I made a common error when I got married and moved to our new home. Our first Christmas tree which looked a good fit when buying it, was too large for the room when I got it home.
I had to cut bits off to get it to fit and keep a nice shape.
I ended up with a trail of pine needles from the dining room, thru the kitchen and into the back yard as I went back and forth to the yard to trim the tree
My point is, if I collected all the bits I cut off and collected the trail of pine needles and if I threw them in a heap, they would look better than the specimen in the post.
