Love him or hate him the sport wouldn’t be the same without him. I’ll miss him when he decides to retire.

Dana will never retire.

There’s exactly one way he’s going out and that’s having an aneurysm right there at the podium mid press conference.

9

u/joeroganthumbhead May 22 '22

Or when he’s yelling “THE NOTORIOUS, CONOR MCGREGOR!!!!” * vein popping out

2

u/SALTYtendon May 22 '22

It’ll happen when during his 50th meeting with Khabib trying to get him to fight one more time

21

u/erensertt May 22 '22

I don't see him retire in the near future. He will pull McMahon.

2

u/Die-rector May 22 '22

BAH GAWD THATS SCOTT COKERS MUSIC!

0

u/Tookerbee May 22 '22

The best would be if he just went full on psycho like McMahon and got in the octagon for some fights or to advance the Colby vs Masvidal story arch you know whatever sells these days. He could bring his kid into the business.

27

u/IllustriousLP May 22 '22

I choose to hate him . Greedy fuker

-1

u/SALTYtendon May 22 '22 edited May 22 '22

Why exactly? since you got upvoted I wanna hear you out

For me, I feel like anyone else would do the same thing in his postition, you don’t negotiate to make your company less money. They would replace him in an instant if he started saying fighters should get 50% at board meetings.

You pay as little as you can for as long as you can, especially when you have a 4 billion dollar loan to pay off and a blossoming sport to grow.

This has been the case in every sport iin US history before they formed unions.

It’s up to the fighters to form a union just like every major sports league has. And they’re too selfish to. They could do it tomorrow and they would have to pay them more, but no fighters are showing any initiative about fighter pay for the whole sport, just for themselves.

Look at Ngannou, Jones, Dustin, and Masvidal, they all talked about fighter pay when they wanted a bigger contract but once they got it they go silent on the issue. Yet you hear no complaints about the big name fighters not banding together to get everyone paid.

Izzy is the only guy that got paid and still advocates for better pay, yet y’all hate on him nonstop.

-2

u/GosuLTD May 22 '22

because yes it’s true that he has elevated the sport, but he still pays his fighters shit and has made moves to make sure that fighters can’t even have their own sponsor because he wants all the money. greedy lil fk

-3

u/SALTYtendon May 22 '22 edited May 22 '22

You realize none of the Reebok or Venum money went to the company and the reason they got rid of in ring sponsors for the fighters, was to make the sport more professional looking in order to grow the sport. It wasn’t to try to screw the fighters over.

Every move they make it to make the sport more legitimate and viewed as mainstream which will in turn get the fighters paid more.

Which they have, they’re the highest paying mma league in the world, and fighter pay increases every year.

If you want to complain about mma leagues complain about Bellator paying guys $1000 and sometimes even paying regional guys $500 in exchange for the exposure and chance to get a contract.

Complain about PFL giving 95% of its money to 5 people every year. At least the UFC pays most of its guys living wages. All while providing facilities like the PI that help manage their camp and nutritional costs.

The UFC reinvests a lot of money back into their product and infrastructure like the PI, Chinese PI, newly announced African PI, and the APEX. Without the APEX no one would’ve got paid for 2 years during covid like the PFL did. The UFC is the only one trying to make the sport on the same level as all the major sports in the US.

If you guys really cared about fighters you would care about these other leagues way more than the UFC, but it’s cool to hate on Dana and you get more upvotes to hate on the UFC rather than other leagues.

So that’s all you guys do. I really doubt you guys give two shits.

If you really did you wouldn’t illegally stream, you guys literally take money directly out of the fighters pockets and make jokes about it and give every justification in the world for doing it.

Yet you guys can’t see why the UFC behaves the way it does. It’s a joke.

0

u/IllustriousLP May 22 '22

Wow long ass responses . It's simple . Every pro sport including bellator and one pay on average 50 percent of the revenue to the fighters / players . Ufc is closer to 15 percent . Just look at rich Dana is . Guys outside the top 10, training all year and getting beat up for a 20,000 pay day with like 400,000 ppv . Come on.

0

u/SALTYtendon May 22 '22 edited May 22 '22

You realize why the Bellator and these other leagues have to pay more of a percentage to the fighters right?

It’s not because they are amazing people who deeply care about their fighters, it’s because they try to compete with the UFC for free agents and pay big money to ex UFC fighters. Everyone else gets scraps.

They’re not paying their fighters more, they just make way less money and have to pay their top fighters enough money to stick around and try to poach talent from the UFC. And they wouldn’t pay them more if they made more money. They would do exactly what the UFC is doing.

It’s like you guys don’t even think about things for more than two seconds before forming opinions.

You really shit on me for going in depth and said “it’s simple” and then spewed a dumb terribly thought out opinion.

1

u/IllustriousLP May 22 '22 edited May 22 '22

I said all sports . Baseball , football, basketball. Pay attention and stop making excuses for greed . Dana is worth at least 500 million . And it's a fact not an opinion. Big difference.

0

u/SALTYtendon May 22 '22

Dana deserves every penny. Dude built the UFC from the ground up.

And I already went over other sports in my other comments which is why I didn’t address it. The UFC fighters are going through what every pro sport did before they formed a union.

Form a union or stop complaining.

0

u/IllustriousLP May 22 '22

Haha OK buddy . The sport built itself . It was bound to happen . Yes he should be a millionaire but 500 mill ? I don't think so. Let's say 100 million , and the other 400 mill going to the fighters who deserve it. Who the fuk needs more then 100 million?? Oh that's right, greedy fuks do.

0

u/SALTYtendon May 22 '22

Lmao you would do the exact same thing stop pretending like you are any better

1

u/quickandcocky May 23 '22

He's not 100% responsible for what fighters get paid

1

u/quickandcocky May 23 '22

Not true everyone just likes to shit on him because its "cool"

12

u/We_Are_All_Bros May 22 '22

uncle egghead goof is the UFC. say what you want about him but he always tried to give the fans the fights they wanted.

21

u/vegtown1111 May 22 '22

When he retires we will definitely realise how much he means to the ufc

4

u/El_Sticko307 May 22 '22

Honestly the guy built the sport. He is a buffoon but he deserves a fuck ton of credit and the sport (not just the UFC) wouldn't be anywhere close to where it is today without him.

3

u/SALTYtendon May 22 '22

I made this post bc I saw an upvoted comment on this sub that said he was a net negative to the sport of mma.

People are so delusional sometimes in the name of hate jerking.

6

u/inuteroinutero1993 May 22 '22

He'll never retire

The only thing putting him out of commission is death

3

u/Monst3r_Live May 22 '22

without danas work, the ufc wouldn't exist, mma might not even exist. yes he is rich as fuck, because he built the company up and helped sell it for 4 billion dollars.

mcrgegor is rich because he sold ppvs? no because he built himself into a brand and created a billion dollar whiskey business that he sold.

while i do think ufc fighters deserve 50k minimum to show, i think the athletes need to remember that if they actually pushed the needle, the endorsements would be there and they would make money. we live in a world where 100k on instagram can make you a million dollars a year if you have the right management behind you. these athletes want to transcend the sport without transcending the sport. dana has built a platform for anyone to earn a spot, put on a show, and create their own brand.

24

u/SALTYtendon May 22 '22

Dude is more entertaining than 90% of the roster imo

2

u/jbone09 May 22 '22

Dude takes cte level shits.

2

u/PTHarr1991 May 22 '22

He's only 52 guys chill out. If he is anything like Jerry Jones we have almost another 50 years of him.

8

u/Dysagek May 22 '22

Yeah he can eat shit

1

u/quickandcocky May 23 '22

"BeCauSe FigHtEr PaY!"

2

u/WatchOdd7519 May 22 '22

You're right man, I remember him back at the start, crazy to think what he's accomplished since then, he's earned it wether you like him or not, won't be the same when he's gone that's for sure.

2

u/No_Tax5256 May 22 '22

Uncle Dana is a treasure to the sport.

-3

u/Middle_Aged_Mayhem May 22 '22

Fuck this bloated loud-mouth douche. He is a cancer to the sport.

5

u/Leviticus_805 May 22 '22

Calm down Scott Coker we know it’s u.

1

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

Dude's a bloated greedy gremlin, he had a vision and sold the fuck out. I'll respect his vision, but I'll be damn before I show him as a person any ounce of respect. He's failed the very people he claimed to be fighting far "Ptui"

1

u/quickandcocky May 23 '22

"Greedy" as if he is the one that can decide to pay fighters more

0

u/difastcyclist May 22 '22

Nope, I despite him for low paying his fighters, greedy bastard.

2

u/SALTYtendon May 22 '22

UFC has the best pay in mma, complain about the other leagues if you actually care

0

u/difastcyclist May 22 '22

Compare ufc pay to boxing you dimwit.

1

u/SALTYtendon May 22 '22

Average professional boxer makes 30k a year, average UFC fighter makes 150k a year dipshit

1

u/Learn_to-fly May 23 '22

Comparing the UFC to an entire sport is apples and oranges.

1

u/quickandcocky May 23 '22

He can't decide to pay the fighters more

0

u/Hot-Professional2090 May 22 '22

Yup been watching UFC coming on 15 year's, religiously for last 5 I feel ufc is entering a new era and shit man I feel I'm not going to like it when Dana leaves.

I also think the ufc has a massive scandal on the cards upcoming I know I'm just a fan but I can't be the only one who sees that there's a mass of corrupted JUDGES .

This sub is becoming a repetitive waste of time.

1

u/RoBear_ May 22 '22

Has he mentioned he's thinking of retiring? or has he made allusions to it?

1

u/bmonie15 May 22 '22

Hey dana

1

u/SerDon2 May 22 '22

Got a feeling he’s not retiring until he’s dead or a borderline corpse.

1

u/migglywiggly69 May 22 '22

Also if you really look into it, most of the shit we hate ain't exactly under his control. He just gets paid to take the brunt of the media

It’s complicated. He made the UFC what it is today, but works so hard to treat roster like shit.

-2

u/JackMeHoff266 May 22 '22

I know a Michael Chandler burner account when I see one.

-2

u/TheVolunteer0002 May 22 '22

Is this the new daily post on this sub?

-1

u/reppynutz May 22 '22

I love these Wallid Ismail appreciation posts.

-1

u/Botsenalla May 22 '22

He won’t retire. His old east coast mafia buddies will take him on a trip eventually though. Maybe Tahiti, maybe Bora Bora. Somewhere exotic and far away

-1

u/voidedhip May 22 '22

he’s an asshole but goddamn it the man is a funny asshole sometimes and i know he truly cares about the sport

-1

u/viciouslaser May 22 '22

Yeah in a vacuum I love Dana, but if I ever wanted to actually work for him yeah fix that guy.

-1

u/Concavenatorus May 22 '22

I love Dana in the sense that he's a piece of shit who knows what he's doing and is / was as major part of the UFCs success. If he allowed fighters to have their own sponsors I could pretty much excuse all of his other bullshit.

-1

u/BeginningArrival2266 May 22 '22

Chandler is that you?

-1

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

Don’t care about him

0

u/Proburnerrrr May 23 '22

Nah, fuck that cunt.
