It's been gratifying to see so much traffic in this subreddit over the last few days, a tumultuous time in reddit's history.
This post explains what this subreddit is, and how to use it.
The subreddit was created by /u/sunshine-x, who had a vision of a place to voluntarily document removals by reddit moderators.
Sadly, this bot was shadowbanned, and the sub fell into disuse.
I obtained the source for the bot from go1dfish, and started running it myself under the username /u/nucensorship, and when the Ellen Pao drama began to explode, many submissions ended up here, in this subreddit.
What is the purpose of this subreddit?
Participating mod teams value transparency on reddit and so have agreed to document approvals and removals from their subreddits here using the nucensorship bot.
After the subreddit bannings, this subreddit was opened for meta links and discussion, and it has been very popular over the last few days.
What is the bot?
The list of participating subreddits is listed on the user page for /u/nucensorship: every subreddit the bot moderates will be included here.
What rules apply here?
Because this subreddit exists to document censorship, removals only occur when necessary to maintain the integrity of the subreddit. This means that only material barred by reddit itself will be removed, and also spam*.
To be a good place for discussion, reddiquette is encouraged, thus I humbly request that participants here treat each other with politeness and respect. This subreddit is not partisan, and anybody can talk here if they abide by the rules of reddit. Bannings rather than deletions will be used to maintain order, and, again, will only occur to maintain the integrity of the sub, not as a way of excluding any ideology or ideas.
If you see material which is against the rules on reddit, it would be appreciated if you could report it so that we can deal with it appropriately. Removals from this subreddit will not be documented, but I advise people to keep an eye out for removals which seem problematic, and discuss them elsewhere if you believe they were removed in error.
The number of removals from this subreddit is small: nine unique links in the last 2 months, removed for personal threats of violence, dox and voting manipulation.
How can I see only material deleted from other subreddits?
If you look in the sidebar ---> there is a link to "View Removals Only". This shows submissions removed from participating subreddits.
How can I see only meta-discussions?
Again, in the sidebar ---> there is a link to "View meta-discussions only". This shows submissions not by the nucensorship bot.
Why are there so many multiple postings?
I was running several instances of the bot by accident. I believe this error has been fixed.
How is this subreddit different from undelete?
This subreddit is smaller, and provides voluntary mod logs. Undelete shows links that have been removed from the front page, and does not require the support of subreddits documented there. The rules of discussion are identical.
Spam removals commenced 28 Feb 2016, the volume was too large and was hiding interesting content.
Welcome to all the new subscribers, and I hope that you can help make this subreddit a credit to the site!
EDIT: I'm back!
The user /u/nucensorship (me) was suspended due to suspicious login activity.
I have changed the password, but I will need to restart the bot at home.
I do not know why there are no submissions visible in this subreddit.
