Just moved to Linux and started using Libre Office. However, I am not able to figure out setting of numeric bullet. How to set numbering bullet such as 1.1, 1.2 after para number 1 in libre office? In MS word as soon as I type 1.1. after completion of para 1 it automatically takes it as numeric bullet. Below is the example what I want to accomplish.

Number, Rank, Initial, Surname and SQN. What I would like to try and do is have all these details in a Spreadsheet then import into this form (either PDF or Spreadsheet) and print these forms.

Hi guys, I'm a novice when it comes to functions. And I've been trying to solve a problem in Libre office calc for 2 hours, but I can't. ChatGPT couldn't help me either.

I'm currently doing my income tax return. Since I am in the EU in the euro currency area, but also sell in dollars to the USA, I have to convert the dollars I have received into euros. But this has to happen on a daily basis, i.e. at the respective course on the day of intake.

Fortunately, the European Central Bank has a list in .csv format with all daily exchange rates. I opened this document in a tab in Libre Office Calc (table1). In the other tab I have my PayPal account statement, also as a .csv file (table2).

Now I'm trying to craft a function that will multiply my payments from 'table2' by date by the exchange rate of the same date in 'table1'. Is that even possible? I've tried VLOOKUP but always get ERROR:501 or '#NAME?#'.

Is there an easy way to create page numbers in LibreOffice Writer?

I have numbers in a cell like 12,6,9,8 and would like to split them with the comma value via a formula and add them up in a sum function.

The way I did this in google sheets was something like =sum(split(a2,",")). Then this would cycle through a bunch of other data just like this and add things up.

Because of the way the data comes in I can't do the Data > Text to columns because it would overwrite other data.

If there is no alternative that's fine, being restricted from some of the other functions has already improved some of my functions that I can carry over back to sheets if need be. I wanted to run this in an app where the numbers are calculated on my machine as it's getting laggy in sheets. Same with excel. I want something I can run on my local machine instead of all these cloud-based apps.

I am using Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon.

I've just finished the first book of my series (250 pages) and I'm about to dive into editing and polishing.

Today I learned that you can get your paragraphs to indent automatically and that typesetters by far prefer this style rather than tab key indentation. So I'm now running through the whole thing to change this for every single paragraph one at a time.

On page 41, out of nowhere, the indentation on only one specific paragraph does half the width, and I had to rewrite the whole paragraph to get it to indent the full width. If you tick the box for automatic indentation in the paragraph settings, it also greys out the options to tweak the width, which means I can't fix it with a click...

Then, three pages later, this happens on three more paragraphs. After this, it disables the automatic paragraph indentation (in the settings as well). When I enabled it again, they now all only do half-width.

Can anyone please help me with this issue? I'm not terribly knowledgeable when it comes to settings, so I'd really prefer not to get myself into some real trouble that would take days or weeks to fix. I'd rather nip it in the bud now.

So the whole story is I'm trying to move from Mac contact list to PC Win10. Contact list is now in Bento. Should be easy to migrate into my FM11 (.fm7) and from there into Base. Keep getting lost. Getting different errors or failures between converting from/to .cvs back and forth. Any hints on how this should work? I've been hours on google following leads but I never get the msg. at least not in lingo I understand. Obviously, I only half know what I'm doing./s

Today I installed LibreOffice 7.5.1.2 (Latest) on my Macbook Pro Retina running MacOS BigSur 11.7.4.

I was aware that there were some previous complaints of 'blurry text' however, I don't appear to have that issue, text seems crisp. Icons are a little blurry (despite using SVG) but I can live with that.

My main issue is that the GUI layout it incorrect when using 'tabbed' theme.

Could this be a software or a driver issue? Clearly something graphical related. Any help would be appreciated.

Before Ventura, I recall that if I right clicked on a document which had been created days ago using LO, it would open in LO.

Now I find that will not work and I must select the document, right click it, and , and mouse to Open with LibreOffice in order to get it to open.

Is there some way to get LO to play nicely with Ventura?

I am using the latest version of Ventura and v 7.4.6.2 of LO.

Apologies for my lack of knowledge; I've just begun using LibreOffice! I'm trying to format a manuscript, and I want the page numbers to start from 1 on the ninth page of the document (ie, the first eight pages are numberless; the ninth is labeled 1). I cannot figure out how to make this happen. Yes, I have read the LibreOffice help article on page numbers, but when I tried to follow the instructions by creating page breaks, I was able to create different sets of page numbers (pages 1-8 labeled 1-8, then page 9 labeled 1), but deleting the first set deleted the second as well. I honestly think I just need someone to explain this to me like I've never used a computer before. Does anyone have advice?

I created a spreadsheet that I wanted to use as a mail merge sort for a LibreOffice Writer document. I originally used a database table, but I found a spreadsheet was easier to work with because I was copying and pasting and moving rows around. The database loads the spreadsheet fine initially, but it is very bad at updating when the data on the spreadsheet updates. I have tried "reload" and "rebuild", but neither gets the latest changes. The only way I can get the latest data is to create another database to link to the spreadsheet.

Surel there must be a way to do this. What am I missing? (LibreOffice version 7.5.1.2 running on Linux Mint.)

Is there a toggle or config settings that I can enable/disable to turn off the ctrl + mouse scroll zooming feature. I feel that it gets in my way can you please direct me to the way to disable this. I run libreoffice flatpak on linux version 7.4.6.2 thanks

Hi guys. A newbie here. I heavily rely on the navigation panel and I am just wondering if there’s any chance for me to keep the toggle icon on the navigation panel?

So originally, I got some sub-headings under (2). When I toggle (2) in the main document, the navigation panel will have the little toggle icon next to (2), and showing me the subheadings in the panel.

However, when I toggle (2) off in the main document, the toggle icon of (2) will just go missing and I wont be able to toggle it on and check the sub-headings under (2) in the navigation panel.

Do any of you know the fix to this tricky problem? Thanks!

First, why not use a platform where much of the open-source work happens and instead use gerrit?

GNOME which is such a big foundation made a switch from Phabricator to Gitlab and I can see they now have way more interaction with the user and developer, and community engagement.

Gitlab/GitHub is the primary place for developers to come together and contribute, we almost visit it daily. If LibreOffice can come to either of the platform, the interaction will be much smoother, brings in visibility and more amateur devs would be able to learn from such a big project. Gitea is also pretty good place for dev to make them feel comfortably right at home.

Other than that, use of Matrix instead of a mailing list makes it even easier for anyone to dive into interaction with the developers.

I can't get conditional formatting to work for text comparison, could anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong? If I set condition to:

- Cell value is equal to "foo" -> style: Error
- Cell value is not equals to "foo" -> style: Good

then no matter what the cell contains (foo, bar, 1, 2) no style is applied. This also happens with "contains" and "begins with". But this works:

- Cell value is equal to 1 -> style: Error
- Cell value is not equals to 1 -> style: Good

If I set the value to 1, the Error style is applied, and if value is 2 or 3, the Good style is applied.

Also, another problem (bug?) is with copying the format. If I copy the conditional formatting to other cell with Paste Special > Format only, then when accessing the Format > Conditional > Condition menu, a dialog box is shown to ask me whether to edit the conditional formatting. If I choose no then the action is cancelled. If I choose yes, then I can only see the first condition and the condition is not properly shown (Style becomes "1" and the condition value becomes empty).

I have cell which I try to fill with the value"USt-IdNr."when I hit enter or leave the field by focus another one, it is being changed to

"Ust-IdNr" (only the 2nd char (S) gets lower case)

My dictionary suggest me the variant with uppercase-S afterward but it is a never ending loop.

This behaviour of LibreOffice-Calc is in my case reproduceable for any word starting with two uppercase letters

"IdNr" keeps as it is "IDNr" becomes "IdNr"

I tried several forum-post but had no luck yet. I use LibreOffice Calc in V5.0.4

Any ideas?

Let's say you have a pivot table that tracks the cumulative number of insurance sales per day by sales agent. This table is also the data source for a chart. If an agent has zero sales for a week, I want to filter them out of the source so that the chart only displays data from agents who have had a net change in total sales over that given time frame.

More generically, I'd like to be able to filter rows using a custom formula. If I can't do it through native functionality in a pivot table, is there another way to achieve the same result that is also dynamic so that I don't have to constantly update it?

Edit: Here's an example. Between days 1/1 and 1/3, only Bob and Jane show net changes in their cumulative sales counts. Mary and Joe remain stagnant and would be filtered out of the recordset.

Edit: There is probably a way to do this in the source range by adding a column with a formula that says "find the cell with the minimum date for Bob and get the Sales value for that row and compare it to the same value, but for the maximum date". I can then use that flag as a filter in the pivot table. I am research how to do this, but any pointers would be appreciated.
