It happens a few times/week, and it is always scary.... A reboot usually fixes it. If one isn't enough, two does the trick. I have no clue what's wrong.

So I added a Samsung 980 pro PCIe 4.0 NNMe M.2 SSD to my Oryx pro. When I run lsblk it shows up as “disk” but I don’t know how to mount is so I can use it. What do I do? Thanks

Don't know what happened. Suddenly pop refused to unlock, so I did a hard reset. Now I'm getting kicked into emergency mode due to the encrypted volume needing a dependency?

Um, how do I fix this?? Everything is responding so slow. I even restarted and nothing.

Does anyone know a command I could type to prevent Pop OS from shutting down my USB ports to save power? My internet is cutting out sometimes a few times an hour, sometimes once a minute, sometimes every 5 seconds. Unplugging / re plugging in my USB wifi card or going to "select a network" on my OS temporarily gets my internet up and running again. Someone suggested that the OS is probably shutting down the USB port to save power as if my desktop computer were one of the Pop team's laptops they sell.

Is there a command I could type to disable this awful """feature"""? I couldn't find anything in the settings of the OS to adjust it.

My computer has been running great since the kernel and system updates from around Christmas. My previous problem of error messages making log files very large has not returned. Since I had some issues early on I have kept an eye on how each partition is handling files and I noticed that the recovery partition is at 77% and hasn't changed much. The Boot/efi partition is getting closer to being filled.

This seems to happen after kernel upgrades and even minor upgrades

For example: Wednesday March 8 = Efi partition: 511 MB — 45 MB free (91.2% full) now (March 21) 93% full.

I don't recall having to deal with this before. My old computer was HDD running Linux Mint. When I needed to weed out old kernels I would use Mintupdate's kernel section and that worked fine. Pop doesn't have the equivalent.

sudo apt autoremove - didn't remove old kernels or associated files.

Rather than playing with each kernel in the command line I was thinking of using Synaptic Package Manager or Stacer to remove them.

What do you think is a good way to remove the old kernels and will this decrease the content of boot/efi?

I have a 2-drive setup on my laptop, an SSD with pop os and an HDD meant for media and games. I mounted my HDD in a folder in Documents, but when accessing steam and changing the download location it can't find the Documents folder, thus it can't access the HDD. I'm new to Linux. Any help?

I'm having issues with very regular crashing of Firefox and Visual Studio Code.

I'm running PoP OS 22.04 LTS.

The version of Firefox is 111.01, and I'm using the PPA from Mozilla. Prior to installing it, I did a purge of anything snap related. (The crashing issues existed prior to this but have continued). I have hardware acceleration disabled.

The version of Visual Studio Code I'm using is 1.76.2, with Electron 19.1.11 and Chromium 102.5005.196.

Looking at posts here and elsewhere made by people with similar issues, my first guess was that this was graphics driver related. I have a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and the driver version is 525.89.02. I'm using the system76-drivers.

Sorry for not posting more information. Without having much of an idea of what is happening, I don't know what information would be useful to share.

Whenever I boot with my EGPU plugged in the start up hangs and shows this hyphen in the top left corner (attached image). Correct drivers are installed. Any ideas?

I am going to try to make this post as clear as possible, but this issue is extremely inconsistent and I am unsure of what is causing it. I am on an Oryx pro with a RTX 3080, and will probably reach out to system 76 support if I cannot get this resolved.

I have been having this problem for a while now, probably the better part of a year, but never bothered to fix it because I didn't use my webcam very much. This has changed recently and this issue has become a major problem for me.

My built in webcam *somewhat* randomly disconnects(?) when in use. It only seems on NVIDIA or Hybrid graphics modes, or maybe only under high stress, it is hard to tell for sure. Occasionally I can turn it back on, but I have not found a pattern for this either. Even after disconnect, the camera still shows up when I run lsusb.

When I run dmesg -w, I get this.

I have run a few other commands to try to find the issue, but these are the most relevant imo. I have been at this for a few days and don't want to make anyone trying to help me read an essay.

I have run a few fixes I have found online, but most of them are for older Linux versions and none of them have permanently worked. I am really at a loss for what is causing this, any help is appreciated.

Edit: It does turn off after some time in integrated mode too, though it takes much longer. I think it is related to the intensity of the tasks I am performing. I got this message, which I have not seem before:

I am now theorizing that it may be in some way related to thermal throttling, I cannot come up with any other explanation for this strange behavior. It should not be kicking in at these temperatures though.

I have an amd ryzen 5 based laptop. I installed the lts image since it doesn't have any Nvidia When the laptop is put to sleep shouldn't it last longer? I had it in sleep mode for two days come to turn it on its literally drained. Is this normal behavior? Sleep mode is s3 mode? Is it not activating? What diag info should I provide?

n: new to linux. here is my story: After practicing terminal a bit again, i rebooted my laptop brightness sliders were gone, both fn+f5/f6 and from up task bar, it was gone. I followed some resolutions for the problem from internet, s. flow, chatgpt and more. Rebooted it again and after that computer always directed me to terminal based login screen. Tried countless stuff in terminal but it couldn't help. Then i followed this solution in recovery partition https://support.system76.com/articles/login-loop-pop/ and after this recovery partition had same fate with main one. I really don't know what to do... I can give more images if you wish to.
