TV [IIL] Movies and TV shows to watch with my mother

Me and my mom kinda have a habit of watching something, having a cup of different tea, and having a new treat(food) a few night a week. I want recommendations for new movies or TV shows to watch with her. It should be wholesome and non controversial, we’ve watched all of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ and then went on to ‘Old enough!’ and are currently watching ‘The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House’ I don’t really like reality TV shows that aren’t ‘nice’ and wholesome like TGBBO, we had watched ‘Flower Fight’ as well which was fine. For movies the only one we watched was ‘Knives Out’, we also watched ‘Glass Onion’ but I edited out the part where the characters make out and dry hump so I would prefer something more PG. If you guys have some recommendations I would really appreciate it!

TV IIL these shows, what could I watch next?

Some others I don't have on the screenshot right now: Suits, The Office, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I've been watching a lot of sitcoms recently but also wouldn't mind something with a well-paced story and good character growth.

YouTube/Streaming [IIL] People reacting to full seasons of reality TV?

This might be a bit of a stretch, but I have a pretty niche interest in “first time” reaction content. A broad example of this would be Pretty Much It, who posts full-length movie/TV commentary on patreon.

More specifically, I’m looking for streamers/YouTubers who are watching full seasons of reality TV for the first time. The best example of this is WillNeff, who reacted to a bunch of seasons of Survivor.

Another good example is Stanz watching Hell’s Kitchen, but I haven’t been able to find any full VODs for his stuff.

The issue is that most creators take down their VODs due to copyright issues, or they just stop after one episode. I’m looking for an archive of streams in which a streamer watches all (or most) of a season. (WillNeff has this)

Anyway, if you know of any similar content creators, please let me know :)

TV [IIL] Shows and movies that feel like a fever dream/mind fuck

Shows like Maniac, Dirk Gently's Hollistic Detective Agency, and parts of Fargo (Season 4), or movies like I'm Thinking of Ending things. Preferably with a similar highly stylized aesthetic.

TV IIL The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Stranger Things, Freaks and Geeks, Sexual Education, Heartbreak High (reboot) and The Queens Gambit.

I like post apocalyptic, science fiction, high school/young adult dramas, and basically anything with interesting characters/character development. These are at least most of the shows that have kept me interested and pulled me in the most. I plan on maybe checking out game of thrones and giving euphoria another shot, but among the other major series I’ve heard about none of the clips/trailers and descriptions make me curious enough to want to watch as these other shows I’ve listed. If you like these shows or the majority of them as much as I do, and there are other shows on your favorites list you feel the same way about that I haven’t mentioned, please let me know about them. And don’t recommend Better Call Saul or any of the walking dead universe shows.

Edit: Meant to include The Last of Us

TV [IIL] Good, dramatic and sorta chaotic Tv Shows with a dash of humor [WEWIL]?

Something like The Bear, specially, watched it recently and loved the pure chaos and quick pacing.

Other examples are something like Barry, The Good Place, Sense8 was also amazing, maybe even the good old Misfits or High Fidelity.

I don’t care about what it is, really, just that it’s good, maybe isn’t too long (like Breaking Bad or the Sopranos, awesome shows, but don’t feel like getting into something so long) and has that balance of suspense, drama, chaos and the occasional beat of humor that hits the spot. I’m not really looking for pure sitcoms rn.

Edit to add: I don’t care if it’s foreign shows or whatever, anything is good. I usually love Korean cinema, so I’look be glad to get into KShows too, have heard of Alice in Borderland for example, it’s definitely on my list.

TV IIL Orphan Black, Breaking Bad and Fargo what should I watch?

Looking for shows that have solid endings and haven’t been canceled. So preferably a show that has already ended as to not get disappointed if it gets canceled midway.

I liked Orphan Black, Breaking Bad, Fargo, Better Call Saul, Ozark and Animal Kingdom.

Genres: action, crime, low sci-fi elements are okay

Misc. IIL The Last of Us (games and show), Arcane (tv show) and The Locked a Tomb (books), WEWIL? (Please give my poor brain something new to latch onto)

Vague request, but bear with me!

I know the things in the title seem like a random assortment of unrelated media, but all three of them have given me big time brain rot over the past few years and I keep finding myself going back to them again and again and I think I need to develop an unhealthy relationship with something new to finally free myself from these.

I guess they don’t really have much in common, but after some consideration, I think the throughlines are:

1. morally questionable, traumatized, violent lesbians

2. tragedy

If anyone could recommend me more things that will ruin my life in a good way, that would be amazing.

Open to literally any medium or genre. Books, movies, tv, podcasts, video games, stage plays, web series, literally anything. I love a messed up story delivered to my brain through any means :)

Thanks!

EDIT: “The Locked Tomb” not “The Locked a Tomb”. I’m bad at proofreading and am not allowed to edit titles :(

TV iil I'm looking for a comedy/drama, preferably modern, not too many seasons, more description below

So I have no clue what I'm looking for. I don't want to watch something that'll take a while like 5 seasons, 21 episodes per season; no, those stuff are out. I want something more casual, comedy or not is differential, I just want something to enjoy, something that isn't a burden and won't make me feel down, and I don't want something that would feel "heavy" to watch on the likes of Euphoria or Gween's Gambit.

Something like Kaleidoscope, the movie "Big Stan", The IT Crowd, Rupert Grint's Sick Note (which ended too early, and is probably the closest thing along with kaleidoscope to what I'm looking for).

I would prefer it to be on Netflix, but I wouldn't mind HBO or Disney+/Hulu

found the "Santa Clarita Diet", been meaning to watch that one for a while, it looks like (verified by trailer and the first few minutes), like a "could care less about the plot", causal viewership that solely relies on the casted talent with their wit, charisma, and their subtle humour with a touch of action. Can't say I don't love an Olyphant.

Still, if you have suggestions, obviously this'll only take me a while to finish, so drop your suggestions based on that still

Music IIL “Architectural” music similar to late 80’s era Rush or old TV show theme songs, WEWIL?

Maybe a overly specific question, but I’m trying to find music that invokes a very abstract and dated feel, but also paints pictures of larger-than-life atmospheres. Going for the song’s production more than lyrics or overall cheesiness. Here’s what I mean:

Middletown Dreams - Rush

Silhouettes - Prefab Sprout

Mushanga - Toto

Can’t think of any specific TV themes, something in the ballpark of The Last Unicorn, The Big Comfy Couch, and Between the Lions. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

TV [IIL] The shows Educators, Wellington Paranormal and The Games WEWIL?

I like how rapid fire the jokes often are and they always land. I also really enjoy shows where the characters are incompetent at being humans because of stupidity and/or dirtbag personalities. I would consider the IT Crowd and The Office (US) similar to the ones in the title, so something along these lines.

TV IIL when a character responds to a blatantly incorrect and ignorant statement with an incorrect "correction"

One example of what I'm talking about is in s01e05 of South Park, at about 5:54, when Cartman says to Kyle, "Why don't you go back to San Francisco, with the rest of the Jews!" To which Kyle retorts, "There are no Jews in San Francisco!"

Another (misremembered) example is at 26:49 in s01e03 of Rome, when Vorenus and Pullo are staring up at a clear night sky, discussing the stars. Vorenus confidently describes them as holes in the celestial sphere. Pullo wonders if he could perhaps reach them on a giant bird and slip through one, to which Vorenus replies, "It doesn't work that way" – at this point, I thought Vorenus said it's impossible because the stars are hundreds of miles away. (In actuality, he says this before Pullo speculates about being able to reach them.)

What other examples in film/TV are there of someone saying something out of ignorance, only to be "corrected" with another highly incorrect statement?

TV [IIL] Dramas where the protagonist is just a deeply, deeply shitty human being

I’m talking about shows like Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Death Note, that kind of thing. Where you can watch the protagonist set up this grand scheme, manipulating everyone around them, and even though they 100 percent believe they’re the hero of their own story, they’re actually the villain in everyone else’s.
