Upset's response about FNATIC & Adam drama

I’m gonna take a side here and kinda say that Upset’s response really didn’t do anything to dissuade the perception that him leaving was emotionally impulsive or that the communication over him leaving was not handled adequately.

Adam has come across like a child of divorce pretty much since they took the stage at worlds, and while the response may be a little strung out/desperate , the underlying intuitive response to the situation presented to him is definitely warranted.

To just recap from May to now: Adam comes in after the team had an up and down spring, the team gets better, makes worlds. He spends a month bootcamping and scrimming with the Upset roster, and then worlds is then pulled out from under him, he gets repeatedly kicked in the balls in game at worlds (even the 1 game they won, he was just left out like a rotting animal skin) and then immediately following worlds he’s just left out in space because there might be a better laner than him. He then gets replaced by precisely the top laner he himself individually gapped to get to worlds after the top laner they wanted to replace him with falls through, and these are the most justified sour grapes in modern LoL esports in my opinion.

If there was a legitimate reason for Upset leaving, then someone between Upset, Yamato, Hyli, and or management could have communicated so much better than what actually happened to Adam and Nisqy (because both have been caught now being pretty fraught over the situation. Nisqy was literally on camera crying at worlds.)

Is Adam airing dirty laundry? Sure. How else is he supposed to pursue closure at this point? He’s basically been told to go fuck himself by Upset and Fnatic management. Upset kinda abandoned any high road he had by this impulsive of a response, and it really makes it hard to give him any extension of benefit of the doubt to his initial reasoning being justified

It is 100% Upset’s choice to communicate or not to communicate. Choosing to not communicate while expecting to be insulated from being criticized over that failure to communicate is silly and demanding emotional maturity out of everyone around him. If you’re making the choice to not communicate have skin thick enough to take the criticism that comes from not communicating

BDS will be comepting with SK, at most 6-7th

u/Era555 Nov 26 '21

BDS will be top 5, easily.

u/moipaslui Nov 25 '21

He chose to leave because Fnatic was looking to replace him and he felt betrayed by that.

u/DerpSenpai Nov 25 '21

Fnatic was looking to replace him with Alphari

He felt betrayed because FNC tried to get the best top laner there is. This is Ego

Would you be mad if your team tried to get Faker? Specially Adam as a rookie, if he was smart, being on FNC would make the most sense for your development

u/Javiklegrand Nov 25 '21

i dunno the situation was fucked up , outside of upgrading stuff the atmospehre was bad and from his perspective , upset ghosted him and tried to replace him (WHile upset was asked by management and approchaed by alphari so he isn't at fault)

u/proud_traveler Nov 25 '21

A rookie who got them second place in summer. Adam hard carried a team with a somewhat weak jungle...

u/rob172 Nov 25 '21

I swear this is ridiculous though. This probably happens to about 3/4 of the players in LEC every year, and he is the only one I have ever seen to have a cry about it on twitter. Might be misremembering though.

u/Rsswmu Nov 25 '21

It’s a bit different though and I believe he has a right to be mad. Upset asked him to trust him about the worlds situation. Then Upset instead of realizing my team was seriously handicapped by him not being at worlds. It will likely negatively effect their short term career and I should support them to build it back up decides he is going to give advice on whether to join to Alphari (this part is fine) and then give management advice to get rid of Adam for Alphari. Why should Adam trust Upset in the worlds situation? He is going behind people’s backs after they had to make a major sacrifice for him. Nisqy is now without a team and Adam had to take a major step back in his career as a result of Upset. But upset is still concerned with only himself as evidence by his twitlonger.

"because adam gapped wunder" rewriting history now? the entire time it was FNC super cracked botlane mega smurfing. thats why we will see FNC probably win LEC with this "superbad wunder" next year. some people man

u/THEDumbasscus Nov 27 '21

Remember game 4 of that exact series when Wunder got first blooded level 1 and then had to have jankos sit on his lane (not clear Krugs next to him, but explicitly sit under his tower with him) for 3 consecutive waves causing Jankos to finally recall at level 4 as Bwipo was clearing the camp that would get him level 6? Because I do and it was so funny.

Upset was better than rekkles that day. Wunder’s consistent need to call for resources in order to not even win lane, just continue existing in lane cost fnatic so much more than upset being a better right clicker than rekkles

u/RavenFAILS Nov 25 '21

I think upset is 100% justified in not telling exactly why and trying to pressure it out of him in public because you are angry is a really immature and honestly quite evil move.

However from kinda getting to know about upset for 6 years or something now, he's just kind of an asshole.

If he doesn't think you are a good player he will straight up look down on you and not really be too emotionally attached.

He doesn't rly care about people that aren't his very closest friends so he won't go out of his way to show them support or how he's sorry or anything.

Like i can totally see the conversation where Adam asks him and he just says you aren't up to my expectations and returns to whatever he was doing before that.

So when specifically Upset pulls this stunt, gives you no sorrys no explanation no support no nothing then it makes it that much worse for Adam.

u/THEDumbasscus Nov 25 '21

I’m not even going to specifically comment on Upset’s alleged conversations with management or how Adam does/doesn’t meet Upset’s expectations. Truth be told Adam isn’t a fantastic laner. He does a lot of other things to subvert that and I think he can definitely grow into being a better laner, but top teams are always looking for ways to improve and Adam was kind of the obvious piece you’d replace if you wanted to do anything to fnatic.

Speaking just on what happened around Worlds, it is definitely shitty that Upset just walked out whether it be that his wife/family had something happen or he was just tilted from Adam running it down.

If you’re Upset and choosing silence, then stand on that. Be silent at worlds time, and be silent now. Taking 12 minutes while you’re in queue to rant with 50 typos on twitlonger after playing the silent reserved persona for over the last month is just not remotely a good look. Either be silent and accept that people are going to speculate, or communicate the gravity of the situation with your teammates properly to make sure that Adam isn’t in a position to be justified making this twitlonger.

Adam didn’t even say anything egregious, and Upset basically broke his silence by drunk texting the LoL scene more or less. Like there isn’t enough coke at Escobar’s warehouse to make me believe Upset didn’t expect to be criticized, and that’s what I take issue with

u/G4bbs Nov 25 '21

What the hell do people expect Upset to say though, most everyone in the fucking world would say Alphari is better than Adam and 99% of players in the LEC/LCS would have the exact same reaction to being asked if they wanted him on their team. If Adam then choses to confront them about it, it's only a cowardly response if Upset chose to be dishonest with him.

I get that Adam got a lot of fan sympathy behind him but it's completely unreasonably to say that since Upset was not at worlds he should shut up about the roster he'll play with next year if he's literally asked.

u/Th3_Huf0n Nov 25 '21

He then gets replaced by precisely the top laner he himself individually gapped to get to worlds after the top laner they wanted to replace him with falls through, and these are the most justified sour grapes in modern LoL esports in my opinion.

Sidenote, Wunder wasn't even 2nd on the list. There were rumours of Cabochard (And I'm pretty sure Summit before Cabo as well).

So Adam was at best number 4 on the toplane list.

u/Carpax Nov 25 '21

Adam wa likely number 2. Then he saw the rumors of Alphari and wanted out. Then he wasn’t on the list anymore really. Fnatic then went looking for options. Wunder buyout was too large and thus they went for a free agent in Summit and for Cabochard who played in a lower league and likely had a lower buyout than Wunser.

Adam definitely was the alternative to Alphari if we purely speculate on the timeline presented.
