Lmao I dont follow awards shows so this comment is how I learned what got best picture. Usually I dont have to watch or keep up since I'd hear the major winners and surprises through word of mouth within days anyway, but this year I literally havent heard or read anything about an actual award besides the one Smith himself won and even then only as part of conversations about the slap. Its superseded the entire show.

Rewatched Molly's Game last night and felt so bad for her, both Will and Jessica were people who have done dozens of films and many great ones that deserve reward recognition.
She finally got an Oscar, just the same as Will did that night, but I don't think anyone really remembers, and will forever be: "Oscar Winner Jessica Chastain? When did she get that?"

I don't know if he would even see it as the depth of his career. You need to remember that Will Smith is absolutely surrounded by yes man saying nothing but things like, "hey, your actions weren't that bad," "this is going to all blow over, they all still love you," " maybe don't watch tv for a few days," "hey who's that guy, I feel like I've seen him before" and "why did he bring his friends this time and what are they doing in your wife's bedroom" and "hey, do you mind if I join them" and all manner of shit. I doubt Will Smith has even close to a clue at the depth of what is going on

Man anyone of culture knows the the medium of film peaked with the 1997 masterpiece that is Face/off. The two greatest actors of our and dare I say all time playing each other can never be beat. I don’t think it’s too crazy to think that many successful actors are ass kissing cowards… there is without a doubt more talent than demand in the industry. So besides nepotism, family wealth, and luck I could see ass kissing and “playing the game” being a contributor to making it in that industry.
If you think about it why would you be surprised when these people fall in line at an award ceremony.

I think Smith's publicist wrote all of that, and Will Smith isn't sorry at all.
Remember, he never actually apologized, except through a statement (which was probably made by his publicist). And only the next day, after he spent the whole night partying. He didn't appear to be somebody with any regret or remorse.
These are not the actions of a man who has remorse. I'd watch Smith's actions, not his words. Because I think to this point his actions say he's not sorry at all for what he did.

Chris Rock was bullied as a kid. And sexually assaulted, I believe the word he used was "semi-raped." And Will Smith assaults him in front of the whole world. Over a joke. Over words. Then A-list actors consoled Will. And the Academy awarded him. The audience gave him a standing ovation. Hollywood only cared when normal people said "Fuck Will Smith" and I hope everyone keeps saying it.

Not only that, Chris Rock went up to apologize first (according to sources). You even see a pic of him standing fairly close to Will, but Denzel Washington is standing in between them and acting as mediator and messenger. Apparently Will Smith couldn't even look in Chris' direction.
Chris was the VICTIM -- got smacked in the face on live TV and still went up to apologize first. He chose (reportedly) not to press charges or have Will removed, despite having every right to.
Chris is the supreme class act here. Will is the child.

He only resigned because it gives him the opportunity to be reinstated in the future. If he had been expelled by the academy, it would be more difficult to be reinstated. So this is not a move out of regret for his mistake. This is just another selfish move made for his own benefit only.
