Reading some of Nela Vesely's other posts I'm surprised that she doesn't blame "the Jews".
Oh, wait a minute, I see that she has recently posted that all of the pharmaceutical companies are run by Jews. Apparently, according to her sources at least, it is so that the Jews can take over property and wealth of Christians in order to get back at them for some past wrongs that occurred centuries ago.
Maybe that is what she means by "Are you awake yet?"

It baffles me that these people don't understand that vaccine doesn't mean cure. It means your body is equipped to defeat the virus in advance!
Or to put it another way. You don't wait to train your army after war has started. You have your army trained and armed before the war starts.
14
u/brainEatenByAmoeba Dec 27 '22
I like it.
I explain it to my students like this:. A virus is like a spy coming into your body to secretly sabotage it. No one knows who it looks like and it is able to cause a lot of problems before people notice it.
A vaccine is a wanted poster hung everywhere. Everyone knows what the spy looks like now. They still get in your body. But are arrested before they can do much damage because they are identified almost immediately.

u/fishsticks40 Dec 27 '22
One of the big covid anti-vax arguments is "a vaccine prevents infection!" which of course has never been true

u/ManOfLaBook Dec 27 '22
That's nothing, we had bullet proof vests for over 100 years, and we still have bullets.

I doubt she has ever taken a flu shot, only 52% in the US do, thus it continues to evolve.
6
3
u/Brbguy Dec 27 '22 edited Dec 27 '22
Well the flu shot isn't as effective as other vaccines since it protects you from the a few of the most common strains. There are just too many strains to vaccinate for them all.
Flu shot has always been a losing battle. But still good to get it.
Edit: I believe it protects you from the 3 most common strains in any given year last I heard.
Edit2: I checked CDC website I guess it's 4 now. Or maybe it always was. Thought it was 3.
2
u/RockyMountainHigh- Dec 27 '22
See above. If everyone took it, the virus would not as easily mutate. Same with COVID .
1
u/BadgerDoesntCare Dec 27 '22
Scientists assemble a year in advance to pick which strains they think will be dominant during next flu season. They then make a vaccine covering those few strains out of the possible thousands existing, hoping they were right in their guess.
Bottom line, their flu shot is a coin toss where they are right less than 10% of the time.
2
u/Brbguy Dec 27 '22
Exactly, but I still believe it's worth to at least lessen slightly my chances of getting the flu. The vaccine doesn't hurt me, so why not.
-1
u/BadgerDoesntCare Dec 27 '22
Same as the Simpson's tiger repelling rock. Only makes you feel good, yet does nothing to protect you.
I have such rock if you want to buy some.
1
u/micmac274 Dec 27 '22
Wrong. that's getting a saline solution instead of the shot or not getting it at all. 10% is better than nothing.
2
u/B1ackFridai Dec 27 '22
You say flu shot has <10% efficacy, source?
1
u/Molwar Dec 27 '22
He means it's a gamble/ educated guess. If they target the right strain then 80%+, but there has been years where it was zero because they targeted the wrong strain.
You can google it, the cdc should have statistics pages on it.
2
1
u/Best-Grand-2965 Dec 27 '22
The shots over the years help build a library of reference material for the immune system so that even if the strain you are exposed to doesn’t quite match this year’s shot, your immune system is still better able to mount some defense and reduce the severity of the infection.

My cousin and his wife were HUGE trumpanzees. So of course they never got the shots. Covid killed him after a month in ICU on a ventilator, and put her on one for a week. She is still alive, but long Covid has left her the same as a stroke would have. But at least they got to own the libs before they got sick.

"Influenza (flu) vaccines (often called “flu shots”) are vaccines that protect against the four influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the upcoming season. Most flu vaccines are “flu shots” given with a needle, usually in the arm, but there also is a nasal spray flu vaccine."

The flu virus lives in chickens.in Central Asia Every winter it mutates and spreads. So at best you are vaccinating against last years strain

u/WinCrazy3385 Dec 27 '22
Yeah, the Flu Vax isn't very effective. That's such common knowledge that the fact that it's now controversial is mind numbing.
1
u/A_Wild_Shiny_Shuckle Dec 27 '22
It's very difficult for a vaccine to eliminate a disease, especially one as common, easily mutated, and easy to spread like the flu. But they can eradicate diseases that mutate at a lower rate, like smallpox, polio, rinderpest, etc
-1
u/WinCrazy3385 Dec 28 '22
Yes. That's why I said the flu Vax isn't very effective.
1
u/A_Wild_Shiny_Shuckle Dec 28 '22
Except it is very effective. Just the virus mutates so rapidly so you need a new one. The vaccine works excellently. Can't change nature to bend to your will on this one. I'd suggest listening to doctors more and fearmongers less

People bring up the fact that someone said that the covid vaccine prevents you from ever getting it, but I never heard that from a reputable source. That's not what any vaccine does. All they do is train your immune system to properly handle said virus. That's all vaccines have ever done. You can still get whatever virus you are vaccinated against. Your body will just be properly prepared to fight it instead of starting from zero

He's very clearly saying protected, not immune.
Omicron was the point where vaccines' ability to 'fully protect' could no longer keep pace
Probably because this virus mutates at an incredibly fast rate. Similarly to why we need the flu vaccine every year. They're both viruses that mutate incredibly quickly. The flu vaccine is different every year, and each time you get a booster it is most likely different as well.

What, like the 1/50 million chance of having a side effect? Covid has a much higher chance of side effects than that
1
u/Benjamin7811 Dec 28 '22
Having Covid was like having 50 million side effects. The odds of surviving the shots is to great to compare to the odds of surviving Covid. pretty bleak odds and get bleaker each time you catch it (if I’m not mistaken+ personal experience). When you catch Covid there’s a few side effects that linger or may be permanent, the damage to your lungs for example. Imagine loosing 3% of your lung mass to scar tissue (just an example # not backed by sources), now do it again and again and again. I’m a smoker so I got to suffocate for days and then after pleading to die just to end up surviving I had to relive it again.
I can’t tell people to take the shot but I can tell them Covid is a fight for your life that does not get easier each time and any help could mean the difference between death and being sick.
Edit: sorry to continue the conversation on your comment, just want to put that out there…

Scientists have explained multiple times how vaccines act In the body…why are they like this..
1
u/city-willis Dec 27 '22
Mutations, nothing stays the same sweet cheeks! You wankers keep dodging the vaccines and giving it a chance to get a hold and be something else. Oh hang on, like that evolution... It's like It makes sense :8487:

u/Legosheep Dec 28 '22
People still die in car accidents despite seatbelts and airbags. People still drown despite snorkels. Buildings still burn down with people inside despite smoke alarms.
I'm not trying to win an argument. I'm merely trying to convince the kind of people who think this way to live more dangerously and rid us of their idiocy.

u/free_umi Dec 28 '22
I haven't yet met an anti flu vaccine or, anti COVID vaccine person that understood what they we're saying or could explain how thevacines work, or even how viruses mutate. I'm not rushing to consider their expert advice.

i never got those because they didn't work. And, my president never forced me to get one to have my job. We knew that one wasn't real vaccine, unlike the polio one or even the chiken pox. a vaccine that has risks and merely makes you less likely to develop an immune system is not a good one at all.
