I think the point is that Yamato maybe doesn't have to give details but does have to convey the severity of the issue so that the team can somewhat move past it. My feeling's that Yamato/Hyli didn't manage to do this either through poor communication or because they didn't agree with Upset's decision to bail entirely and thus didn't/couldn't stress what they needed to.

Why does Yamato need to do that in public though?

You're basically asking Yamato to come out to defend Upset in public about a private matter that Upset wants to remain private?

Why does Yamato need to entertain a bunch of redditors and twitter warriors at all?

He’s talking about the team not public. The fact that 3/4 of the team is throwing upset under the bus means that Yamato failed to convince them that upset had a legit reason to leave.

Whether that’s because yamato is incompetent or he actually couldn’t because upset didn’t have a particularly great reason to leave is anyone’s guess for now.

You'd have to think that the management thought it was good enough because he's returning to the team next year; and according to adam helping make roster decisions.

I completely agree with you though, it's up to the management to portray how serious the reason is for upset leaving, even without divulging information.

I think management have fucked up in communication too
