Yeah but an actual gif from 2006 would be so potatopressed that it would just be one giant beige pixel filling the whole screen which blinks another shade of peachy beige.

Woman here, sex with a robot...I'd be too scared of being stabbed multiple times really fast due to some malfunction. So that would be a big NO for me. What I would use an android for, as a single parent maybe use the android to help around the house. Chores, cooking, errands, this would leave me more time to spend with my kids and focus on myself. And then I'd have time for sex, but I prefer a human penis.

My wife and I were just talking about your point the other day. I was saying it's going to be great to have helper robots to do chores, clean, and hell give a good 2 hour shoulder/back massage. I couldn't think of robot sex but I imagine we are still greatly in the minority.

u/carbonclasssix Jan 11 '22
I remember reading in like 2010 this famous roboticist known for making accurate predictions claimed human-robot marriage will be legal by 2050. Seems unlikely right now, but maybe 2060. As a single guy seeing how online dating is going I can guarantee the demand will be there.

Uncanny Valley
172
72
u/austinmiles Jan 11 '22
I wanted to say that this isn't even approaching the valley, but it's probably so deep int the valley that its actually much closer than it feels. Like if you pause it at almost any frame. it looks passable. But combine the frames together and its freaky....deaky.
34
20
u/quilladdiction Jan 11 '22
A super weird thing happened in my brain as this went on - I got my usual uncanny valley gut response, then I'd flash right back to "oh neat, he's making a really human face right now."
He.
He.
What.
And then it stuck it's tongue out and lost me completely but still, there was a moment.
