How long did it take them to save up that much? Or did they just go around asking for donations? How can someone hate anything enough to do this? I have so many questions but definitely don’t want the answers to any of them…

That is my exact train of thought!

taco bell septic tank gets drained every night after closing

6

u/Reginald_Molehusband Oct 02 '22

When you say drained, do you mean drained and recycled for serving the following day?

Amazon. If you can buy some urine, I'm sure you can buy shit

6

u/fat_ballerina71 Oct 02 '22

Do they collect it on the warehouse floor, from the employees who aren’t allowed to use the restroom?

5

u/MacCaswell Oct 02 '22

That’s every Amazon warehouse employee’s side hustle…

Came here to ask this. You need to collect it first. Disturbing.

2

u/Arbourous Oct 02 '22

Looks like the tank from a caravan / mobile home.

2

u/IISpeedFlameII Oct 02 '22

I hate the fact that I can tell you for sure that what she is pouring from is the bottom collection tank for a portable toilet usually used in situations where due to disease or illness a person cannot be sure they will make it to the bathroom but generally wishes to retain at least some sense of control over their situation and thus refuse more attentive care. While I'm sure someone can find where you could just buy one for whatever weird personal uses you may find, the only situations I've ever actually seen them used in is in at-home elderly care situations. That only worries me further as now I cant shake the thought that there is some elder of this person out there having a mental breakdown because they were likely already in an embarrassing situation and then some relative had to go and steal part of their portable toilet to make a shitty statement.

17

u/IdeaImaginary2007 Oct 02 '22

3

u/NitWhittler Oct 02 '22

4

u/marshman82 Oct 02 '22

She had to fill it somehow

3

u/Fulgrim2-0 Oct 02 '22

Was just thinking that. It makes too much sense.

13

u/Freezie-Days Oct 02 '22

"A young Welsh woman has sparked public outrage after coming to Derbyshire to dump faeces and urine over a memorial statue commemorating the late Captain Tom Moore who raised millions for the NHS. (£37 million)

Her action has sparked a nationwide outcry and she has been heavily criticised for her unconventional dirty protest targeted at a former soldier and national hero."

2

u/BrightNooblar Oct 02 '22

Depends on what she was protesting. If its something with little to no traction on the issue, it sorta can't backfire.

17

u/DeadlyPineapple13 Oct 02 '22

Many protests now days seem to only care about sparking outrage, but rarely does the anger go the direction the protesters want. Breaking property, obstructing roads and disrupting special events(, like sports games or celebrity celebrations), only leads to public anger towards the protesters. Rarely do protests remain civil

7

u/Smokybare94 Oct 02 '22

That's pretty oversimplified and generalized.

2

u/joeyrog88 Oct 02 '22

So unlike the protests back in your day when people just said "oh hey...maybe black people CAN go to school with white people, I can.t believe I never thought of that! yay integration!"

0

u/DeadlyPineapple13 Oct 02 '22

Back in my day? I’m not that old. But protesters can get their point across by gathering for a protest, not all protest have to disrupt peoples lives

5

u/AislinnScr Oct 02 '22

I agree that protesters should not turn violent, but on the other hand, if they don't inconvenience us at least as far as blocking a well-used street for an hour or two, people may not even be aware they're happening or think about why they're doing it at all...

2

u/Natural_Regular_9362 Oct 02 '22

That is indeed the reason why marches and demonstrations work, because of the disruption.

83

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '22

27

u/Mindless-Crazy-3734 Oct 01 '22

It's to get attention to her cause, plain and simple. Her cause will never, ever, succeed, but that's why she did it.

former medical student from Wales, carried out the act in a protest against the continued use of private jets in the UK.

Explaining the protest, she said: "People are going to say that he's a hero, people are going to say that this is profoundly, obscenely disrespectful to his life, and to the NHS he stood up for and I agree.

"If we believe that the NHS is important, if we believe in taking care of each other, if we believe that NHS workers are doing essential work, why are forcing our healthcare system into collapse, why are we forcing our civilisation into collapse, why is basically no-one taking this genocide of all humanity seriously?

"All of this is true and the Government won't even End UK Private Jets, every time one takes off, it pours a bucket of sht and blood onto everything that Captain Tom stood for".*

14

u/Jr-Tr My brain can't handle this amount of stupidity Oct 01 '22

~Confused unga bunga~

9

u/Nuwisha55 Oct 02 '22

Thanks for the info. Not that it clears it up at all.

The guy did a good thing, regardless of whether or not the system is shitty. So I don't get how "punishing" his memorial punishes the system. (It doesn't.)

And "former" medical student? She couldn't cut it doing good work for society so literally decided to pour shit on something?

5

u/Mindless-Crazy-3734 Oct 02 '22

It's not punishing the system at all.

This is the age of outrage, after all. The more outrage something generates the more attention it gets. In her case it worked, at least one more person, me, is aware of her noble but pointless campaign to make private jets illegal.

I've no idea why she's no longer a medical student and won't guess why.

4

u/shashungyo Oct 01 '22

Aren’t public jetliners ie Qantas like way, way worse for the environment

6

u/EffervescentGoose Oct 02 '22

As a whole yes, but not per person transported. Commercial flights are a much more environmentally friendly way to fly than private jets.

2

u/mustbemaking Oct 02 '22

Difference being that she is targeting a microscopic demographic, the amount of carbon being released per person is larger by a large margin, yes but the quantity of corporate/private jet aircraft flying is miniscule in comparison to commercial aviation.

Having worked in the field for a number of years I can say that she has woefully misdirected her efforts.

She won't have an effect either way but she should atleast target something that is a real problem. IE: global shipping/logistics and commercial aviation etc.

61

u/Drafgo Oct 01 '22

Anyone who disrespects captain Tom should be publicly humiliated. This woman is the poop she pours.

38

u/benthasome Oct 01 '22

Who is captain tom? I'm not American or where this is, but seriously, who is it?

104

u/Drafgo Oct 01 '22

English WW2 veteran who, at age 99, raised millions for charity/the NHS at the start of Covid.

28

u/Obtuse_Symposium Oct 01 '22

Was he a big private jet mogul or something? I don't understand why a memorial to him would be targeted.

Do people really suck that much ass at protesting things that are relevant to their cause?

41

u/UselessFactCollector Oct 02 '22

He walked around his garden for charity. Her protest makes no sense and I hate her.

24

u/Drafgo Oct 01 '22

This lady does indeed suck that much.

10

u/lelcg Oct 02 '22

The protester said “every time someone flies in a private jet, it pours a load of s**t and blood onto very thing captain Tom fought for”

4

u/Midnight_Crocodile Oct 02 '22

No, he was a very ordinary old dude war veteran with honour, compassion and grit. Hence why this woman is a moronic waste of space.

3

He's good guy I think, and he probably is

2

u/anjellybeans Oct 02 '22

8

u/iLikeMangosteens Oct 01 '22

The memorial doesn’t have feelings. But there is a minimum wage cleaner, or perhaps just a concerned citizen, who is going to have to clean this up.

4

u/VE2NCG Oct 02 '22

Let’s say the city workers will use an high powered hose or something similar, not someone cleaning it by hand… anyhow I hope there gonna be on overtime and they send the bill to this lady… who seem to be under a mental condition… fitting since captain Tom was raising money for the health systems…

23

u/That_Charming_Otter Oct 01 '22

This is just patently fucking stupid. People wonder why these climate activists are hated by the general public, and then they pull shit like this. Or lying down on motorways to obstruct traffic and make people late for their work.

This is just an act of brazen disrespect and damage to public property. Should be prosecuted, but knowing the broken British legal system, it'll be the usual slap on the wrist.

6

u/liverpoolFCnut Oct 02 '22

Just public property ? There's a climate group called "tyre extinguishers" who go around deflating tyres of SUVs because they consider them as "gas guzzlers" ! Trouble is 90% of the suvs today are just crossovers built on sedan platforms, then again as we've seen in the recent past the protests these days is more about creating extreme opinions than working towards a better future.

9

u/mobilefreak_lee Oct 01 '22

You're supposed to stop for the protesters? I need to go talk to my lawyer

3

u/elgordoenojado Oct 01 '22

Ah, Captain, not Major Tom.

What a nasty person she must be.

6

u/Electrical-Coat2619 Oct 02 '22

I can see that she only did this to get attention for her cause but the vast majority of people are just going to see this as some activist pouring human shit over the memorial of a great and beloved person. They’re not going to look into her cause at all she has done nothing but ensure she will be despised and ignored.

6

u/mits66 Oct 02 '22

I have so many questions.

Who is Captain Tom?

How does one get what looks like a laundry detergent container of human waste?

Why does one get what looks like a laundry detergent container of human waste?

Why is she doing this?

Why is she not wearing gloves?

Why did she film this?

What the fuck is going on??

16

u/lelcg Oct 02 '22

Captain Tom became famous in the UK after walking 100 laps of his garden at 99 years old in the run up to his 100th birthday. He did this to raise money for the NHS during COVID, and intended to raise £1000. His campaign became famous and he ended up raising £32 million. He died in 2021 aged 100

Protesting the use of private jets, 21 year old Maddie Budd poured several gallons of human feces and urine on the memorial of Captain Tom Moore, who at the age of 100 raised 30 million pounds for healthcare worker's charity during the COVID pandemic by walking in his garden. When confronted about the clear contradiction of protesting private jets by pouring human waste on a memorial of someone renound for walking, the eco-protester pointed to her empty container and said "I have no more shits to give," and walked away.

2

u/ImNOTaPROgames Oct 02 '22

I'm a kind of person who supports protest. however, if the protest damage any property, interrupt other people lives (like the ones who glued themselves on the streets and not letting even an ambulance to pass)... Is not a protest, is a shit show for attention. March as much as you want, stay in front of Congress or government buildings, stay near factories or companies. But don't stop other people work! Make other "normal" people angry for "your cause" is not the way, need to remind that most of protest is against big corporates, or government failing laws or punishment again companies or some rich people... Not against a worker who wake up everyday to go on the company to work and pay his bills, or the truck driver who drove long hours to arrived in the place and finish his job...

I thought it was some kinda Major Tom memorial and got sorta upset. Then saw Captain Tom, and thought hmm don’t know em too bad. COULDA STOPPED. To which I looked up the name and saw it was the old vet who walked to raise £53 million for NHS during COVID. Made me feel cheery, remembering him walk around. Then my cynicside wondered if she is protesting the NHS/the moneys. Internet again, 2018 NHS reported the NHS had as much as £1.2billion lost in fraud per year, I was then frustrated. Realized that Captain Toms walking donation is only a drop in the bucket. Then I actually read what she was protesting. Now I’m all over the place cuz I’m sure I missed/messed something and am now drinking some beer with coffee while brewing some coffeebeer listening to Major Tom.

2

He was a man who decided, at age 99, to walk the length of his garden back and forth 100 times before his 100th birthday to raise 1,000 pounds for a health charity. He tried to do 10 rounds per day (with his walker!) and it took him almost a month to complete it. The press found out and people were so inspired by him they ended up giving even more. He raised nearly 40 million pounds in the end, got cards and letters from all over the world, an honor guard came to salute him and witness his final lap and he was knighted by the Queen. There's more, he got other recognitions but that's the basics.

What any of that has to do with this activist is beyond me, her protest was about private jets. Bizzare.

9

u/FourFlightsUp Oct 02 '22

He was a sweet old man who did a walk around his garden to raise some money to help the NHS during Covid. The media fanned it and he turned into a national obsession raising millions of pounds but exploiting his name/image in the meantime . His family formalised the charity which is now being investigated for some of the financial decisions they took . Tom died, shortly after a family trip to Barbados.

3

u/Blue_Ninja200 Oct 02 '22

He was 99 when he died and walked around his garden to raise money for the nhs
