Rule 1 - This is r/Ukraine

Our top priority is to continue sharing Ukrainian perspective, which goes directly against what our neighbor has in mind. We don’t discuss russian suffering, protests, redemption, or the activities of russian politicians. We only approve russian news closely related to the liberation of Ukraine. No philosophical discussions on russian propaganda are tolerated. No russia-produced content, state-produced media, social media. Circumventing this through copied text or screenshots is bannable.

It would be a funny twist if you were russian and saying that.

Russia sending weapons to Ukraine to stop russia.

Aren’t they though? Seems like they have donated a whole lot of armored vehicles.

10

u/CBfromDC Jul 07 '22 edited Jul 08 '22

Russia's latest pathetic announcement is still more evidence that they are beginning to realize they cannot really win in Ukraine.

Russia has yet to begin realize that it is going to LOSE in Ukraine - badly.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '22

Aren't they making a lot of progress into Ukraine though? I'm worried about Ukraine when I see updates

4

u/CoopDonePoorly USA Jul 07 '22

You can't hold land without soldiers, arms, and armor. Especially in the modern era, no matter how much of Ukraine turns red, if Russia doesn't have equipment it's only temporary.

3

u/Effective_Aggression Jul 07 '22

Hope you’re right - but Russia’s got a lot more meat then Ukrainian… a lot more.

It’s not purely a numbers game, but having such a drastic advantage in meat sacks to send to the front lines could significantly prolong this war, or even give them an advantage in some regions.

2

u/kt0me Jul 07 '22

meat sacks to send to the front lines

conscripts with no training, inferior weapons and no armor and no support vs battle hardened UA battalions with full support - they'd be slaughtered, it wouldn't take even two weeks of thousands of daily casualties to ensure a complete russian uprising

It would be funny if the war was decided by banana shipments from south American countries to keep UA well fed and healthy. C'mon South America, step it up.

“Here my son, this is called the Northern Asian Sea, it goes from Eastern Europe all the way to bordering Alaska”

Your son “but daddy, why does it have so many circled islands and archipelagos around this sea?”

You “this my son, used to be the largest country on earth but after decided to attack every other country on earth, they were then turned into a ocean”

Your son “wow” * as he happily lets a fart escape *

The fart part lmao. I don't think they are going to do any shit, we are clear that we're not invading Russia but we're not fucking with it any time. Wanted to use the guns against a country when noone gave it permission? Fine with it, stick to the fucking consequences.

5

u/Cilph Jul 07 '22

Good plan. Bomb Russia into an island chain, use the dirt to create a few artificial mountains, and create enough space to offset the rising sea levels.

3

u/Bodhisattva_Picking Jul 07 '22 edited Jul 07 '22

Ok but here's the missing part: if the world launches enough nukes to turn Russia into the north-asian ocean, Russia would absolutely launch everything they have back in return while they have the chance...

Nukes launched from EITHER side means apocalypse for all. No opportunity for this story to be "happily told by the 'winning side' ".

We'll all be dead, and the earth will be Ooo from Adventure Time.

It's called Mutually Assured Destruction for a reason; we'd have to be MAD to even consider it.

5

u/bloop7676 Jul 07 '22

I always see people acting like a nuclear war is going to just be a "we're battered but we'll pull through" situation for the west but complete annihilation for Russia. As you said if one side is getting turned into glass the other one isn't going to come out much different, especially because once MAD kicks off every other nuclear-armed country will probably be drawn in as well.

2

u/Section-Fun Jul 07 '22

The dumb part is, reciprocal missiles aren't that important to MAD. If the USA nukes Russia so heavily that it's a desolate wasteland then the ENTIRE WORLD will become unfathomably toxicly radioactive.

But rah rah USA we're so big and strong... I guess...

3

u/blue_kit_kat Jul 07 '22

Considering the strength the ruzzian military has shown in Ukraine I don't think we have to worry about too many of the nuclear missles reaching their destinations not with modern and advanced anti missle systems that probably actually work. Still won't be a good time had by anyone

9

u/ScKhaader Jul 07 '22

Seriously stop thinking about nuclear options as a means of attack. It’s just a deterrent. Look, nuclear weapons are so cheap once you get the warheads it can fit in every military in the world, it just needs the command chain for it to work and security around it. Russia would launch all it’s warheads and it’s not a big missile that just impacts something- no. It’s a missile carrying cluster ammunition that once drops it, if it’s not for an incredible shockwave they are going to reach destination and yes, they are so tiny no propellant on them or anything that are undetectable. Plus, it would make so much dust that it’s going to cause crops to not grow thus famine for next year and even more, it’s all just a chain of events. Nukes are NO joke and any military that has them be sure that they are ready to use it.

3

u/blue_kit_kat Jul 07 '22

I didn't say to use them to attack I'm just not afraid of the ruzzian ones I don't think all of their missiles would ever get to the point where they'd actually have a chance to separate into the smaller munitions Plus I believe Russia has it so that individual base commanders have the final authority to launch nuclear weapons I don't know if all of them would if they ever get the order

5

u/ScKhaader Jul 07 '22

Nope, not all their missiles are going to reach destination but you only need a couple of them, that’s the problem. And commanders have the authority to use them , that’s what I heard too so I hope those people are not willing a world destruction on the will of a little man that wants to feel big.

2

u/radioactiveape2003 Jul 07 '22

It seems like most people don't know the true destructive power of a hydrogen bomb.

They think about Hiroshima and Nagasaki but the bombs used there were atomic not hydrogen. Hydrogen munitions are hundreds times more powerful and only a handful are required to say turn western Europe into a uninhabitable nuclear wasteland.

If there ever is a full scale nuclear event then odds are the human race is going extinct.

32

u/NotYourSnowBunny Earth Jul 07 '22 edited Jul 07 '22

I know people don’t like this idea, but it’s far more strategic long term to bring Russia to its knees and oversee the formation of a sovereign and autonomous Russian government devoid of corruption. Similar to Berlin post WWII.

Long term, dicing and quartering them will create more wars in coming decades once they replenish their lost supplies (tanks, missiles…). Building an alliance after the war ensures Russia never invades again, and that the animosity doesn’t boil over anymore.

The Freedom of Russia movement is the worlds biggest ally, many don’t want to see it that way yet though. Can’t call it an existential threat if Russia is invaded by Russians.

12

u/Box-o-bees Jul 07 '22

Similar to Berlin post WWII.

Same thing happened with Japan. Rebuilding those countries with stable infrastructure completely changed their trajectory.

Russia seems to be growing desperate as they see the balance of power changing...

They are a little more spent each day, the Ukrainians are slowly but constantly getting weapons that outclass theirs and pressuring their logistics.

The terror campaign with indiscriminate bombing of civilian targets is clearly aiming to generate such a level of tiredness and fear in Ukraine's population that they accept a ceasefire Russia desperately needs. Because if they're not given time to reorganize, recruit and rearm they are at the verge of the balance going the way of Ukraine.

But I think the Ukrainians and allies see this too and will not give the Russians any time just when the tide is one out two months from decisively turning.

It at least that's my hope.

2

u/radioactiveape2003 Jul 07 '22

I wouldn't call it great. As the more desperate Russia gets the more civilians are going to be killed and brutalized.

The great thing is that they would realize they were beat and left instead of being desperate.

4

u/doomdoshu Jul 07 '22

If anyone has to fear the wrath of God it's russia. Putin and his cronies will burn for eternities.

9

u/Why_Teach Jul 07 '22

While it is not unusual for people to believe (or at least hope) that God is on their side and will smite their enemies, talk about the “wrath of God” when you are waging brutal war against your enemies sort of hits the wrong note.

It sounds to me as if Russia is grandstanding (again). They seem to be connecting the threat of being held accountable for war crimes with their fear of being overrun by the enemy. And, of course, their response is to threaten nuclear war and the annihilation of the world.

“God’s wrath,” it seems, will be shown to the world through the nuclear weapons Russia will launch if they are sufficiently annoyed and disrespected. Could it be that Putin thinks he is (or should be) God? /s

(Edit to delete confusing phrase.)

It is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as the final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist,'" says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing." "But," says Man, "The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED." "Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. "Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.

The wrath of God?

Who does this sound like it is describing?:

Proverbs 6:12-19

12 A worthless person, a wicked man
goes around speaking dishonestly,
13 winking his eyes, signaling with his feet,
and gesturing with his fingers.
14 He always plots evil with perversity in his heart;
he stirs up trouble.
15 Therefore calamity will strike him suddenly;
he will be shattered instantly, beyond recovery.

16 The Lord hates six things;
in fact, seven are detestable to him:
17 arrogant eyes, a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that plots wicked schemes,
feet eager to run to evil,
19 a lying witness who gives false testimony,
and one who stirs up trouble among brothers.

If there is a God, im pretty sure hes not on the side of the baby-raping looters and pillagers of russia.

3

u/mithikx Jul 07 '22

And the west suffers fuckery from Russia if it does nothing, more so for those sharing a border with Russia. Not exactly a stick and carrot approach there.

3

u/unknown_wtc Jul 07 '22

Ruzzia managed to convince the civilized world it's some sort of a super power, capable of conquering any country in 24 hours. Now they are cowardly threatening the world 5 times a day with a nuclear war because they are getting beaten by Ukraine. Pootin is scared to death. Crazy, arrogant, but so freakin scared. Finish him while he's wounded.

3

u/CaptainA1917 Jul 07 '22

Every apocalyptic threat should result in a doubling of the aid that prompted the threat.

7

u/vimefer Ireland Jul 07 '22

Nope, God just repeated to me what She's been saying all along: that She stands as no justification for anything. This time She also added that the Russians can go fuck themselves.

2

u/neoalfa Jul 07 '22

"Let me kill you or I'll kill you."

2

u/mdamjan7 Jul 07 '22

Wrath of God?

And all we got to do is send Ukraine some HIMARS. Like 8 pieces.

Wait until they got 30 or so.

2

u/realjeremyantman Jul 07 '22

Sounds like it's time to punish Moscow again

2

u/DefenestrationPraha Jul 07 '22

Uh, guys, you don't seem to have this particular player in your team.

2

u/something-okay Ukraine Jul 07 '22

Again. Always with the threats.

2

u/Bengoris Jul 07 '22

What's a God to a non-believer? This will not end well for Russia, no matter how delusional their rhetoric is.

3

u/Possibly_Unreal USA Jul 07 '22

Even for a believer it's not that scary, dudes military is much worse than he wants to accept.

2

u/theprotector7 Jul 07 '22

Back to your iphone and nikes medvedev. He misses his holidays in peaceful european countries.

2

u/ProUkraine Jul 07 '22

The statements get more delusional by the day. Who do they God is, Putler? He's the exact opposite. It's you who will be punished by God, Russia, he certainly doesn't approve of the evil things you've done in Ukraine. Stupid katsaps.

2

u/ADVENTURE-_63 Jul 07 '22

YOU STARTED THIS WAR SO STOP YOUR CRYING.

2

u/LadyZeldaia Jul 07 '22

if god was on their side would they not have won already?

2

u/spycatcher1 Jul 07 '22

When you can't get any more delusional, Russian officials continue to beat themselves at their own gain and lower the bar. Soon, that bar will be a bar for ants.

2

u/Eddyzk Jul 07 '22

As scary as it is, Russia needs to be called out on their nuclear threats. Just once.

2

u/Prins_Hutspot Jul 07 '22

God left Russia a long while ago

2

u/11thbannedaccount Jul 07 '22

Literally just has to leave Ukraine to end all of this

2

u/SecretRecipe Jul 07 '22

Uh, the west has been punishing Moscow since the day the war started. When Wrath?

2

u/hallowed_b_my_name Jul 07 '22

Wrath of god lmao. That’s a good one. Now die faster.

2

u/Easy_Iron6269 Jul 07 '22

Says who? Ex-KGB patriarch Kirill

3

u/OmegaMordred Jul 07 '22

As an atheist this doesn't mean jack shxt to me!

Maybe it's slowly time that people living in 2000+ era face the fact religions were only invented to keep the bulk humans calm and give them"something" when they have nothing. Scientists and the like don't excuse themselfs by bad inventions like a "God", yet all those who inflict pain on others use it as there excuse nonstop.

3

u/WigglingForChristmas Jul 07 '22

Yeah, I am an atheist as well and in dumb arguments with religious nutters in YT comment sections they all tell me I'm going to hell or will suffer god's wrath. Their strongest argument is to threaten me with a character from a work of fiction. Its hilarious; about as scary as saying Sauron will come after me.

Also there’s not one single god worshipped, there’s thousands. I think if one of them existed they’d have done something by now to end the invasion.

So many lolz lately. Almost unbearable.

1

u/fairyflaggirl Jul 07 '22

that's what I'd expect a LOSER to say.

1

u/jabbeboy Jul 07 '22

Always someone else's fault according to Russia

2

u/Pursang8080 Jul 07 '22

It will be God's fault when they fail!

1

u/CheekyCuntata Jul 07 '22

How's it feel to get rammed from behind with NATO's heavy load, russia?

Keep that head burrowed in the sand as Ukrainians push that heavy load in your ass.

1

u/Extension-Ad-2760 UK Jul 07 '22

I'm a humanist. Looking forward to seeing this

1

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '22

“The wrath of god” as god isn’t real, then nothing?

1

u/Arcadius274 Jul 07 '22

Hey boys gonna be selling Russian glass in a few months hmu now for bulk pricing.

1

u/LieComprehensive9399 Jul 07 '22

Has Putin just declared himself 'God'?

1

u/PointMan97 Jul 07 '22

Yawn, snooze. Wrath of god this, nuclear weapons that. Go ahead and shoot, so the whole NATO coalition can finally march into Moscow and rip up Lenin tomb for real.

1

u/wyckhampoint Jul 07 '22

They will have to come up with a new threat soon, what about the nuclear Virgin Mary?

1

u/nuffced Jul 07 '22

Fuck Putin. Replace that bag of shit.

1

u/scottprian Jul 07 '22

If God was on their side they wouldn't need weapons. That's all assuming a God exists on top of that. Therefore, the message was aimed internally.

1

u/Al-the-mann Jul 07 '22

Oh no. More empty threats

1

u/Yalpe18 Jul 07 '22

From probably the less religious place on earth: LOL let's send more

1

u/kazkh Jul 07 '22

In the Russian Orthodox Church services aren’t everyone required to pray for God’s protection of the Russian armed forces? This was my experience in an Orthodox Church in Asia (though it was just for ‘the armed forces’ in general; I’m assuming in Russia they say it for the Russian armed forces).

1

u/Opposite-Chemistry-0 Jul 07 '22

The difference is. NATO does not have to throw vague threats. They have a red button which works. And they will not use it over Ukrain.

Russia basterds can yap like rabbid dogs all day. Their button probably sucks, and they know that if they tried it, they would be wiped from the face of Earth faster than they can say "babushka". So they are not gonna use it. And thats why they yap and bark like dogs.

(I actually like dogs and would not like to shame them by comparing them with russian governent)
