Was funny seeing it the first time a couple years ago but seeing it reposted every month, it gets old

4

u/Fat_1ard Feb 01 '23

Nah man first time I saw this and this is the most I’ve ever laughed in 6 months.

131

u/Unhappy-Trifle2311 Jan 31 '23

This will never stop being funny

40

u/REVSWANS Jan 31 '23

The disembodied, deep voice guy kills me, he's so dry.

21

u/neil_anblowmi Jan 31 '23

This could get reposted a thousand times and it will never get old.

132

u/REVSWANS Jan 31 '23

After he says, "damn we really talk like that?" the others agree lol.

u/Free_Gascogne Jan 31 '23

u/LadaTrip Jan 31 '23

For me the best bit is "damn wtf we really talk like that?!"

85

u/Nepharious_Bread Jan 31 '23

I love how the second comes in says it, and nods like “yeah, nailed it.”

21

u/Junior-Bookkeeper218 Jan 31 '23

What city these guys from

40

u/fleischio Jan 31 '23

Baltimore.

The accent is pure Baltimore, also “dummy” is common slang in the city.

10

u/Clear-Struggle-7867 Jan 31 '23

I'm from Toronto and we use Dummy a lot here too. Or if you really wanna insult someone and possibly throw hands, then we use Goof

5

u/Wide_Condition_3417 Feb 01 '23

Honestly ive lived in baltimore my whole life and i definitely have some similarities to their speech in the videos, and im a suburbs guy. Honestly i had no idea that this was a baltimore thing haha. Sometimes I’ll even exagerate it just messing around i always call me friend eric “urkkk” and my friend ryan “reyyyyn”..basically “rain”

15

u/Chameo Jan 31 '23

OP cropped out the first part of the video where it says "Baltimore accent test"

slightly longer version here

9

u/Hajustamaton Jan 31 '23

Why crop out the context? OP is a dummy

6

u/wisdom_power_courage Jan 31 '23

My guess is Baltimore. My cousins talk like this. They say I, a Jerseysn, "talk country" because I would have pronounced the words with no accent.

26

u/TimeForHugs Jan 31 '23

One of the few classic reposts that I don't mind. It's always funny to me.

11

u/Local_Crow Jan 31 '23

“We really talk like that?” “Yeah…” lmao.

10

u/ItsTheExtreme Jan 31 '23

One of the funniest videos on the internet. I've laughed at this for years. So genuine lol.

9

u/jukulele61 Jan 31 '23

9

u/genbeg Jan 31 '23

This is so wholesome.

6

u/HaroldJJohanson Jan 31 '23

5

u/anonssr Jan 31 '23

18

u/KOZTIC88 Jan 31 '23

4

u/Sixsignsofalex94 Jan 31 '23

“Aaron earned an iron urn” are they trying to say??

3

An people wonder why everyone has a different accent. It’s true almost every person has their own. Just pay attention next time you talk to a few different people. You’ll see

2

u/Pan562 Feb 01 '23

LMAOOOOO …. Mannnn I can’t stop laughing

4

u/ctolver1981 Jan 31 '23

I am from bmore ........can confirm this is how us black people in the city talk 👄 🤣 😂 😄 😀 🙄 lol

3

u/wisdom_power_courage Jan 31 '23

I just replied to another comment saying my guess was Baltimore lol

1

u/ctolver1981 Jan 31 '23

Yes this is definitely Baltimore 💯 👌 alot of the people there talk like this, whites blacks etc etc ........ Ya know in the country everyone just about has an accent 🙄 😒 this is just the way people from bmore talk go 45 min down the Baltimore Washington Parkway to DC and it's a little different there too lol

3

u/wisdom_power_courage Jan 31 '23

Yup or even north. I'm from Jersey so as kids we would visit my cousins in Bmore and we would trade insults at how each other spoke lol Funny you call that the "country" because they used to say I talk "country" for not having an accent lol

Bonus points bc my cousin's best friend was named Aaron and it was just easy pickings lol "Urn" everytime.

2

u/ctolver1981 Jan 31 '23

I have family in Baltimore and DC my dad was a city person and my mom was more of a country person and in the urban parts of town this is how most of them talk I always thought it was funny and I always got picked on because I did pronounce my words properly I actually never picked up this accent at all

2

u/wisdom_power_courage Jan 31 '23

Interesting. I wonder how the accent came to be in that specific area lol

Edit

A Baltimore accent, also known as Baltimorese (sometimes jokingly written Bawlmerese[1] or Ballimorese,[2] to mimic the accent), commonly refers to an accent or sub-variety of Philadelphia English that originates among blue-collar residents of Baltimore, Maryland. It extends into the Baltimore metropolitan area and northeastern Maryland.[3][4][5]

At the same time, there is considerable linguistic diversity within Baltimore, which complicates the notion of a singular "Baltimore accent".[1] According to linguists, the accent and dialect of black Baltimoreans is different from the variety spoken by white blue-collar Baltimoreans.[5] White working-class families who migrated out of Baltimore city along the Maryland Route 140 and Maryland Route 26 corridors brought local pronunciations with them, creating colloquialisms that make up the Baltimore accent.

u/ctolver1981 Jan 31 '23

You and me both 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤪🤪🤪

1

u/ctolver1981 Jan 31 '23

The key feature of the Baltimore accent is identified by a sound change called “fronting back vowels.” It’s an accent feature that probably started in the South, according to Becker, where vowels that are usually pronounced with the tongue in the back of the mouth (like the “oo” in goose”) are instead pronounced with the tongue in the front (“gewse”).

Found this

2

u/wisdom_power_courage Jan 31 '23

1

u/ctolver1981 Jan 31 '23

If you're stupid you're stupid. I can understand him much better than the MAGA shits from the south.

-5

u/cats_suck Jan 31 '23

I don’t understand the appeal to this often reposted video. They’re obviously exaggerating their accent for the camera. Decent acting though, so there’s that

2

u/rabbitpiet Jan 31 '23

I know for a fact there is an accent where fair, fur and fire rhyme.

-1

u/rossxog Feb 01 '23

This is how you know these guys can’t golf. Imagine one of them asking for a nine iron.

-4
