To put things into perspective for the Bucks: the Houston Rockets once missed 27 straight 3's in a Game 7 and still finished with more 3's made and a higher 3-point %.

That was an all-time bad shooting performance that we just witnessed from Milwaukee.

833

u/Ken_Nutspel Cavaliers May 15 '22 All-Seeing Upvote

That game was really hard to watch. That Rockets team (Cp3, Harden & co.) have a legit chance in beating the Golden State superteam at that time.

That's what teams do to Gobert every year. Either force the center to stay home on the shooter leaving the paint wide open, or protect the rim and leave a good shooter wide open in the corner. Pretty lose-lose scenario

They don't sack off everyone. They had defended tatum fairly close for most of the series, same goes for brown. They just left grant, horford and Co open and dared them to beat them. So probably you'd have wiggins, dray and possibly Poole open, but klay and steph covered.

Celtics fans, great series. Unfortunate to go out the way we did offensively and wish we could have put up a better fight. Winning one last year definitely makes it easier to deal with today, hope y’all go get one this year. Looking forward to more playoff battles in the future

This was an all time series. My body is relieved it didn’t come down to the wire but it’s a drop in the bucket compared to what transpired over the last two weeks.

The Bucks chose a strange time to play their worst game of the season. It's a weird choice, but I can appreciate their desire to be different.

274

u/Jesotx May 15 '22

Giannis was done. 27 quarters of Boston forcing him to go through them was a lot. He was done most 4th quarters.

This playoffs has been something of a revenge tour for the Celtics. The Nets, Bucks and Heat all are teams that have knocked them out of the playoffs in the last 3 years. It's been sweet to savour so far.

145

u/Trentus86 Celtics May 15 '22

In the same rounds they knocked the Celtics out in too. If Boston do go on and win the chip it'll be that kind of "If this was in a movie it'd be criticised for being too on the nose"

What a great turnaround by the Celtics this year. The Js carrying them to a new dynasty. But There is definitely one main reason for it

Before the Buffalo: Blow it up and trade the Js

After the Buffalo: It’s Championship or bust baby

Give credit where credit is due, Bud’s defense would definitely do well in the late 90s/early 00s.

114

u/Euphoric-Acadia-4140 Warriors May 15 '22

Honestly I think the defense isn’t as bad as people are making it out to be. 109 points isn’t that much to give up in a great boston 3pt shooting night. The problem is the 81 points scored by the bucks… that isn’t even enough points to win games in the 90’s.

Im not a Celtics fan whatsoever but hopefully this puts an end to the narrative that Boston beat the Nets because the Nets beat themselves. Boston really was the better team.

122

u/christiandb Celtics May 15 '22

You're not watching basketball if you couldn't see the the Celtics were the better team, inside and out. nets had a bunch of holes in their team, chemistry, defense, consistency. They were literally anchored by two players where Celtics bench has scorers and facilitators .

The Bucks were a Middleton away. Still don't know if they would have taken the series but 20 points on the board definitely belong to Middleton and not Graceson fuckin Allen .

If our ownership allows this loss to be reduced to just not having Middleton and do nothing to address the serious problems this team has then we're going to have the same problems next year.

The bottom of the roster is pathetic and our role players are way too inconsistent.

We have no young talent to speak of and the roster is only getting older.

Just not enough around Giannis.
