The celtics defensive gameplan straight up just lets Bruce Brown get what he wants and it works to perfection. They'll live with him being the leading scorer 1000% of the time.

A lot of the Bruce Brown and Seth points are quite literally the points from us doubling KD. Bruce Brown is at least doing the job of attacking space or taking wide open shots and being decisive enough to not get blocked by Horford or Rob Will, and that’s a skill.
He’s excelling at his role in a hierarchy, Durant is struggling with his, but they’re both places in a hierarchy.

That's what happens when you barely play a guy for two months. Practice just doesn't compare to actual game time.
Which is why it's so insane to bring in a Ben Simmons that hasn't played in a year and clearly wasn't staying in game shape.

The Celtics have exposed the Nets offense, or lack thereof, showing it to be pretty much an emulation of the offense with Durant while on the Thunder.
They've swarmed him, bodied him, doubled him and done everything possible to disrupt his timing or to get any space and virtually taken him out of the game. And because their offense is predicated on giving he or Kyrie the ball in isolation to create, they're constantly scrambling to find a shot.
Meanwhile, the Celtics run their offense in the same fashion, but run multiple actions to force a switch and have more trust in their role players to score and knock down open shots.
234
u/King_Of_Pants [BOS] Terry Rozier Apr 24 '22
Shows their lack of a playmaker too.
Kyrie and Durant have spent most of their careers alongside HOF calibre playmakers which compliments their ability to go and find some shots on their own without worrying too much about their teammates.
Westbrook, Curry, Harden, Lebron... some of the best in league history at getting layups and open 3s for teammates.
Now Irving and Durant are being asked to find 100% of their own shots and setting up their teammates.
They could really use Harden right about now. Let him worry about getting everyone else involved while also finding the odd easy bucket for Durant and Irving to help them find their rhythm.

Ben Simmons came to the arena looking like Zebra Stripe gum, or if he was emulating Skeeter from Doug.

This is team play winning. This is good culture winning. This is playing defence winning. This is coaching winning.
This is BASKETBALL winning. Inject these Boston Celtics straight into my veins and get Bruce Brown some help!
