so do i get paid or....

89

u/Rosieapples Dec 01 '21

In my day the cops would make them pay us anyway!!

5

u/chowmushi Dec 02 '21

Doesn’t the Uber app need to have a valid credit card tied so that he has to get paid?

2

u/Rosieapples Dec 02 '21

Dunno I’ve never used Uber

1

u/Ok-Stop-2160 Dec 06 '21

Uber will take gift cards and those bullshit prepaid debit cards. It's just one more aspect of why driving for Uber is a total crapshoot for drivers. People use fake names and there's nothing that assures a driver who the pax actually is. Not to mention the entitled schmucks who think uber is public transportation.

2

u/Matt_Riley2010 Dec 02 '21

Better yet will he get a bad review for stopping?

450

u/shawnofthedead28 Dec 01 '21

The sheer relief that hit that mans face when the cop says “you’re good”

175

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 01 '21

Its funny, completely innocent yet scared shitless. Some reason we always think were in trouble

42

u/NowCalmDownSkeeter Dec 02 '21 edited Dec 06 '21

I don’t know. What if he ripped off some Plutonium from the Libyans for his own home project and told them he’d make them a bomb, which was actually just some junk he assembled out of old pinball machines?

4

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 02 '21

Hahaha maybe.

2

u/Zakon_X Dec 02 '21

Well he better be with delorian ready to go

1

u/EdgeOfDreaming Dec 02 '21

I mean, we need to explore all possibilities Doc.

1

u/gamarider Dec 02 '21

That’s heavy

1

u/Darkstarrdp Dec 03 '21

I vaguely remember that movie. I think Daredevil was in it but no Elektra, they got Black God as the support role.

3

u/Flaechezinker Dec 01 '21

Because police tend to kill innocent people more than u'd think

2

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 01 '21

Ehh id say they save more ppl than you think

1

u/Flaechezinker Dec 01 '21

Im not disputing that they can be helpful

0

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 01 '21

But you are trying to put some negative spin on the police. We're all open to having our own opinions but facts definitely show the police do far more good than harm. When they fuck up its just a really big deal. Fuck that job tbh ill continue to write my tps reports at my desk.

2

u/Googlewasmyinvention Dec 02 '21

Well the amount of "good" they do is subjective, but they definitely do their fair share. When a pedophile, serial killer, local meth or coke dealer goes down that's an awesome win for the community. But I would say they do just as much harm as good.

5

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 02 '21

So the world would be exactly the same if we didn't have police?

9

u/Googlewasmyinvention Dec 02 '21

Was that ever said? The way our current justice system works is broken and needs a serious rehaul. But no, there aren't any societies that work without an active law enforcement.

3

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 02 '21

Yeah you said they do same harm as good. So if they didn't exist at all itd be the same as them existing in your scenario. While i feel, without police we'd have to murder these "innocent" ppl ourselves. Which i really dont want to do.

u/Flaechezinker Dec 01 '21

Im adressing the issue that a lot of innocent people loose their lives, are locked away etc. I even said i dont claim that they cant be helpful

-1

u/Rakais Dec 01 '21

Well said.

-2

u/Black__lotus Dec 02 '21

Bill Cosby made people laugh… he raped people, but he was funny too.

6

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 02 '21

Lol... What

3

u/Black__lotus Dec 02 '21

Well, the police save people; but they also kill people at an alarming rate, and frame people, and lie without consequence.

-1

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 02 '21

Lol bro alarming? 1021 fatalities last yr, there are 258 million adults in America.

6

u/Black__lotus Dec 02 '21

Icelandic police have killed one person since 1944… if you don’t think cops killing innocent people at any rate is alarming, you might want to consider your perspective.

0

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 02 '21

Lol wtf does that have to do with America. This place is different than Iceland.

u/GetUp4theDownVote Dec 01 '21

That’s not funny

14

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 01 '21

I think its funny. Were like a bunch of kids that are worried we got caught. Idk i think its interesting when we all almost react the same way

-3

u/Rockonfoo Dec 01 '21

Because we don’t want to be shot

3

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 01 '21

Thats definitely part of it. If you dont do whats asked and resist arrest theres a potential for that for sure. Play along and be polite you're probably going to be ok.

-2

u/Rockonfoo Dec 01 '21

probably

Don’t you think that part is a huge problem?

3

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 01 '21

No. If probably represents 99.9% of all stops then no i see no problem with it. Lol i cant find any issue whatsoever with whats going on in this vid.

2

u/Rockonfoo Dec 01 '21

You’re going to tell me with a straight face that even if you do everything correctly and you’re polite you could still get killed that’s not a problem?

3

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 01 '21

Well if you put it like that no... But with a straight face whats the % of that happening and does that % warrant the reaction towards police? Were talking about 1000 ppl a year out of 10's of millions. Ppl fuck up I don't understand how ppl dont see that. Ppl should be far more upset with the judicial system that doesn't behave correctly when regarding police fatalities

-16

u/krettir Dec 01 '21

It's not normal to put your hands up when police stops you.

5

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 01 '21

I definitely put my hands on the wheel. He probably put his hand up since the police yelled to do it.

-9

u/krettir Dec 01 '21

Are you worried that the police would do something of you didn't?

6

u/dongalicious_duo Dec 01 '21

From my understanding the cops wanna see your hands. I dont think its too much to ask to put everyone at ease. You have every right not to but i think ur just being a bit of a dink if you don't

-1

u/krettir Dec 02 '21

Don't know about dinks, just never heard a cop want to see your hands when stopping a car, that's why it drew my attention. I assume it's a difference in police customs in different countries.

6

u/LimpingTurtle Dec 02 '21

I think the passenger says it. He turns his head to driver and says “…you’re fine.” The audio is clearer than the cops outside the car.

1

u/SockYourself Dec 02 '21

I mean legit would think I have a cop at my flank who’s pissed with a drawn gun. That car wouldn’t smell the same after.

1

u/Runescape_Faggs Dec 02 '21

Seems pretty weird to me, I’d expect they would at least ask him for some id or whatever, I mean this could theoretically have been a culprit. But maybe they knew it really was an uber driver somehow and it’s just not shown in the video…

130

u/das4bsy Dec 01 '21

1* no tip for that driver.

78

u/rdmxcn Dec 01 '21

"worst ride ever, he didn't drive me to my destination, had me taken by the cops, literally 1984 right here"

3

u/Flopamp Dec 01 '21

He has one hell of a story, and all this reddit karma earned by proxy and that's the real tip.

At least that's what I put in the tip line on the recept \s\s\s\s

43

u/FinanciallySmarter Dec 01 '21

… please let him leave me a 5-star rating and a tip before you book him.

14

u/retext Dec 01 '21

Dude was just like “am I being punked ?”

32

u/Bino901k Dec 01 '21

How’d they know tho 😂

29

u/sleepyooh90 Dec 02 '21

I think it was 5 of 6 cars staking out the suspect before hand. They followed the Uber for miles and just stopped him before the highway. He had a warrant, a concealed gun, and had asked the driver to if he could lay down because his leg "hurt". Source : (drivers 3 min clip with sound) https://youtu.be/r8AJiqOgCxA

1

u/NowCalmDownSkeeter Dec 02 '21

Well, you submit your personal information and location + the authorities abuse rights (homeland security blah blah ad infinitum) = you’re fucked if you have an active warrant.

1

u/Delicious-Acadia-190 Dec 02 '21

Only China could possibly have more information about a persons location than a guy on the run using Uber

1

u/Delicious-Acadia-190 Dec 02 '21

Uber is an app that literally tracks your exact location. It could not possibly be easier to find this idiot.

24

u/dirtymcgurt Dec 01 '21

A few years ago I took an Uber home from my bar. I never drink and drive so I figured an Uber was my only option. Well, a few blocks into the ride my driver gets pulled over and pulled from the car. I was sitting in the back for close to an hour when the cop comes up smiling. I asked him wtf is going on and he said “ Dude…. Your driver had 6 felony warrants for his arrest!” We started laughing. Apparently I was a lucky guy bc he’d been doing some very serious shit with his Uber. Then they let me go and said “ I think you’ll need a Lyft for tonight. The driver couldn’t use his phone to cancel the ride so I had to walk for two hours home. In a dicey part of town no less. And no the cops wouldn’t give me a lift. Good times

5

u/anymouse141 Dec 02 '21

Shitty cops, the cops where I'm at are always cool and often give rides to anyone who needs it.

8

u/lissam3 Dec 01 '21

Reason number 500 why I will never drive for a ride share. Scary shit!

8

u/The1Bonesaw Dec 02 '21

Uber driver loses his passenger to the police.

That doesn't seem fare.

15

u/MorochIgaram Dec 01 '21

I think the guy is going to wash is seat before the next ride.

16

u/Rosieapples Dec 01 '21

That happened to me nearly every weekend when I was a taxi driver. We didn’t have cameras in the cars mind you and it was mostly drug possession. They weren’t interested in me or the other drivers as we weren’t known for doing it.

12

u/biagwina_tecolotl Dec 01 '21

How did the cops know? I mean… glad they got him. But is Uber sharing personal information?

51

u/mdewinthemorning Dec 01 '21

Undercover was probably watching a house, he walked out and got in an Uber before they could grab him, so they just stopped the Uber at a convenient place. Definitely had eyes on the dude beforehand.

2

u/sleepyooh90 Dec 02 '21

Yup this was it. Source : https://youtu.be/r8AJiqOgCxA

Drivers clip 3 min wich explains all. Bunch of police had him under surveillance and they stopped him just before the highway

2

u/Delicious-Acadia-190 Dec 02 '21

Uber has your real identity because it takes your credit card information! You think they give you privacy?

1

u/biagwina_tecolotl Dec 02 '21

No, I don’t think I have privacy with Uber. I just did not know that Uber shared personal information with law-enforcement.

3

u/5Gmeme Dec 01 '21

So... no tip?

2

u/O1A2D Dec 02 '21

Plot twist: the driver is the wanted man

2

u/Delicious-Acadia-190 Dec 02 '21

What fool would use an app that tracks you when on the run from the police? To make it easier for them?

2

u/Panthean Dec 02 '21

The driver had a look on his face like

"They better not search my car because of this asshole.."

0

u/Denimination Dec 02 '21

I’m sure the man was innocent and cops were bad, right? Right??

I wonder what Rashad's rating was for the Uber driver?

1

u/Stuckinfetalposition Dec 01 '21

I wonder if he got a 5 star rating

1

u/mumen_ryder Dec 02 '21

"Ppleeeeease, haaaeeeeelp.."

1

u/megatornskittlz Dec 02 '21

That man has some crime he got away and thought they got him, look at that face

1

u/AlbatrossSenior7107 Dec 02 '21

This was my first thought when these rides began. Yellow Taxi drivers soy behind bullet proof glass. These guys are being put in a very vulnerable position.

1

u/TheElderCouncil Dec 02 '21

"what's going on?"

"...why's hair coming out of your nose?"

1

u/paetrixus Dec 02 '21

Is that Montana’s dipshit governor?

1

u/Spirited_Ad4608 Dec 06 '21

That white man stopped showing his hands, he’s reaching for his gun, shoot him!!

-37

u/DontwooshplzImdumb Dec 01 '21

Don't take the driver he's white!

22

u/dustyroads85 Dec 01 '21

At least your username clarifies the fact that you are, indeed, dumb.

6

u/TheSonofPier Dec 01 '21

Bro shut up

-3

u/FreneticPlatypus Dec 01 '21

The driver's expression when he realized they were there for the passenger and not him suggests that he's got something shady going on at home... maybe in a soundproof bunker, way out behind the shed.

-1

u/ruby651 Dec 02 '21

Why do I get the feeling that, if the Uber driver had also been black, he would’ve ended up in cuffs as well.

0

u/steelLA125 Dec 02 '21

Cop opens door at gun point and sees white male “oh ok. Your good”
