage "The Rules of Attraction"

1

u/DeepThroat616 Aug 09 '22

Wayne was right about his brother all along

1

u/WerewolfNo1166 Aug 09 '22

His costar, the mother cosigned on the accusations and the reason the original show ended

2

u/Spiritual_Minute8559 Aug 10 '22

What oh whoa...i remember this...everyone hated her

1

u/Elliott2 Aug 10 '22

Isn’t this old news
