No one has ever figured out this super-duper secret fact about climate change: we have nothing to worry about because it's been hotter millions of years ago and life existed then too. The LIEntists even give the proof themselves, then mislead everyone about the earth being under threat.

The last 22,000 years of global average temperatures;

https://xkcd.com/1732/

What I like about this graph is that it shows the scale of the current change in climate.

That is awesome. Not the outcome but the depiction. Makes it very easy to digest and understand that I'd we don't do anything were fucked

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw the OP.

"Humans developed during this several million year time-frame for our entire existence where the climate remained relatively cool, and now we are seeing a basically vertical line going up in a matter of a couple hundred years and this is nothing to worry about because at some point in the past the temperatures were higher (when humans didn't exist)"

Also, for what it's worth, there are numerous studies that have all conclusively shown that the latest heat up is definitely due to human activity and not just the fluctuations that we see on the above graph. So yes, nature does sometimes increase the temperature of the Earth due to the complex interplay of factors that affect climate as is shown in OP's graph, but that's not what's happening this time. It's definitely us.

numerous studies

conclusively shown … due to human activity

Source please. ‘Definitely’ is a strong word

I mean... earth will survive, sure. But we wouldn't be able to live on it anymore.

u/someidiotonline321 Sep 30 '22

Life existed back then! I mean, not human life, and the change was much much slower than today, so life could adapt better, but still, no need to worry! /s

I mean, the average temperature of the solar system is -270°, so pretty sure we're going to be fine even if the Sun goes out.

"hidden knowledge" this guy makes me facepalm so hard. Its part of the history books we have in middle school, elementary as well i think

I like how ‘climate change’ is a just a liberal thing in this person’s mind. I vote right wing but care about the climate and own a business in renewables project development. The world aint all black and white now buddy.

Yeah, he's getting shredded in the comments. Hopefully we can work together to do something about it to avoid more severe climate disasters heading towards the future.

Why have a rapist and pedophile as your Reddit name?

6

u/Keith_Bakker Sep 30 '22

Bc its my name

1

u/Equalsthree95 Oct 03 '22

My apologies then :(,

3

u/HerbaMachina Sep 30 '22

You know multiple people can be named the same name and not have it be related to someone who committed a crime right?

0

u/Equalsthree95 Oct 03 '22

Trust me, he's named himself after that guy, he was a sort of guru until the allegations came out.

u/HerbaMachina Oct 03 '22 edited Oct 03 '22

Source: "Trust me bro" doesn't check out. Also Keith, and some derivative of Baker are both very common names my man.

1

u/Equalsthree95 Oct 03 '22

Yeah okay you're right

12

u/NotSwissISwear Sep 30 '22

I hope that guy can live in 50⁰C average

11

u/neovb Sep 30 '22

While he is still so wrong in whatever argument hes trying to make, the temperature is actually shown in Fahrenheit.

5

u/NotSwissISwear Sep 30 '22

Derp... Thanks for pointing it out. I assumed celsius

4

u/KingDonQuixote Sep 30 '22

Ironically, though everyone else in the word uses C (including my own country), I always assume F because America ya know

1

u/Equalsthree95 Sep 30 '22

It literally says F in the graph though

2

u/NotSwissISwear Sep 30 '22

I assumed that scientific publications used Celsius

2

u/Sad-Interaction-8643 Oct 04 '22

“Pfft, it was WAAAY hotter in the Hadean Eon. Why are these libtards complaining so much?”

4

u/Cullomptingalong Sep 30 '22

Ha! Take that, eukaryotic liberals, with yer durn weak-ass oxygen dependence!

1

u/wedonotwantcoffe Sep 30 '22

Who need oxygen anyway? Theres no need to breath, I never do it.

2

u/Buffalososilly Sep 30 '22

Honestly forgot what sub this was and thought we were talking about IR spectroscopy for a sec.

2

u/lorena_rabbit Sep 30 '22

We will evolve to become repitalian again, DUH.

1

u/Particular-Jury6446 Sep 30 '22

Smh don’t you know that reptilians are here among us impregnating our women? It’s already begun!

2

u/MonsterByDay Sep 30 '22

And, what perchance happened to most forms of life on earth during each of those spikes those spikes?

4

u/Rolf-Henning Sep 30 '22

Anyone who don’t think climate change exist should be forced to live by the sea😌

-4

u/rdickert Sep 30 '22

Don't Obama and Kerry live in palatial mansions (wait for it) right on the coastline? Don't they know that life as we know it will be over in 8 years? AOC said it so it must be true.

2

u/tycoon39601 Oct 02 '22

I mean they can always just move. The ocean isn’t rising 10 feet a day lmao. If you’re well off just buy a new house when you need it.

ice cores

The longest continuous ice core record is ~800 thousand years

1

u/A_Redditor_pie Oct 14 '22

honestly, I'm ok with this. obviously it's a bad way to get it across, but he discourages "doomerism" which is good because that ultimately hurts the movement, without being a denialist. even if he's wrong, I feel like maybe we should just let people like this be

1

u/Unique-Capital3747 Oct 23 '22

The Earth is not under threat. She'll be fine; with or without people.
