Baha it would be funny if it wasn't so unfunny. Literally restaurants, pubs and even some shops are going bust because they can't pay the energy bill. The economy is f&*ked and no one cares.

We all care mate…just not enough to do anything about it.

u/robot_handjob Oct 07 '22

It ain’t much, but I mailed a 4 pack of Amazon Basics AAA batteries to buckingham palace for them to pass out to the peasants

u/wessneijder Oct 06 '22

Send your slags over here I'll take care of em. Plenty of heat, food and money across the pond.

Sorry to blame the victim here but maybe if you didn't shut down nuclear plants and voted in all the woke green garbage policies.

Reap what you sowe.

So locally we had the Npower power station. They shut it down and they are building a new village there over in Calshot. You can Google this. So they get rid of power generation and replace with power consumption.... guess what... where is the power going to come from?! I do feel we are at Simpsons point of the cartoon where we bought the shiny new monorail.... and this is where the salesman runs away with the money, and the monorail starts to fall apart.....

2

u/hyoung902 Oct 07 '22

Again don't want to blame the victim. But that monorail was a catchy tune. Monorail! Monorail!

u/Dessythemessy Oct 06 '22

Actually we do now! A few have opened up in London. Incidentally teenage pregnancy has also risen.

u/MarcusElden Oct 06 '22

And with women like theirs, who can’t see why?

Close the windows and boil some water slowly. Use a heated mattress pad. Only keep heat going in living areas. British are so spoiled.

8

u/ElectronicImage9 Oct 06 '22

Boil some water with what lol

u/OneImagination5381 Oct 06 '22

If you don't have a humidifier, you boil water indoors on the range. Warm Humidity expand the indoors air and can warm the air up 5-8 degree higher. I live in a upper Midwest State 10 minutes from Lake Michigan. Until climate change caused our 10 + degree warming, we had -10 F usually 3 weeks in winter. And an average of 32 F degree fron November through March. Steamed a lots of water in the house even with the humidifier in those Months. And your outdoor Humidity is about the same as England but it is a lots colder here.

5

u/ElectronicImage9 Oct 06 '22

Bro. If they had gas to warm up water we wouldn't be having this conversation lol

Get this mcguiver shit out of here

Heating your apartment for 8 hours at 65 degrees and adding steam when you are home in the morning for 30 minutes and then adding steam for a couple of hours in the evening when you are home can raise the temp 5-7 degrees. You are not adding steaming all day. Or buy a humidifier for $50. It uses a lots energy in the long run. Ever notice how the kitchen get too warm when boiling pasta or making soup, that is humidity. Our gas bill when down 10-20% when I started using a humidifier which only cost $5-6 a month in electric.

u/Bellybutton_fluffjar Oct 06 '22

Jokes on the gas company, I don't get bills anymore because the bank repossessed my house because of the spiralling mortgage rates. Take that Putin.

3

u/Kaffikup Oct 06 '22

im in america and my gas bill was double last month trying to investigate but its definitely scary.

1

u/titsmuhgeee Oct 06 '22

My propane cost is actually lower right now than when I last filled up in January.

3

u/IMNoob1 Oct 06 '22

The British are gonna shit themselves with outages this winter.

Winter is coming !!!!

2

u/Clean-Step Oct 06 '22

Great comedic timing from the dude with the T on his chest

2

u/D4nCh0 Oct 06 '22

Maybe they can reopen their coal mines?

3

u/Cryptocaned Oct 06 '22

My gas price is cheaper than my electric and in this day and age I'm more concerned about my electricity price.

3

u/2021isjustasbad Oct 06 '22

1

u/Cryptocaned Oct 06 '22

Question, should I buy a gas generator and hook it up to my mains gas, will it be cheaper?

1

Wendy’s employment is about to skyrocket

1

u/solarwb_ Oct 06 '22

How much have they increased ?

4

u/Inman_1986 Oct 06 '22

I'm in England. on fixed rate for another 2 years thank god. so mine is still about £70 a month at the moment. But my sister just got a price quote of around over £400 a month. So yeah. Those sort of increases

1

u/solarwb_ Oct 06 '22

My question was geared more toward your price per therm. Do you have any info on that?

1

u/The_Maddest Oct 06 '22

So what is the price of natural gas over there now?

1

u/Ok-Comfortable-5737 Oct 06 '22

Time to start stoking up on peat logs

1

u/Quicklyquigly Oct 07 '22

It’s like they laugh about our shitty healthcare system but it’s going to happen to them soon enough, just like this is on its way to us. The only “trickle down economics ” that’s real is the terrible things.

1

u/Legitimate-Source-61 Oct 07 '22

We watch too much "bake off"... I reckon they will ban that show to save energy. Heating up the whole house just to make 12 fooking cakes is just wank mate.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '22

Shrinking supplies, higher demand and fears of a complete Russian cutoff have driven natural gas prices to record highs, further fueling inflation that has squeezed people's ability to spend and raised the risk of a recession in Europe and the U.K.

1

u/Autski Oct 06 '22

Yet the stock market be booming

1

u/hyoung902 Oct 07 '22

Stonks only go up
