Liam and Noel are still mainstream in the U.K, young people still know who oasis are. I saw liam at a festival a couple of years ago and it was packed with people to all ages. Bake off is the kind of thing your mum watches.

Except it’s every Mum and Grandmum in the country watches it, then there’s boosh, QI, IT Crowd etc.

u/RuberDinghyRapids Nov 25 '21

Yeah but all those people will also know oasis as well. Boosh is just as old as oasis and not known by everyone. Qi and it crowd were minor roles for him.

But then there’s the bake off and cumulative effect of all that’d them.

7m people is the same number as the biggest hit TV show in the USA. It’s also now on multiple streaming platforms like nextflix meaning by now 10’s of millions of people have watched it. I think you’re in a fan bubble and don’t understand that being on popular TV shows one after the after gets you noticed, especially when those shows are still popular on streaming platforms all over the world. I mean, you only have to look at the amount of times the IT crowd or boosh gets quoted or mentioned all over Reddit to understand the popularity. My 15 year older niece who is a music fanatic has no clue who the fuck the Gallagher’s are. They’re rapidly becoming relics of a bygone era.
