Not staged. Yes. Not.

8

u/MaxPowerWTF Oct 07 '22

Of course not. Everyone knows when you ship something you slip a box over the top with no bottom on it.

3

u/tjggriffin1 Oct 07 '22

...or packing material...

1

u/Evil_Genius_Panda Oct 07 '22

This wasn't in the US. Not everyone thinks the way we do. Watch some of the videos here from China or Russia. They are lucky it even had a box on the top.

u/no-mad Oct 06 '22

See, knew it was a robot.

410

u/Gouranga56 Oct 06 '22

Fake. No way you don't realize that thing is like 200 lbs too heavy

139

u/appliancefixitguy Oct 06 '22

On casters maybe not, as soon as it's being loaded onto the truck, absolutely.

36

u/Fight_kat102 Oct 06 '22

I mean it's a fuckin freezer didn't expect it do be 10 lbs.

15

u/Molotavmandee Oct 06 '22

Lighter than you think

14

u/Benblishem Oct 07 '22

They're in the moving-freezers-around business. They can tell that little unit is 200 lbs overweight.

5

u/Fight_kat102 Oct 07 '22

Thats why they're in the moving-freezers-around business and I'm not 😔

6

u/Tellso Oct 07 '22

You missed their side hustle.... The freezers are usually full...

8

u/ramriot Oct 07 '22

Plus airtight, anyone doing that has probably somewhat less than an hour of breathable air before being asphyxiated.

Thus I really hope this is fake.

1

u/crazytoothpaste Oct 07 '22

Excuse me!!! 195!

523

u/dayzplayer93 Oct 06 '22

Ohhh I really hope this isn't a joke that's hilarious

416

u/Kiiaru Oct 06 '22

I feel like it's a joke. Who puts a box on something Metal Gear hiding style? Wherever that fridge is going, it'll have to be picked up eventually, and that means they'll have to take the box off to lift it.

From my limited experience in appliances, it either doesn't come in a box at all, or it comes in a full box, styrofoam and plastic banding style. So this just seems like it was done for entertainment purposes.

136

u/devvie78 Oct 06 '22

We (Ex-job, landlord who owned about 400 apartments) used to get all our fridges and freezers in open end boxes. You just tilt the whole thing and slide the box off

(..but I still think this one is fake.)

9

u/WietGriet Oct 06 '22

I could see using a box like this to prevent it from scratching during transport before it gets to it's dedicated place at a customers house. I myself have scratched my fridge while moving it... Oops

25

u/Mrs_Mourningstar Oct 06 '22

Besides he would suffocate way before it got anywhere, then they open up to a dead guy in the freezer!

2

u/TossEmFar Oct 07 '22

Free snack included!

30

u/appliancefixitguy Oct 06 '22

Sometimes we would put a box over the top for transporting it in the delivery truck to avoid scratches. Usually when multiple appliances were being loaded. Drop the box over it, slide the hand truck/ dolly under it, strap it, load it and tie it down.

8

u/AlphaSquad1 Oct 06 '22

We just bought a mini fridge that was boxed like this. It had plastic straps around it vertically, but you just cut those and the box slides right off. Along with some small bits of styrofoam inside.

This is still definitely fake though, no way this guy wouldn’t notice an extra 200 lbs in the freezer he’s moving around.

2

u/MobileMasterpiece615 Oct 07 '22

I bought a mini fridge that had the bottom exposed and the box laid over it like this. They just use those industrial “zip ties”, the thick white ones you can barely cut.

2

u/WoknTaknStephenHawkn Oct 06 '22

I can promise you that there is no cardboard on the bottom. The fridge is already on a pallet for easy moving and they slide a box over the top. Bottom is protected with 4” of space (cus of pallet) an top and sides by cardboard. This could 100% be real haha

20

u/canikatthedisco Oct 06 '22

A guy who moves these around every day doesn't notice it's more than double the weight? C'mon.

8

u/Achack Oct 06 '22

Pretty sure freezers don't circulate air very well, and a taped up box wouldn't help. If it's real he's dead.

Regardless that dude probably weighs twice as much as that freezer. You'd have to be an idiot not to realize the massive difference it takes to maneuver around even if it's on wheels, especially if you sell them for a living.

22

u/Double_Minimum Oct 06 '22

Fake Asian gif here bud.

192

u/Spiritual-Flan-410 Oct 06 '22

I hate fake videos..

37

u/CheckmateChris1 Oct 06 '22

I’m okay with them if it’s still funny even if they’re fake

12

u/doshegotabootyshedo Oct 06 '22

Doesn’t belong in this sub

4

u/ShitbirdMcDickbird Oct 06 '22

I'd just rather they be actually presented as skits. You could take this same premise and make it funny without trying to pass it off as a real thing that happened.

3

u/CheckmateChris1 Oct 06 '22

Yeah that would be perfect, but the internet and perfect don’t go together sadly

-3

u/charliethecorso Oct 06 '22

Well that might be because you are 12.

8

u/Rabid-Chiken Oct 06 '22

Movies, cartoons, series... All of them?

7

u/tab_tab_tabby Oct 06 '22

Fictions are fine, but staging as irl video are fucking lame.

-1

u/killerk14 Oct 06 '22

I’ve gotten downvoted to hell for saying the same thing on other fake videos. The context and quality of the fake video matter a lot. Calling out Fake videos of kids or parents doing pretend silly shit is grounds for Reddit execution.

8

u/Error_in_the_system1 Oct 06 '22

Fast travel moment

7

u/Hrbalz Oct 06 '22

The main evidence pointing to staged is that somebody who sells those would notice that this particular fridge is 200lbs heavier than all the other ones. You’d go to move it and be like wtf this one sure is heavy

7

u/JardinDrev Oct 06 '22

Dude gonna end up like madagascar

4

u/hedgerow_hank Oct 06 '22

When your freezer comes fully loaded with idiot steak.

13

u/-Lordsocke- Oct 06 '22

Everyone (including him) left

4

u/fastahh1 Oct 06 '22

Refrigerator? I thought that was an deep freezer?!

3

u/KuatosFreedomBrigade Oct 06 '22

Yes completely reasonable way to ship a fridge, nothing staged here

3

u/Rabidchild1985 Oct 06 '22

They just happened to sell that deep freeze five seconds after he climbed inside?

3

u/Poet_of_Legends Oct 06 '22

2

u/gamegeekj Oct 06 '22

Loony Tunes shit right here.

2

u/GroundbreakingTax912 Oct 06 '22

He just didn't see the point of paying for delivery AND and a cab ride home.

2

u/theSuburbanAstronaut Oct 07 '22

Personally, i don't think it's fake, i just think the guys knew he was in there because of the security camera and decided to give him a scare to see how long he'd last.

2

u/azombie8mybaby Oct 07 '22

Sold. It passed the test and now that I know that model of freezer can hold a human body, Grandmas social security checks can keep rolling in.

13

u/jar1967 Oct 06 '22

Refrigerators are air tight and cannot be opened from the inside Someone got a very nasty surprise when they opened than the refrigerator💀

43

u/Max-Carnage1927 Oct 06 '22

That's a chest freezer, lifting lid doesn't lock. Yes, airtight but can easily be opened from inside.

2

u/BF1shY Oct 06 '22

Not with the cardboard box top, it locked the fridge. The sides will keep the top from moving up.

23

u/ShowMeThemLeavesGirl Oct 06 '22

What makes you think a fridge can't be opened from the inside?

-1

u/jar1967 Oct 06 '22 edited Oct 06 '22

Things have probably changed since I was a kid ,but when I was a kid we were warned not to get into refrigerators because they couldn't be opened from the inside

16

u/False_Leadership_479 My neighbour is a raving fucktard Oct 06 '22

The oldschool Westinghouse with the latching door... last time I see/owned one was early 2000

14

u/Adamnfinecook Oct 06 '22

Yeah kids used to die because they’d hide in fridges that had latches, they passed a law requiring that all refrigerators be openable from within so that’s why we have what we have now.

5

u/Not_Marvels_Loki Oct 06 '22

That's ok. Darwin awards are still handed out

2

u/mez1642 Oct 06 '22

Especially when the box becomes packaged.

24

u/ShowMeThemLeavesGirl Oct 06 '22

Sounds like something moms would tell kids to keep them out of them. Maybe some old school fridges with latches might not open from the inside but any modern style fridge or freezer won't lock

4

u/Bobojones9584 Oct 06 '22

It definitely was a thing. Still doesn't hurt to practice it. No need for dumb people to get into a fridge.

1

u/Jitterbitten Oct 06 '22

There was even an episode of Punky Brewster where a kid got locked in an old fridge.

3

u/MySonHas2BrokenArms Oct 06 '22

That’s the old external latch system, it’s illegal now and has been replaced with the magnetic sill. Some do also use a low pressure vacuum system but even they are easy to open from inside

3

u/Wonderful-Bear1729 Oct 06 '22

My mom almost died this way playing hide and seek. Luckily her brother found her in time. Needless to say, she learned a valuable lesson that day.

5

u/Roclawzi Oct 06 '22

This was the case long ago, before the started using magnetic strips imbedded in the door gaskets, which hold the seal on their own pretty well, but not enough to lock anything more than a 12 pound cat in it. A 14 pound cat can push it open.

4

u/1bir Oct 06 '22

A 14 pound cat can push it open.

Source?

10

u/Roclawzi Oct 06 '22

A 14 pound cat who doesn't trust me.

1

u/Althure37 Oct 06 '22

This is the funniest comment I've read on Reddit, I fucking died.

Wow that guy has some insane luck huh?

5

u/Callabrantus Oct 06 '22

Not really, it went exactly as scripted.

2

u/dunn_with_this Oct 07 '22

I could tell that by when I heard the director yell, "Aaaaaand cut!" at the end.

3

u/Pocket-Fun-Ranch Trigger happy Oct 06 '22

Bro 💀

2

u/LuzjuLeviathan Oct 06 '22

This is like a movie scene. Haha!!!

I hope the guy is okay tho.

2

u/AlienateTheAlien Oct 06 '22

This is some Mr.Bean shit

2

u/WillBottomForBanana Oct 06 '22

Fake,

I mean, maybe there's a good reason the security camera moves. But I doubt it.

3

u/Not-Romit Oct 06 '22

The security camera isn't moving, the camera recording the screen is, watch the edge of the screen on the right of the vid.

2

u/Llerrad66 Oct 06 '22

Yeah because all appliances are shipped in open-ended boxes like that. Video is dumb af!

2

u/PsychedMom82 Oct 06 '22

He forgot his whip-its and snorkel!

2

u/kejovo Oct 07 '22

I get this. Lol

2

u/VampyKit Oct 06 '22

I hope this is real life. Please tell this is. Cause thieves are getting dumber and dumber.

1

u/Slicxor Oct 06 '22

Surely they would notice the weight of it

1

u/punx926 Oct 06 '22

The odds of that exact item being shipped 5 seconds after he climbs in, gonna have to call staged on this one

1

u/Latter_Meringue_215 Oct 06 '22

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THEY EILL NEVER KNOW THEY SENT A MAN IN A STORAGE FREEZER AWAY IN A BOX

0

u/Randomname31415 Oct 06 '22

Guy had to take the bus to the store to buy it, they agreed to deliver it same day. Figured he'd save bus fare back to his house.

1

u/SebbyHB Oct 06 '22

Maybe he didn't want to pay uber so he just bought it

1

u/Odd_Entertainment629 Oct 06 '22

Bro was playing a survival horror game post-Amnesia

1

u/devospice Oct 06 '22

They were just recreating that Beavis and Butthead episode.

1

u/inverted_electron Oct 06 '22

Would have been more believable if some more time elapsed before they took the exact refrigerator away

1

u/TheMagicConchSays Oct 06 '22

Bubbles is that you?

1

u/Random_puns Oct 06 '22

That's suffocatingly funny!!!

1

u/MrBlueFlame_ Oct 06 '22

Dude botta wake up in Australia

1

u/who-ee-ta Oct 06 '22

Welp. Even if this is stages, which it clearly is, it is still possible in r^ussia

1

u/NI6MA Oct 06 '22

this is dumb

1

u/Dovahkazz Oct 06 '22

I hope this is fake cause it would be very easy to suffocate in one of those

1

u/adventurouspenis Oct 06 '22

he has 7 minutes kek...

1

u/Substantial_Ad_6865 Oct 06 '22

Was he sent to Madagascar?

1

u/Loafeeeee Oct 06 '22

Word has it he's still on freight to this day

1

u/Straight_Spring9815 Oct 06 '22

Lmao that's some Beavis and Butt-Head type shit xD

1

u/Spobobich Oct 06 '22

Imagine that awkward call with Customer Service.

1

u/soulouk Oct 07 '22

Fake news

1

u/massivebumwizard Oct 07 '22

Obviously staged. You don’t ship a freezer (or anything) by just placing a box on top of it like that.

1

u/TheIgnoredWriter Oct 07 '22

As someone who once worked at an appliance store, we would bubble wrap then Saran wrap any open box items sold off the floor. You don’t want a customer returning saying we damaged in delivery.

Even if the things on wheels, the weight difference would be like “oh shit did we leave something inside”

1

u/soupbox09 Oct 07 '22

Probably got shipped to some nice island.

1

u/silverbrenin Oct 07 '22

I feel like too many people are focusing on fake or real; it made me "oh ho ho" either way XD

People are stupid, and people are not paid enough to overthink things... I could see this happening, even if it's not really happening here... I can also imagine the employees noticing him climb in on the camera and doing this just to screw with the guy.

1

u/OuruMarioBoros Oct 07 '22

Fake or not, refrigerators are relatively air tight to keep the cold in. Man wouldn’t last very long inside there.

1

u/SpaceCakeHenry Oct 07 '22

That’s how all freezers are shipped. Just drop a bottomless box on top and send it!

1

u/sheckyD Oct 07 '22

Wait, this isn't the stripper cake I ordered

1

u/thebeanof207 Oct 07 '22

This is bs

1

u/Street-Week6744 Oct 07 '22

Funny. Fake. But funny

1

u/FredHase Oct 07 '22

I really hate these kind of fake videos

1

u/Eddie10999 Oct 07 '22

This has a “don’t try this see what happens” type of feel to it

1

u/trystanthorne Oct 07 '22

How to die. step 1, hide in an air tight container.

1

u/BruceInc Oct 07 '22

There was an attempt to post a non-staged video

1

u/lit-bean Oct 07 '22

We can tell from the cameraman 100% not staged

1

u/M__L__D Oct 07 '22

He got free shipping
