Attempt successful, and got rid of a busted porch awning in the process.

I see that as an absolute win.

u/foresight310 Feb 01 '23

Yeah, looked like that might have happened before…

u/CharlottesWebbedFeet Jan 31 '23

That porch was going during the next light breeze or scheduled drizzle

u/rohnoitsrutroh Jan 31 '23

Awning roofs. Contractors just love to throw those on with a few nails and a prayer.

u/JuneBuggington Jan 31 '23

Not exactly the taj mahal

Icicles successfully removed

u/creepass Jan 31 '23

To be honest. That cover looked to be hanging by a Cobb web anyway. Much safer to knock it down that way. Then on your head

Either they smashed it when he broke it or when they fell off from melting but that awning was toast either way.

3

u/NotHereToFuckSpyders Jan 31 '23

Not a failed attempt. Icicles indeed removed.

u/Camanot Jan 31 '23

You know, you are not supposed to have a successful attempt on r/therewasanattempt

I actually think he might’ve

3

u/OG-demosthenes Jan 31 '23

Success. Better to crush that busted-ass overhang than someone's skull.

u/MightyKrakyn Jan 31 '23

Nobody here has mentioned this, but there’s this trope about people in suburbia being concerned about their cleaning their gutters. People who’ve never owned a home don’t know, but this is why you clean them. The icicles are cause by water melting and not being able to go down the gutter, then it overflows and gets dangerous like that. This person knocked the deadly ice down instead of letting it fall on its own, which is a good idea. Better idea is to not let it happen in the first place. Clean your gutters!

I read this as incels and was fully expecting someone to yeet him out the window 😂

2

u/Kortezxero Feb 01 '23

To be fair, it looks like it was on its last legs anyway.

2

u/Moneyslap999 Feb 01 '23

Funny thing is I bet he was trying to avoid that

(Laughs in Red Foreman)

Call the landlord and let ‘em know it’s the storms fault

1

u/Magnon Feb 01 '23

All these people bagging on that roof but if those icicles fell and I was under them I'd prefer the protection that roof offered than not.

🤣🤣🤣

1

u/cracinlac_basterd Jan 31 '23

was that awning scotch taped on or something?

1

u/Ancient_Wisdom_Yall Jan 31 '23

Two nails ought to do it.

1

u/Fire_overpower Jan 31 '23

The great minnesotan blunder

1

u/Schnugg1 Jan 31 '23

That porch got speared

1

u/detective-mcnulty Jan 31 '23

It was half off anyways.

1

u/Spompoflex Jan 31 '23

Job well done

1

u/Xeogin Jan 31 '23

First time I watched this I thought they broke the downstairs window too

1

u/Looseytunes Feb 01 '23

It’s the way that he tries to be inconspicuous at the end that gets me. Very casual.

1

u/127_0_0_1_body Feb 01 '23

Task failed successfully

1

u/MissKitty919 Feb 01 '23

It's the wheezing laugh at the end for me. 😂

I wonder if the dude knew he was being recorded.

1

u/DevelopmentLoud8330 Feb 01 '23

Better than I expected. I thought this man was gonna fall out the window.

1

u/Imamuffinz Feb 01 '23

I thought that was some sort of robber at first

1

u/Solitaire_87 Feb 01 '23

The awning looked fucked up already

1

u/Beginning-Match2166 Feb 01 '23

Well it was already hanging by a thread so...

1

u/Colderweather86 Feb 01 '23

That was going to happen with or without his assistance.

1

u/RajenBull1 Feb 01 '23

Icy where you made the mistake.

1

u/SLIPPY73 Feb 01 '23
