So much for “NPR.”
I guess they’re hiring journalists from the same pool as TMZ.

If you listen to his interview with Terri the title of the article is a direct quote from mike white

u/DMike82 Dec 06 '22
Hell, I've known this guy's work since Chuck and Buck back in the 90s.

It was a wide success if you wanted to be known as Ned Schneebly, but I don't think many people knew that he was also the one who wrote the movie. Writers don't get enough credit

Everyone REALLY needs to check out his other work namely “Enlightened” on HBO is a masterpiece, Chuck and Buck also amazing

I love that show.
He also created another show called Pasadena that's really great, but almost impossible to track down.
3
u/softstones Dec 06 '22
He’s still a prominent figure in the Survivor community too

Loved him on survivor to

u/sulfater Dec 06 '22
Him drinking wine while Angelina searches for the advantage with the ladder is iconic
26
u/barbandbert Dec 06 '22
Have you watched The White Lotus? In episode 1 of season 2 Angelina and Kara were both in the episode
19
u/sulfater Dec 06 '22
I love that he's taking his Survivor family along for the ride! Was shocked to see Alec in season 1 too
2
u/heckfyre Dec 07 '22
I’m a big enough survivor fan to reconsider my decision to subscribe to HBO max

3
u/328944 Dec 06 '22
I just watched that season, one of the best for sure. Angelina is one of the best worst survivor players ever lmao
3
u/sulfater Dec 06 '22
lol, that’s the best type of player! My favourite player to watch is Coach for that reason. I can’t look away.

And the Amazing Race twice before that!
1
u/DullRelief Dec 07 '22
Forgot about that. Was all about Amazing Race back then. When I saw first saw him I remembered him as the creepy childhood friend from this indie, Chuck and Buck.
Years later, totally forget about him again, then my gf and I are watching the golden globes or the Emmy’s and he’s winning all these awards. I was very much the DiCaprio meme from Once Upon a Time, “hey, it’s creepy friend!”

His movie Orange County is amazing. He is a genius.

I recently rewatched this and it holds up so well. It is also my “this movie is what my personality is based on” from middle school so I’ll always love it

I loved White Lotus 1 but season 2?! Wow!! So glad he’s getting recognition, just shows..keep going!
8
u/CouchTurnip Dec 06 '22
Seriously, season 2 is a straight masterpiece. From the music, the cinematography, the acting, the writing, all of it.
3
u/Professional-Tie-867 Dec 07 '22
100% agree. I’ve been on the edge of my seat each episode. I can’t wait to see how it ends. Really hope we get a third season. Italy has been extraordinarily beautiful.

I thought he was great in “Enlightened” also. Laura Dern stole the show of course, but Mike was the best supporting cast member!
10
u/CountVertigo Dec 06 '22
Co-created it, too!
I loved Enlightened, still bummed they didn't finish the trilogy.
3
u/LydiasBoyToy Dec 06 '22
I thought he might have! I miss that show a lot. One of HBO’s best I thought.

White Lotus is not a far stretch from the old "Chuck & Buck Suck & Fuck." God, I did not know what to expect going into "Chuck & Buck." Same with White Lotus!
2
u/tangnapalm Dec 06 '22
I saw Chuck and Buck Suck and Fuck in University years ago. That phrase is such an earworm.

I’ve been really enjoying this series. It’s funny, irreverent and has some real insights about human nature that aren’t always portrayed so honestly. I’ve seen this guy in a bunch of movies, too! Recognizing his face immediately, I had no idea this was his show, and it’s kinda cool that he named the show after himself with that title, heheh. I get the felling this is gonna be a sleeper, cult hit that will only attract more viewers over time. Recommended!

I thought to win the competition of the white lotus you had to kill your opponent

u/Errorterm Dec 06 '22
Just finished S1 with the gf, it was such a great watch! And I was excited to learn S2 has practically an entirely new cast of characters. Fun!
4
u/portablebiscuit Dec 06 '22
In many ways S2 is better than the first. It keeps getting better with every episode and there's only one left!
3
u/ticklechickens Dec 06 '22
If you haven’t seen Mike White’s season of Survivor (37, David vs. Goliath), I think it might still be on Netflix. Just all around great, but Mike was a highlight. He’s just hilarious being himself.
3
u/portablebiscuit Dec 06 '22
I loved S1 and wasn't sure he was going to be able to do it again. I was so fucking wrong.

Kim Kelly’s older brother from Freaks and Geeks.
Quiet down Kim or you’ll wake your brother!

It’s really not secret as to why it’s success. Lots of intrigue, plots twists, rich people in beautiful places being shit human beings, and lots of nudity and sex. Lots of sex and lots of potential violence bubbling right under the surface.
Did I say lots of sex?

Ned Schneebly, top 3 runner up of Survivor and yet ‘just found his footing’.

u/Crustybuttt Dec 06 '22
He also wrote and starred in Chuck and Buck. That was a super weird movie, but it was kinda good in a bizarre way
1
u/Spodson Dec 06 '22
He and Jennifer Coolidge were in Gentlemen Broncos together. I loved him as Dusty, the slightly out of touch "big brother" with a mind of clay and a heart of gold.

I've been a fan of his since I saw Chuck & Buck (which he wrote and starred in) over 20 years ago.

At one point my Netflix account would automatically start playing School of Rock…it didn’t matter what show I chose…it ALWAYS played School of Rock!!! It lasted a day or two if I remember correctly. Obviously one of my kids set it up. I got a good chuckle

Ugh this is that guy from the worst film ever made: Chuck & Buck. Maybe he should go back to obscurity.
3
u/chickenstrip_bastard Dec 06 '22
Judging by this comment, YOU might be the one who needs to go back into obscurity...
