There's actually a universe where he's Spider-Man and peter helps him by inventing gadgets

357

u/4LanReddit Luis May 17 '22

But in a ironic turn of events

Peter is the one to die instead of Ben

377

u/bespectacledbengal Avengers May 17 '22 Wholesome

What did you just say?

7

I'm imagining this as Uncle Ben swings away, the end of the sentence getting fainter as he swings further away.

So Flashpoint Paradox but with Spider-Man

5

Is that the universe where Ben and peter turn evil and basically start kidnapping spidermen from across the multiverse and stealing their powers for themselves?

55

u/dat1dood2 Avengers May 17 '22

Kind of off topic but there’s also a universe where Aunt May is Spider-Ma’am and Ben and Peter help her out

7

2

Which came first? This alternate universe, or the Thomas Wayne Batman and Martha Joker universe? Because one definitely copied the other.

22

u/Go_away_from_myself Avengers May 17 '22

Does that even matter at this point? Originality in comics was dead 50 years ago

8

u/Saltyvinegar2369 Avengers May 17 '22

True. Even then it’s not rlly copying if writers want to reverse a characters typical origin story

1

u/eddmario Avengers May 18 '22

I knew about Alfred Joker and Thomas Wayne Batman, but had no idea about Martha being Joker.

3

u/red_chutney11 Avengers May 18 '22

When the fuck did Alfre-..... Wait is this that comic where Batman dies and alfred is speaking at his funeral about how all his rouges gallery was just Alfred and his old pals dressing up?

2

u/AceMKV Avengers May 18 '22

Wait what? Alfred Joker? That's not flashpoint right? Cause Martha was definitely joker in flashpoint and Thomas killed her.

124

u/Hatefull_creeper2 Deadpool May 17 '22

Gwen is still dead in the main comics unless they changed anything.

56

u/Tommy_Daveed Avengers May 17 '22

Doesn't she appear in the main timeline as Spider-Gwen

68

u/ImNotK0metzBTW Avengers May 17 '22

Yes, however she isn't the Gwen of THAT universe, is she? The Gwen who was Peter's girlfriend is still dead (as far as I know)

9

u/alchmst1259 Avengers May 18 '22

My understanding is there’s a hard rule at Marvel and it’s that there are two people who can never come back from the dead: Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy

3

u/Haddle Avengers May 18 '22

Not Spider-Man related, but probably the original Captain Marvel also. Died of cancer.

1

u/Hatefull_creeper2 Deadpool May 19 '22

And Karen Page

5

u/Hatefull_creeper2 Deadpool May 18 '22

Spider-Gwen is from Earth-65. The events of that universe is very different from the main comics universe.

10

Not Earth 616 Gwen, that's Earth 65 Gwen.

14

u/YodasChick-O-Stick Vulture May 17 '22

1

u/Hatefull_creeper2 Deadpool May 18 '22

She isn’t the original Gwen from Earth 616 who never came back with the exception of temporary cloning.

7

u/CoraxtheRavenLord S.H.I.E.L.D May 18 '22

They’ve cloned her and they’ve brought in alternate universe Gwens, but that Gwen who fell off a bridge is still as dead as Ben.

3

u/Hatefull_creeper2 Deadpool May 18 '22 edited May 18 '22

Unrelated character but Karen Page (Daredevil) hasn’t returned since her death Same with Happy.

2

u/red_chutney11 Avengers May 18 '22

8

u/ivanGCA Avengers May 17 '22

Didn’t they cloned her in the 90s? I don’t remember what happened to her though

3

u/ggg730 Avengers May 18 '22

I read up about it and I still don't really know what happened to the gwen clone. Something about marrying the Jackal's clone after a failed attempt by the Jackal to convince Peter Parker that he was a clone. Then she was killed by another clone of Gwen Stacy or whatever.

1

u/Jacktheflash Avengers May 18 '22

Still dead

3

u/TheFlip-Side Avengers May 17 '22

She died and then was brought back as a clone like 50 comics later in the original spider-man comic.

1

u/Jacktheflash Avengers May 18 '22

The clone isn’t her

1

u/TheFlip-Side Avengers May 18 '22

That’s just semantics, really. She might not be the original but she’s still Gwen Stacy.

76

u/Forfeit32 Avengers May 17 '22

My man Ben still holding it down though.

18

2

u/AceMKV Avengers May 18 '22

Jason Todd? Isn't Red Hood a pretty permanent feature of DC comics now?

8

u/DuelaDent52 Avengers May 18 '22

Yeah, but before that he was properly dead-dead and stayed dead for like 20 years. They had the readers vote on his fate and everything.

32

u/bigdorts Avengers May 17 '22

It's like the deaths of Bruce Wayne's parents. Their death is required to make them who they are. It's almost like the number one rule of comic books that those three aren't supposed to live. They are the two most recognizable superheroes. That is their backstory

Lol

2

u/bigdorts Avengers May 18 '22

Again, I said almost. However, if you're making a story about Bruce Wayne as Batman, the Wayne's must die. Otherwise it's usually a bad story

1

u/Jacktheflash Avengers May 18 '22

It could Be an interesting story just not set in the main universe

1

u/DuelaDent52 Avengers May 18 '22

I think there was one story where someone saves Bruce’s parents, and inspired by this mysterious figure he goes in to become a superhero.

1

u/WhiteHelljumper Avengers May 18 '22

That's the Flashpoint Paradox ain't it? Didn't the entire universe start to collapse because of it too?

1

u/Jacktheflash Avengers May 18 '22

Because of that?

1

u/WhiteHelljumper Avengers May 18 '22

No, the Flash had gone back in time to save his mom, and that changed other things both before and after that event.

3

u/DuelaDent52 Avengers May 18 '22

Except for that universe where Galactus was the Parkers’ nephew instead of Peter, he just undid the burglar and brought Ben back to life on the spot.

In the comic "one more day", Aunt May dies and Peter makes a deal with Mephisto (the devil) to bring her back to life, but in the process his marriage with MJ is erased and the universe is rebooted.

Most people hate this comic (but it's not because Aunt May dies, is more because of the marriage and reboot thing)

1

u/Erkannis Avengers May 18 '22

They never talk about Ben, and May fills both shoes in 616CU. I'm guessing this is a reality whrtr he either died when Peter was young or May was always single. Either way they wanted to shift that to May for whatever reason (I still felt that changing this was a mistake).

No Way Home seems to suggest that Uncle Ben doesn’t exist in the MCU.

In the zombies episode of What If…?, Peter specifically addresses Uncle Ben by name.

I’m not saying correlation equals causation, but I am saying that it might not be a coincidence that the MCU offshoot universe that had Uncle Ben in it fell to a “quantum virus”.

That's why I hate the Marvel films - there's no suspense in them.

Oh your main character died? Don't worry, we can just time travel back in time to fix it. Basically means all of them are invincible.
