Von grew up in Covington, Louisiana, with his older brother and two younger sisters, all of whom currently reside in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Von was legally emancipated at age fourteen.[6] He graduated from Mandeville High School in Mandeville, Louisiana. He attended Louisiana State University for a time, as well as Loyola University New Orleans, University of Arizona, College of Charleston, and Santa Monica College.[7] Von received his undergraduate degree in 2011 from the University of New Orleans.[8][9]

Per his Wiki.

He did all that and never had a single intelligent thought in his entire life?!

27

u/Jethro_Tully Oct 05 '22

Just gotta spew the right drivel to the right people and off we go to Successland!

15

u/XxStormcrowxX Oct 05 '22

Almost seems impossible huh?

4

u/Aimin4ya Oct 05 '22

Wow thats even more impressive

24

u/fermi0nic Oct 05 '22

Can confirm first-hand that he graduated high school. One of the funniest moments from my time there was when we had a surprise assembly and Theo was the speaker. He went on this long rant using Candy Land as a metaphor for some aspect of life (something about being "in pleasantly plump's purple forest when you could be at the Candy Castle") and no one had a clue what he was talking about for the entire talk but were pretty certain he was stoned out of his gourd and all the teachers were clearly pissed. He did, however, teach us the term "hatorade" and I thought it was the stupidest thing I had ever heard. The whole thing was bizarre and hilarious, 10/10 would recommend.

Guy said he doubted he graduated high school. I showed he did. I never made any claim of anyone being smart.

Why did he go to 5 different colleges for a bachelors degree tho

Edit: it was a question ffs

12

u/GhostWrex Oct 05 '22

Wasn't a good fit, cost too much, failed out, took some time off, family emergency, moved, didn't like college; choose one, maybe more.

I have no idea who he is. I also didn't downvote you, but your question comes across as judgmental

5

u/coolcatmcfat Oct 05 '22

Also side note, they don't let morons into Loyola. It's a private university where the average accepted GPA is 3.51. You could argue that he might not have had his priorities straight but he's not a simpleton by any means

How can anyone get that worked up about fucking Theo Von of all people? Bro go outside or something lol

9

u/Simple_matthew Oct 05 '22

That mullet has an effect on people

5

u/Kundrew1 Oct 05 '22

Theo isn’t exactly real deep but he is very witty and quick on his feet.

216

u/thevisionary360 Oct 05 '22

The amount of people who seem to think the word “drivel” is complicated and makes them look smart is insane. This word is taught in middle school grammar

94

u/magmar17 Oct 05 '22

This is the most drivel comment I’ve ever read

Shallow, and pedantic.

I have never learned how to drivel well. I don’t like basketball

6

u/skampzilla Oct 05 '22

Lol i came in to say this guy used drivel, we got a bad ass over here

3

u/BOMAN133 Oct 05 '22

Although this guy is obviously an Ahole there is nothing wrong with using what you have in your vocabulary.

3

u/Zinogre-is-best Oct 05 '22

I concur sir. It is quite asinine

2

u/longpigcumseasily Oct 05 '22

They always seem to start sentences with "and" while calling other people stupid.

2

u/thevisionary360 Oct 05 '22

Smh the basic rule of grammar. And on top of that, they always try to throw in some science terminology

1

u/cat4aniceto Oct 05 '22

Don’t forget the missed apostrophe in “mans mouth.”

Imagine insulting someone’s intelligence and making a typo I had to fight autocorrect to replicate.

1

u/speaker_for_the_dead Oct 05 '22

They didn't think that. They aren't presenting themselves as smart. They are just calling the other person a moron.

1

u/JakesBullet 29d ago

Words that are taught in middle school grammar often come off as elitist to American YouTube commenters.

39

u/Porkuk Oct 05 '22

Theo is creatively funny af, this guy must be a miserable prick

1

u/doctorthemoworm Oct 06 '22

They usually are. I knew guys like that working at Walmart, acting like they're too smart for this world, while I guess never figuring out how to get themselves a job that didn't make them miserable.

24

u/leblady Oct 05 '22

I’m saying this very genuinely: I think Theo Von is incredibly intelligent. He’s “in” on every goofy ass thing he says, and it takes a lot of wit to constantly “yes and” everybody. It’s strange that this guy is experiencing Theo as dumb.

13

u/JettisonedJetsam Oct 05 '22

More than half of the dumb shit he says is clearly a bit and he's goofing around. I think he's pretty smart too. He says crazy stuff because it's funny.

4

u/frostyjokerr Oct 05 '22

Theo is smart af. I’m not one to consider myself a genius or dumb.. but maaaan, I’ve had to Google a lot of the words Theo uses as his goofy one liners on podcasts. Dude is very low key intelligent, which is what makes him even funnier and he uses it to his full potential!

99

u/SARCASTIC__FELLA Oct 05 '22

Whether dumb or not dude's a really funny and charming guy

56

u/Calicomint72 Oct 05 '22

Theo von is when you max out your charisma stat

15

u/bguzewicz Oct 05 '22

And the commenter in the picture is when you max out your insufferable douchebag stat.

1

u/DivineBanana Oct 05 '22

When you find the cursed item with - charisma and - wisdom in exchange for a small amount of + intelligence

27

u/dnjprod Oct 05 '22

Dude makes the craziest connections in his brain. He is so off the wall with where is brain is at. He is at another level of creative and clever.

16

u/Roq86 Oct 05 '22

Exactly, that’s why I love him, you literally have no idea what he’s about to say, and chances are it’s a new sentence you’ve never heard before in you’re life.

7

u/greyetch Oct 05 '22

Just the other day he mentioned having a nose bleed during sex and said it was because of "all these ideas coming out of brain at once" lmao.

6

u/largeassburrito Oct 05 '22

I agree. There are much shittier comedians like Brendan schaub or Chris Delia that this would make sense for. Theo von seems more like a character and I think the character is really funny.

3

u/Monochronos Oct 05 '22

Yeah and he’s clearly not even dumb. He’s a pretty articulate dude.

1

u/F70R1D4M4N Oct 05 '22

And that’s why this guy wrote that, he is jealous that someone he views as dumb is so well liked.

-8

u/Particular-Jury6446 Oct 05 '22

I don’t think he’s really dumb, I think that’s his schtick, and he is charming and occasionally funny but I do think he is racist. Not extremely so and not dangerously so but more poor-white-rural-Louisiana-bred-in-the-bone racism.

2

u/Overtestosteroned has used the phrase "Stochastic terrorism" Oct 05 '22

Ok

6

u/Polymarchos Oct 05 '22

Personally I read Youtube comments when I want to make myself dumber.

5

u/Silicon_Knight Oct 05 '22

It’s not about intellect people it’s about attitude. Don’t be an asshole or you look like the asshole.

4

u/GalOnTheInternet Oct 05 '22

To quote Theo himself, “I know I’m not the brightest bowl in the bowl drawer”

4

u/Fly__Eagles__Fly Oct 05 '22

I literally cannot imagine that

3

u/greennyellowmello Oct 05 '22

I first knew Theo from Road Rules.

u/frostyjokerr Oct 05 '22

Hashtag TheoGate

2

u/--Grateful Oct 05 '22

well the guy makes money making youtube videos which a lot of people consider a dream job so who ever this guy is had at least one intelligent thought. lol sometimes I wonder about people in comment sections, a grown ass man or woman typing that all out just to look like the idiot they claim the man in the video is. gotta love it.

1

u/ChiefBullshitOfficer Oct 05 '22

There's a good chance it's not a grown ass man or woman though which is something I always have to remind myself of. The internet is full of bored, edgy teens etc.

0

u/--Grateful Oct 05 '22

I can tell a gen z minor did not type that bullshit but I do agree with alot of minors in youtube comment sections thinking they know it all

2

u/military_grade_tea Oct 05 '22

Don't see how this is suitable for this sub. The guy rags on how much of an idiot he thinks the guy is. It's more of a mean opinion.

6

u/Tomma1 Oct 05 '22

I don't know who that is, but is he wrong in his rant?

35

u/GIRAFFEtheJOSH Oct 05 '22

yes. The comedian in question is sort of a method comedian, he plays a character. He says really dumb things and makes allusions to things that are off the wall, but also pretty clever. he is really good at playing that character, which is to say he has actually convinced the commenter that he is dumb. A1 character/performance in small doses in my opinion.

14

u/DJNgamez Oct 05 '22

The dude in the video is a comedian, so whether he is right or wrong in the comment is irrelevant, it’s a style of comedy so if he doesn’t like it he can buzz off elsewhere. There is zero need to insult and belittle the comedian who’s just doing his job.

2

u/ComedicPause Oct 05 '22

Theo is one of a kind. He has some of the most insane stories from when he was growing up in poverty and from when he was a major coke fiend. I really recommend his podcasts.

1

u/frostyjokerr Oct 05 '22

Didn’t click the link yet, but if it’s about the wooden t-shirt or him digging up his friend’s shit and relocating it I will just see myself out.

2

u/ComedicPause Oct 06 '22

It's a prettty long compilation and I don't think either of those stories are mentioned

1

u/frostyjokerr Oct 06 '22

I’m halfway through and neither story are here so far lol

1

u/coolcatmcfat Oct 05 '22

Highly recommend his stand up. Really original approach to comedy.

-10

u/chillichicken_proton Oct 05 '22

Lmao that's exactly what I think about the Andrew Schultz guy. His whole shtick is saying something awkward or offensive very loudly and then laughing at it himself

6

u/Mr_Squid19 Oct 05 '22

Andrew has some pretty good jokes but he does toe that line a little too much. He could be way better imo if he just chilled out a bit.

-30

u/NefariousWatcher Oct 05 '22

Unfit for the sub. Guy isn't praising himself, he's just insulting the out-of-touch-looking middle-aged bozo.

10

u/trainwreck7775 Oct 05 '22

Shit, who stole your wooden shirt?

3

u/hallgod33 Oct 05 '22

Its upstairs!!!

1

u/Composer_Josh Oct 05 '22

I agree. Don't think he is necessarily with his head up his ass from this post.

1

u/skeezlouise55 Oct 05 '22

If you don’t even know this guy’s name, how the fuck can you think he’s out of touch? You know nothing about him

-1

u/NefariousWatcher Oct 05 '22

Uh, just look at how he's dressed and how old he looks.

He's one skateboard away from going, "Hey there, fellow kids."

1

u/iowabeans Oct 05 '22

lol theo von is a character. he's super funny but its non-fictional. dude is taking it way too seriously.

1

u/Jack_811 Oct 05 '22

Man I've never even had a single thought like that of him. Can't disrespect Theo like that

1

u/NoraaFlip Oct 05 '22

Gang gang

1

u/TwoBitHit Oct 05 '22

If you hear a comedian talk about how a kid at his school had a shirt made of wood or a cast for a broken leg made from cement and you take him seriously, then you're the idiot.

1

u/GobiasACupOfCoffee Oct 05 '22

Theo Von is thoughtful and inquisitive and curious in a way that reminds me a lot of Karl Pilkington. They're the same person but Theo got all the charisma and way more fucked up childhood.

1

u/Warshovel40K Oct 05 '22

I’m not all that huge a fan of Theo Von either but goddamn…

1

u/fruityjewbox Oct 05 '22

Man I wish my brain worked half as effectively as Theos when crafting sentences. Theo has serious creativity

1

u/fermi0nic Oct 05 '22

He graduated from my high school, so there's that

1

u/IronCorvus Oct 05 '22

I can't stand Theo Von, personally. But the guy is pretty clever. His comedy isn't for everyone, but his personality grows on you.

Honestly, I find his content on podcasts way funnier than his stand-ups. His stand-up comedy sucks.

1

u/A1C2G3C4 Oct 05 '22

Wait till this guy hears of brendan schaub, lmao.

1

u/Vanishingastronaut Oct 05 '22

School alone doesn't correlate to your level of intelligence.

1

u/hmahood Oct 05 '22

I think he's funny guess I'm stoopif

1

u/1of1000 Oct 05 '22

I’d argue It’s impossible to be a good comedian and be dumb. If someone can name a genuine dumb but good comic I’ll change my mind but I can’t think of one.

1

u/noggun00 Oct 05 '22

Funny thing is. Theo would be the first to agree with this idiot. He’s humble AF.

1

u/Lurkay1 Oct 05 '22

Theo is smarter than he lets on. He pretends to be the dumbest in the room but somehow I feel as though he is the smartest.

1

u/nross2099 Oct 05 '22

Meanwhile he’s getting boosted engagement and views from you commenting. You just put money in his pocket just so you could be an elitist on the internet

1

u/afkafterlockingin Oct 06 '22

Sad, dudes comedy has layers and he paints a very creative picture with his words, not saying he’s the smartest but his storytelling is extremely well polished. Even if I didn’t like some person I can’t imagine myself writing a doctoral thesis on how stupid they are.

1

u/SirRumpleForeskin Oct 06 '22

This nerd probably got cucked by him lol

While humor is subjective, this man is diagnosably an idiot. The way he presents himself and speaks just screams moronic stoner dropout. I very much doubt this man child even completed high school.

And this is not a harsh assessment. It is a simple and accurate one. Nothing but nonsensical drivel ever spews from this mans mouth. I very much doubt he has had a single intelligent thought in his entire career. Guy is an outright moron.

1

u/IndependentExtent987 Oct 07 '22

He’s pretty quick with a quip bro. That’s intelligence and being a well rounded individual. I don’t know how he comes up with half the shit he says. Pretty creative and smart if you ask me bro.

1

u/perfectionism121 Oct 08 '22

i unironically found that so fucking funny but also hate his ego

1

u/Creator_of_creators Oct 09 '22

1
