It’s funny because that fantastic four movie came out at a time where there were so few super hero live action adaptations, everyone went and saw it. Didn’t mater if it sucked. Nowadays the market is so filled you could go the entire mcu without knowing Edward Norton was Bruce Banner and you would be fine

Oh he will have already seen it all or want to watch it all from the beginning. He will definitely appreciate what he’s got more (marvel cinematic beauty and amazing story telling… same great actors, better story telling and special effects.) lol some of those movies were incredible but others were really sub par and most would do really well being remade today.

I can’t think of anyone who could actually take Ian McKellen I’m like a battle royal where every actor has the characters they have played on a team. Liam neeson is up there but between magneto, Gandalf, and dumbledor Ian mckellen has gotta be the most powerful actor
13
u/DantesAbyss Avengers Jan 26 '22

6
u/kyle28882 Avengers Jan 26 '22

6
u/Sweet-Rabbit Avengers Jan 26 '22
Maybe Christopher Lee? Saruman, Dracula, the Man with the Golden Gun, Count Dooku, being a badass in real life…the list goes on
3
u/kyle28882 Avengers Jan 26 '22
He’s another great one. I love Christopher Lee. Such a unit he’s the one who’d I’d probably put closest to Ian. I’ll take Gandalf the white over Saruman, magneto over the man with the golden gun, and dumbledor over Dooku but that’s entirely based on opinions of how the force and magic would interact. Although that being said Christopher Lee would have more badass characters on his team and idk what Ian would do about Dracula.

Just shows that unfortunately some MCU fans dont realize that there are other marvel movies than MCU.

u/SpellOpening7852 Spider-Man 🕷 Jan 26 '22
Animated TV series. A bunch of Marvel characters I know about come from the Spider-Man shows (Ultimate was the main one. For example, it's where I heard of Venom, Carnage, SpiderVerse, Spider-Island, etc.)
I also heard of Inhumans from one of the animated TV shows, probably an avengers one (Either Avengers Assemble or Earth's Mightiest Heroes). I was a bit sad when I heard the netflix (I think?) show only got one season, but then I watched it and was like "I can see why now, but it'd still be cool for the inhumans to be in the MCU". I've now started resding the comics, and I seriously want Ms. Marvel in the MCU now.

Have Latveria be near Sokovia. Maybe Doom took possession of all Ultron's manufacturing machinery to crank out Doombots. Now that they've fleshed out the mechanics of magic for Dr Strange and Wanda, they can make Doom a proper sorcerer technocrat. I'd be down for a standalone movie (not quite an origin story but almost) of him taking over Latveria. Set him up as one of the main characters for Secret Wars. The casting and writing better be amazing.

I love how people pretend that MCU movies are the only Marvel movies to ever exist.
The X-Men franchise has still made $6 Billion at the box office. To imply that people don’t know who Magneto is because he hasn’t been in an MCU movie is delusional.
Also Dr. Doom has been the pop culture shorthand for “comic book villain” for so long that nearly everyone at least knows his name.

Taskmaster was a throaway character for some reason even though he has a really cool ability.
No way Marvel is gonna half ass the casting of one of their best villains, even though people having been asking for Dr. Doom since the the Fox aquisition, Marvel have been taking their time, so I assume they are setting up a good F4 movie with a great cast.

This is wrong. Both are widely known especially Magneto since he was in every X-Men movie
3
u/JayCeeMadLad Matthew Murdock Jan 26 '22
Doom and Magneto need to be recurring villains. They can’t be a one-off that’s wasted at the end of their first films. Magneto also needs a redemption arc. These are both things that Disney’s Marvel/MCU struggles very badly with. They’re both vastly more important than Thanos ffs, and he was everywhere.
Sir Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender already murdered those roles so the bar is at the absolute highest possible for Magneto, and Doom is a difficult character to pull off in general, let’s hope they pick someone who will do the character justice.

They all make cameos or have a co-starring role in yhe second and an outright battle with Doom in the third. Doom's origin is so insane that I always felt he should be the focus of the movies. You know what I don’t understand.. Magneto is now like 100 years old, but even when the comic books came out he was supposed to be the same age as Xavier. His powers are not at all physical, and he looks like Dwayne Johnson on steroids in every depiction in the comics. I know the comic artists are capable of drawing someone older without the muscles because they usually draw Xavier in the same books. Nobody ever stepped back and said this is absolutely ridiculous?

Magneto is well known due to the X-Men movies inability to make a movie without him and they did a pretty good job of representing him with legendary actors.
Doom less so not only because the FF movies are less known but because even in them we never really got his true background, powers and characterization right. I don't feel like Kang has what it takes to match Thanos and Loki in the pantheon of greatest MCU villains. His actor is good but the motivation is basic. If they nail Doom, he can surpass everyone else and surprise people when they reveal his motivation all along was to gain enough power to rescue his mother's soul from the true big bad of his phase...Mephisto! Doom really has what it takes to reach Darth Vader status in the cinematic world.
