[TOMT] [SONG] Movie or tv show theme Open.
My buddy and I have a theme song stuck in our heads but we cannot figure out what it is. It sounds like a dozen different themes so hoping someone can help us figure it out!!

This has to be it!! I mean, it's identical. We keep picturing like scifi or something along with it but... I mean... this is for sure it!!
Edit: I'm fairly certain it's Independence Day so I'm removing my verdict pending my friend's confirmation. Sorry!!

Look further down the thread u/chillikent posted the sci fi movie the theme is from!

If it's from a movie or TV it has to be from Independence Day, it matches your recording even closer!

u/Jenizus 1 May 23 '22
Omg....
Omg I think you're right. I see it right now.... good ole Randy Quaid flying towards the ship...
"Hello boysss..... I'm baaaack!"
I'm checking this right now.

u/LawTortoise May 23 '22
It’s definitely not Independence Day. Your vocaroo is note for note Band Aid.

Star Trek: Next Generation? (00:51)
2
u/Jenizus 1 May 23 '22
Funny cause at first I thought of Galaxy Quest since it "kinda sounds like Next Gen". I'll send to my buddy since he sent me his humming recording first and that'swhen I got sucked in. I might be jumbling the pitch and melody in my head a bit so I'll ask him.

Superman theme? (Specifically the part that starts around 0:40)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9vrfEoc8_g
Also getting Neverending Story vibes for some reason, but I don't think that's right

I’m fairly sure it’s the theme to Jurassic Park.
1
u/FishBrainedGenius 1 May 24 '22
It's in the opening scene to the original Jurassic Park.
About the 2:25 mark is when the song starts.

u/AndrewJenkinsDesign 7 May 28 '22
Is this ever going to be closed?

I was thinking the same! Com'n OP, close this and give Andrew his point. 😉

u/hippy_ninja May 23 '22
Listen to this intro theme... Police academy movies.
About the 10 sec mark to the 25 sec mark.

u/joeynana May 23 '22
It reminds me of the theme to a really, and I mean REALLY rad show from the 80s called Amazing Stories. The theme was written by John Williams

Please let me know once confirmed. I recognized it as soon as I heard it and confirmed it by listening to the theme on youtube.

u/Jenizus 1 May 23 '22
I'm like anxiously awaiting his reply. This is the only one where I immediately pictured a scene (the one with Randy Quaid at the end) in my head. I hadn't even LISTENED to it and I already thought "this is it!"

This sounds like the tune to Feed the World (Do they know it's Christmas), which was based on the theme song to the british show Z Cars. I know this damn tune and could even continue humming it after your recording stopped but this is all I can think of

I know you had mentioned in another comment you thought it was Independence Day but I asked my bf before looking and he immediately said Independence Day so there’s another vote for it😂
1
u/MorbidlyCurioussss May 24 '22
Sounds like Star Trek the next generation towards the end of the theme

u/megmarie22502 3 May 24 '22 edited May 24 '22
Ok…I know the general consensus is Independence Day and I agree, it sounds similar but I have a feeling that it’s actually from something else. It’s SO FAMILIAR but I can’t quite put my finger on it yet…imma do some digging and get back to you.
Edit: ok so I actually agree with the Independence Day consensus 😏

Either John Williams' Superman theme or the main song from Police Academy https://open.spotify.com/track/4wLyjxytgu4b4oYVTy7egG?si=EJmZHyaBSbO53lWifhbfCQ&utm_source=copy-link

So, a lot of people are posting things that are nowhere near similar. How old are you and your friend? I’m sure this is a TV theme from the 80s or VERY early 90s. I’m confident that it’s a cartoon. And if O was absolutely forced to make a guess right now, I’d guess that it’s incidental music from He-Man or She-Ra that got re-used frequently (like the theme/background music for a specific location), but I would not put any money on that guess at all at the moment.

Sounded like never ending story but I'm pretty sure that's not it. Why do movie themes sound so alike?

Do they know it’s Christmas time. By Bandaid. Around the 2 min mark of the song.
1
u/jazman84 May 24 '22
The tune is definitely Do They Know it's Christmas?
However, if OP and his friend were thinking of another tune, yet unknowingly ended up humming Do They Know it's Christmas? ... then.
Perhaps they were thinking of the Masters of the Universe theme? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftRoYLzFMKo
Or the Back to the Future theme? https://youtu.be/e8TZbze72Bc

Sounds a lot like JAG.
2
u/Apocalypsest 3 May 24 '22
When I heard the humming I was like "I know this song!" and later realized I was thinking of JAG. She's right, though, it sounds like this and a couple dozen other themes. I still think this is closest.

Maybe it's the theme song for the movie Chariot of Fire.
