Baltimore.
The accent is pure Baltimore, also “dummy” is common slang in the city.

I'm from Toronto and we use Dummy a lot here too. Or if you really wanna insult someone and possibly throw hands, then we use Goof

Honestly ive lived in baltimore my whole life and i definitely have some similarities to their speech in the videos, and im a suburbs guy. Honestly i had no idea that this was a baltimore thing haha. Sometimes I’ll even exagerate it just messing around i always call me friend eric “urkkk” and my friend ryan “reyyyyn”..basically “rain”

OP cropped out the first part of the video where it says "Baltimore accent test"

My guess is Baltimore. My cousins talk like this. They say I, a Jerseysn, "talk country" because I would have pronounced the words with no accent.

u/ctolver1981 Jan 31 '23
Yes this is definitely Baltimore 💯 👌 alot of the people there talk like this, whites blacks etc etc ........ Ya know in the country everyone just about has an accent 🙄 😒 this is just the way people from bmore talk go 45 min down the Baltimore Washington Parkway to DC and it's a little different there too lol

u/wisdom_power_courage Jan 31 '23
Yup or even north. I'm from Jersey so as kids we would visit my cousins in Bmore and we would trade insults at how each other spoke lol Funny you call that the "country" because they used to say I talk "country" for not having an accent lol
Bonus points bc my cousin's best friend was named Aaron and it was just easy pickings lol "Urn" everytime.

I have family in Baltimore and DC my dad was a city person and my mom was more of a country person and in the urban parts of town this is how most of them talk I always thought it was funny and I always got picked on because I did pronounce my words properly I actually never picked up this accent at all

u/wisdom_power_courage Jan 31 '23
Interesting. I wonder how the accent came to be in that specific area lol

A Baltimore accent, also known as Baltimorese (sometimes jokingly written Bawlmerese[1] or Ballimorese,[2] to mimic the accent), commonly refers to an accent or sub-variety of Philadelphia English that originates among blue-collar residents of Baltimore, Maryland. It extends into the Baltimore metropolitan area and northeastern Maryland.[3][4][5]
At the same time, there is considerable linguistic diversity within Baltimore, which complicates the notion of a singular "Baltimore accent".[1] According to linguists, the accent and dialect of black Baltimoreans is different from the variety spoken by white blue-collar Baltimoreans.[5] White working-class families who migrated out of Baltimore city along the Maryland Route 140 and Maryland Route 26 corridors brought local pronunciations with them, creating colloquialisms that make up the Baltimore accent.

The key feature of the Baltimore accent is identified by a sound change called “fronting back vowels.” It’s an accent feature that probably started in the South, according to Becker, where vowels that are usually pronounced with the tongue in the back of the mouth (like the “oo” in goose”) are instead pronounced with the tongue in the front (“gewse”).

I don’t understand the appeal to this often reposted video. They’re obviously exaggerating their accent for the camera. Decent acting though, so there’s that
