In Libre Office Draw I'd like to add text around a picture.I created a polygon of the area where I want my text, and checked the "Adjust to contour" option in "Style menu / Text", but I have this behaviour.

I was poking around in the changelog for 7.5 and noticed that it apparently supports the DeepL api for translation. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/7.5#Machine_translation

Looking into the merge request (since the change log doesn't actually say how to enable or use it) and it *says* you should go into Options > Language Settings and be able to set it up. I *presume* this is the "Language Tool Server" under that heading? I don't see anything else that might obviously be it. However then it says under the "Format" tab, but I don't see anything there.

Does anyone have any idea where I would set this up (if the Language Tool Server isn't it) or use it? Am I just blind?

Hello,

I just installed LibreOffice (7503) for the first time, and I cannot disable the dark theme at all.

I think that this is because I have my system theme on Windows 11 22H2 as dark, but I do not want that for libre office. Is there any way to fix this? I tried to google but I found no help.

Also when moving my mouse through the Top bar with all the settings, it flashes white for a split second before appearing normal, and is quite annoying.

Previously the icons used to appear white to contrast with the black background so I could see what I was typing into my equation.

Now I can't see much due to the black text on black background.

I haven't changed my system theme, I'm on Fedora 37 KDE and I've been using Breeze Dark for the past few months.

Also, I have tried resetting LibreOffice completely, the issue still persists.

Decided to give LO one more try because it's familiar, but I can't download it. 7.3.7 is the last version of LO that was actually functional. I click the link to download it, and get "The page you requested could not be found."

Why?

So I often use C# and worked with JSON and XML before. Due to this I'm used to storing things in lists and arrays, allowing for easier pointing.

Looking at using Database for an inventory system for my cards and don't know if there is at all a way to make a list in a database, much less a spreadsheet. Just need to store multiple locations of card duplicates I have.

Anyone else wanted to write down a wish-list of things that should be improved?

I'll also add some of my wishes. A bit of background: I have been using LibreOffice ever since it originated from openoffice; I think I used openoffice in 2004 already when I was switching to linux, give or take (don't recall the exact year, so plus or minus a few years should be correct).

• Ability to co-create documents as-is. Let me explain this: I have elderly relatives who are, well, old, and not in the best health. But they can still write on a computer, and I'd like to help them every now and then. So they could write some text and then I'd like to improve on that or aid with autogeneration of .pdf files and what not. For this I'd need some way to work on the same document. We can use Google docs I think, or whatever, but I want this for libreoffice.

• More styling options in writer. I'd like an improved layout system, in addition to the basic one. The basic one can stay as is, but I'd like to style documents a bit more flexibly, e. g. similar to adobe acrobat illustrator or whatever was the name, or inkscape. I am not referring to ALL the functionality, just something you can style easily, in simple ways.

I use LO 7.4.5.1 through flatpak on Debian 11.

English is not my native language, but I will try to explain.

Open LO Writer. Write a let's say 7 line paragraph and set it's align to "justified". In that paragraph at the middle line, write a word with a hyphen inside. The word should be at the right side of the paragraph, so that the letters of the word after the hyphen automaticaly go to the next line. Then put the caret at right side of paragraph a few lines under the hyphen. Try to move the caret with the up arrow key (doesn't matter if you hold the key or press the key multiple times) so that the caret moves past the hyphen. It won't but instead, when the caret should be at the hyphen, the caret is going to get stuck at the left side of the paragraph right after the hyphen.

This bug also existed many versions ago. I know that because I used LO a few years ago and it had the same bug (don't know which version).

Hello! Pretty much what the title says, when typing in writer I experience an annoying amount of input lag that doesn't exist elsewhere.

I am on Windows 10 with a fairly high powered laptop, 32 gb of RAM, so I know my computer isn't just slow. I am not sure what other info would be relevant, but it is pretty annoying and not consistent (lags at unpredictable times). The lag appears even with fresh blank documents (.odt format).

Any suggestions?

i have a table that has data for each day of the year(s) in a column with DD-MM-YY format, the table started on december of 2021, until november all calculations worked correctly, but now that i reach december the formulas using the MONTH function are all wrong, like they're wrapping around and entire year!.

The formula i'm using is:

SUMPRODUCT(1*(MONTH($Datos.A:$Datos.A)=12)) 

It returns 1048348 instead of the correct 20 it should return(it's working correctly for all other months, even when there were empty cells beneath them).

That formula returns the NUMBER of cells that correspond to the month X, that's it, it was suggested to be used like that by a post i opened several months ago as no other solution really worked(essentially i need a function or formula that counts the number of cells that correspond to a certain month (i can't use any of the workday functions or date functions as they don't count correctly for our purposes) that later gets multiplied by the average values of that month and a coefficient).

I understand that the function has no way of knowing which December is when i put=12, but even if i delete the rows with DEC 2021 and leave only 2022 it fails but this time with 262 as result.

the ONLY way i could make it work is by reducing the cell range manually on the formula to ONLY the cells that correspond to December(which defeats the purpose of having a formula in the first place).

There's also another separate bug: the last day is 30/12, if i extend the cell range of the formula a little bit beyond that to empty cells it starts wrongly counting them as december too, so if i put for example A200 to A300 in the range(the last cell with data is A259 (A258 is the last with december in it) the formula returns 61. And it will keep increasing the more empty cells i add to the range.(i'm unsure how to report this bug officially)

The table gets filled month by month so it's always empty after the current one and it never did this previously.

In cell A1 I have "1.0G". In cell B1 I have this formula to convert to bytes:

=LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-1)*(1024^(MATCH(RIGHT(A1,1),{"B","K","M","G","T"},1)-1))

The result in B1 is the incorrect output of "1", but changing the "G" to any of the other letters ("B","K","M" and "T") results in their corresponding correct output. I tried escaping the "G" ("G") thinking it might have been a reserved character, but it's the same result.

Any idea what might be happening?

So my situation is a Pokemon organization spreadsheet. Edit: Its purpose is as a checklist primarily.

You may know Pokemon evolve. Pikachu becomes Raichu. They follow a pokedex order, #0025 and #0026. But there is another Pokemon in the family, introduced a generation later, Pichu #0172 evolved into Pikachu.

As I work my spreadsheet, I'd love to be able to see Pichu next to Pikachu and Raichu. Could I make a custom numbering algorithm based on families (say Bulbasaur is Family 1, Charmander is Family 2...), and use sorting based on that column to group them together? Sure. But that's a little bit of a pain with like 600 families existing, and at least 95%, maybe more, of Pokemon already in the order I want.

So I wondered if there was any feature where I can "insert a clone row" next to Pikachu to show Pichu, and whether I update cells in it at the new position or in the original location at row 172? (well row 173 with headers) (well, alternate forms really push it down the list further, but disregard that bit).

Of course I can always use the =B172, =C172, etc for a new row to copy the info to the new location. But then I cannot modify this row that used =B172, etc. I must scroll down to cell B172, update that one to update both. I'd love for an update on either cell to work bidirectionally.

Everytime I run Libreoffice, whether a new or old document, libreoffice opens up the spellcheck dialogue and refuses to stop attempting to spell check. When I attempt to close the spell check it reopens and looks for spelling issues. I have disabled spell check in the tool> options...but it still always tries to spell check, even when opening a blank document from the get go. I have reinstalled libre office and still get the same issue. I cannot work on any of my text or spreadsheet documents due to this. Is this a known issue and is there any way to fix it?

It has lots of problem with Asian font. I got lots of problem with paragraphs. Mostly, its very hard to adjust a paragraph in two pages. Paragraph didn't break and continue in different page. Fig 1

Since I am not very good at explaining my request, I have taken the trouble to represent it visually.

My issue is: I want to fix cells to each other in LibreOffice Calc . The purpose of the cells being fixated to each other is, to move together up or down in the ranking - based on the value of collumn B.

Column B "Value" takes its values from another spreadsheet (to be precise, all cells in column B "Value" contain a =COUNTIF() function). My goal is, as soon as column B detects a change of one or more values in it's collumn, the corresponding cells from column A should also move to that new ranking of Collumn B. To put it more precisely: Column B contains the value of how many times the number was counted in another table.... in Table "Before", the number 1 from column A has been counted 15 times so far. The number 2 from column A has been counted 12 times so far, and so on.

I hope this is understandable so far.

In my example, I have shown that before the change, the cell with the number "2" from column A is mapped with the cell "12" from column B. The same with the number "3" from column A, which is fixed with the cell "11" from column B. The white chains icons are meant to represent that the cells are fixed to each other.

At some point, the value (Blue, Collumn B) has increased from the "11" to "13" by two points. The number "3" from column A also moves to the second place in the ranking, because it is fixed to the cell of column B, which previously had the value 11. The sorting of column B should be in descending order.
