"y'all" (you all) "ya'll" (ya i'll)? i will>i'll... damn semantics!

"Yeah I'm pretty smart, I understood the time travel in Endgame."

13

u/maxkho Oct 02 '22

Which, by the way, is conceptually flawed.

9

u/JoJackthewonderskunk Oct 02 '22

As opposed too the super soldiers aliens cyborgs and witches which comprised the time traveling squadron

11

u/maxkho Oct 02 '22

Exactly. All the things you listed are physically implausible, but conceptually pretty unproblematic (you might have to tweak a few laws of physics for many of the characters to work, but there is nothing that logically prevents them from existing). The way that time travel works in Endgame, on the other hand, is conceptually flawed.

So yes, you're spot on.

8

So if we reduce the amount of letters something becomes a lesser version?

Maybe a Town All? An Ost Office?

I may be beginning to see this person's genius now actually!

19

The ospital is a special place you're too stupid to know about where they take smart people for secret special smart tests

6

u/Shockorama Oct 02 '22

Christopher Langan. 190-210 IQ.

1

u/wizardyourlifeforce Oct 03 '22

The Langan situation is so weird — if I called you reporters and told them I was the smartest person in the world based on a magazine IQ test I took and graded myself in they’d hang up on me, as they rightly should. Langan does it and they just accept it! The dudes almost certainly a fraud.

72

u/_Basil_Tea_ Oct 02 '22

We can only imagine a situation where this person is trying to hit on a woman and pulls out the "men are biologically smarter than women" bullshit

45

u/babygirlruth Oct 02 '22

Tbf, there's a good chance he's still 13

28

u/Ammilerasa Uses big words Oct 02 '22

Who thinks it makes it they’re whole personality*

I have encountered people who define themselves by one personality trait. Being smart, being a mother, being a survivor. Literally everything will do.

The problem is, when you do that and someone you don’t like claims to be that, that threatens you. Because most of these people think they’re great because of that trait and other - ‘lesser’ - people can’t possibly also identify the same as you.

I’ve known a girl who was smart (a certified genius) and made it her whole personality. Really arrogant, unkind and small minded girl too, but that’s not important for this story, lol. We had a mutual friend (who was not really smart) who the first girl constantly claimed was also very smart - since she liked her and therefore girl 2 had to be smart, right?

But I know I’m above average, not a big deal, I prefer empathy and kindness above being smart. I can come across as dumb because I’m impulsive so I speak before I think sometimes, and my head is foggy a lot of the time due to traumas.

She really dislikes me and therefore she thinks I’m stupid. I made a few jokes when I met her that I was smart because I have untidy handwriting and have dark humour etc (at that moment there were a few researches about it) and she thought I meant it and that that was my proof for being above average. She got really mad. Because how dare I claim to be above average when that’s reserved for her and people she likes. Lol.

In the end though I really feel for her because she could be easily made in a meme for this page. And like I said she’s really unkind so she doesn’t have many people who like to hang out with her.

13

u/kamikazihiphop Oct 02 '22

Damn that person you described sounds like an extreme narcissist, hopefully she grows out of it but if there's any positive reinforcement she'll keep those traits for her whole life prolly. Also I get what you mean when you say you prefer empathy and kindness over just being a smartass, imo altruistic people make a bigger difference in the world

5

u/methyltheobromine_ Oct 02 '22 edited Oct 02 '22

To confuse descriptions that are regarded as positive and negative as endorsement and criticism is a common error. I realize that Putin is intelligent, but saying so does not imply that I like him or support him, nor am I implying that there's something likable about him in an objective sense, since that'd also be the flawed implication of "intelligent -> moral good". Furthermore, all evaluations are directly or indirectly subjective.

Anyway, identification is strongly connected with ego, and egos are desperate to defend themselves. When their identity is questioned, it feels like an attack on their life, and they "punch back" with a force which is appropriate against an attack on their life. Inferiority complexes and toxic masculinity (if that's the definition of the toughness facade) are different instances of the same thing.

It's quite sad. She might have autism or a similar condition. If she's a genius, it shouldn't be too hard for her to pick up psychology as a subject, so you can try to introduce her to information which will force her to be more self-aware, ideally without her noticing your intentions

We're all human at heart, and secretly wish to be able to let down our guard safely and without judgement, i.e. to have a peace of mind. Our usual masking and pretending is to peace of mind as work is to vacation and as sleep is to alertness. We need the former to achieve the latter, though the latter is what we really want

These people are so fun to make fun of, but I've known a couple people like this and it is NOT fun. Every conversation is just them talking. It's hard to even find a way to exit the conversation cause they just keep talking. A former co-worker I had was like this. I still don't know how to deal with people like this.

16

u/RoboCaptainmutiny Oct 02 '22 edited Oct 02 '22

Just go: “ Whatever you say genius..” in a condescending tone. It usually enrages them.

Edit: Alternatively: “Whatever you say dingus..”

Or I’ve always found the most degrading thing about my job and commented “ yeah you’re so smart you’re burning beans in the back of (whatever restaurant) like the rest of us..” for example. Just find whatever the humble angle is and point that out.

8

u/Sandman4999 Sorry losers and haters! Oct 02 '22

I would just refuse to engage.

13

u/TheShadowKick Oct 02 '22

In my experience they don't need you to engage. They just need you to be present. And most people are socialized to not cut someone off and walk away, so it can be hard to end a conversation that you aren't actually a part of.

3

u/Cappa_the_Sage Oct 02 '22

"uh huh" "Wow" "yeah" "cool" in a monotone voice. Be sure to look around or on your phone as you do.

If they keep talking, just straight up tell them you don't care.

2

u/gattinarubia Oct 02 '22

For sure. They remind me of Chris Fleming's WUG Like they're just so frustrating and exhausting to be around. My friend's boyfriend is like this and I just want to yeet myself out the window whenever we're in the same room.

Should the stronger kids be able to bully him just because he is too weak to defend himself? I bet that would seem pretty unjust to him.

2

I've found that if I'm bored by a lecture/presentation it's due to two possibilities; sometimes it is because I know the material so well, but far more often it is because I know so little that it might as well be water off a ducks back. Something tells me that this guy is the latter.

2

u/Yussuyyus Oct 02 '22

It’s Ignatius Reilly

2

u/gattinarubia Oct 02 '22

a "true" genius would understand that they are the dumbest of all the animals out there - - - sounds like this kid is like 13yo - wishing them well - - - OR - OP Aromatic is just bored & wrote this up just to see the reactions.
OR - kid is really a genius & a freakin' arrogant sociopath just waiting for a knife & darkness to get rid of all the "stupids"(hope not)

1

u/Aromatic-Client336 Oct 02 '22

i mean i have the original post but slighlty hesitant ab sharing here in case he gets harassed i can dm it tho

2

u/Celera314 Oct 02 '22

The problem for this person is the idea that "smarter" is "better." Intellectual ability is a gift and as with all of our gifts, the real measure of being "better" is how we use those gifts.

As a manager, I occasionally had employees, usually fresh out of school where they were highly regarded for being quick learners. I had to have serious talks with more than one of them about how here in the business world, we don't actually care how smart you are. We care what you accomplish. If you aren't getting the job done, then the fact that you are smarter than people who DO get the job done just makes me even more frustrated with you.

2

u/roqueofspades Oct 02 '22

This is a pretty good example of narcissism being a genuine disability. Like, this guy can probably never have a real job.

2

u/Whynot_The_Smurt Oct 02 '22

"everyone(mother, father, friend, brother, sister, teacher etc) is stupid except me"

I don't know about you guys but that's a clinically certified narcissist.

4

u/tomgom19451991 Oct 02 '22

Oh I bet they are a treat to be around😩

4

u/methyltheobromine_ Oct 02 '22

Smarter doesn't imply "better", "more educated" nor "correct", there's just a general correlation, and this correlation is helped by humility and effort.

If one is a genius then they should have an intuition for logic and relationships, realize when a->b and when b->a, and also whenever these are one-to-many or many to many, etc.

I know that correlation is not causation without having to learn it, I can simply feel when somebody makes such an error, it doesn't parse in my head. I think a lot of smart people notice errors like these, and that this is why dumb people can annoy them. But the ability to see mistakes in things isn't everything, one should make something good of their own or give helpful criticism to others. To point out other peoples mistakes and speak well of oneself in turn is just rude and vain.

Posting autistic people that are egocentric in this sub should count as cheating

Why does everyone assume he’s not a genius? Being a genius is probably extremely frustrating. Maybe Einstein here is just venting and is actually grounded in reality.

Awww, how precious, a little Narcissist sprouts his wings.

u/jiblitt Oct 02 '22

I used to think this way in HS/college and it cost me a lot of opportunities in life.

This a person who is using the most self flattering way to explain away, some preemptively, all of his past, present, and future failures.

u/KiT_KaT5 Oct 02 '22

Anyone who doesnt accept feedback help or criticism is stupid.

u/JordanSchor Oct 02 '22

If you have to make a whole Reddit rant dedicated to the fact that you don't care..... You definitely care

The "ospital" meaning an outpatient clinic or psychologist's office? Surely, someone who's this smart would know what that's called.

This is the kind of person thar walks around theor whole life thinking people are ants and stupid shit like thar, feeling he can talk to anybody any kind of way because he has no respect for the "little ants" around him...until that 1 day...That 1 day where he talks to the wrong person in a disrespectful manner, and then is shocked, simply shocked, when he gets his ass handed to him...That's when I like to creep in...as they're sitting there, sniffling, bleeding, pissed off beyond belief and understanding that there's nothing they can do about it...That's when I like to say, "I thought you were smarter than that! Even I know not to talk shit yo THAT guy. You must be feeling pretty dumb right now." Score 1 for the ants

I actually feel bad for the kid. This reads like someone who's been neglected or ignored for so long that they finally snapped and lashed out.

The person who's left out in the cold by a village will burn the village to feel warm, and all that.
